Who are the best FPL captain options for Double Gameweek 34?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are mainly looking to Chelsea and Liverpool for the Double Gameweek 34 captaincy, and as per usual, the Captain Sensible article is here to highlight which assets have the best chance of hauling.

First, we will assess the fallout of the captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Saturday’s 11:00 GMT deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

Mason Mount (£7.7m) is the leader of the captain poll in Double Gameweek 34, with 29.7% of total votes from our users at the time of writing.

Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) is in second place, backed by 22.37%, ahead of his home fixture against Merseyside rivals Everton, who happen to have the division’s worst away record.

Kai Havertz (£7.9m) occupies third place with 12.12%, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.2m) and Reece James (£6.3m), with 8.59% and 4.95% respectively.

CHELSEA OPTIONS

We’ll start with Chelsea, given that they are one of only two teams who play twice in Double Gameweek 34 and their assets dominate the captain poll.

The Blues host West Ham United on Sunday before visiting Manchester United four days later. The fixtures might not seem the easiest on paper, but both opponents aren’t bad teams to be facing from an attacking perspective. The Hammers are without a clean sheet on the road this calendar year and may well have one eye on their upcoming Europa League semi-final, while the Red Devils proved yet again in Gameweek 33 that they are a poor defensive side.

Chelsea’s attacking stats over the last six matches are very encouraging and they’ve scored more goals than any other side in that time, mainly thanks to their 6-0 win at Southampton in Gameweek 32. Across the season, they rank third for actual goals and fourth for expected goals (xG).

That suggests Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and even Timo Werner (£8.6m) are worth considering for captaincy, but which one carries the most potential?

    Morning lads,

    In a bit of a pickle this week after FH last week for a disappointing 53 pts. Planning to BB 36 and FH 37 with no other chips left.

    1m ITB 1 FT

    Currently have:
    Ramsdale (Foster)
    Robbo Cancelo Livra (Doherty Ait-Nouri)
    Raphinha Ron Salah Kulu Saka
    Laca Weghorst (Mateta)

    Too many fires to put out but thinking of taking a -8 for:

    Doherty Raphinha Kulu -> Alonso Havertz KDH

    Still keeping a lousy forward line but hoping Laca gets some minutes.

    Any other ideas?

          I feel like keeping Kulu for this GW for less of a hit or perhaps getting rid of Laca for someone long term would be better.

          I’m in the same boat with FOMO for a -8 atm and it’s driving me insane.

      Doesnt seem quite right... KDH in as part of a hit, forcing you to play all 3 forwards / Liv / RAN.
      Who is Ron in midfield?
      Would rather use Laca as cash cow & play Mateta.

    Genuinely feel like I’m missing out this GW without salah; but a -8 would be too much IMO. Need to catch up after dropping to 3rd in league after missing 2 weeks due to being in hospital.

        Thanks brother, I’m good now, been out for 3-4 weeks. Just happy to get back to normality.

        I remember checking my FPL team the day after being on so much sedatives and being absolutely disgusted then falling back asleep hahaha. Joys of FPL eh.

        Haven't thought about whom to bench yet, wanted to get the best for BB 36. Probably downgrade a defender to have cash itb? Maybe a Cash or Spurs defender.

        The problem is max limit in that case for a forward would be 4.8m and I don't see any options in that price range.

    There’s clearly a 50 50 spread between Havertz/ Mount or Salah captain choice. I would go with Salah if I knew he’d play 90 but with so many great attacking options including Bobby back, Salah basically already winning the golden boot and a huge CL game on Wednesday, surely once the three points are in the bag, Klopp is undoubtedly going to rest him. Therefore, we could be looking at 180 minutes vs 60. What are other people’s thoughts?
