When will FPL start in 2022/23? Key dates for Fantasy managers

The dust has barely settled on the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) campaign but before you know it, we’ll soon have our minds on next season – if they’re not already.

The current period of downtime will probably only last until the middle of June, when the 2022/23 Premier League fixtures will be released, the transfer window reopens and FPL is likely to relaunch.

Here we look at a few key dates for FPL managers over the summer.

WHEN DOES THE TRANSFER WINDOW OPEN?

The transfer window opens for Premier League clubs on Friday 10 June.

Most pre-agreed international deals will go through from Friday 1 July, however. Such moves include Erling Haaland’s much-discussed transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City.

Transfer deadline day will be on Thursday 1 September.

WHEN ARE THE PREMIER LEAGUE FIXTURES OUT?

The Premier League fixtures are released on Thursday 16 June at 9am BST.

WHEN DOES FPL 2022/23 START?

The million-dollar question and the one we’re all waiting for an answer to.

That wait continues but we do know that FPL won’t launch until July, as confirmed by the official Twitter account for the game.

Player price releases often precede the game’s launch, of course. Last season, we got a drip-feed of prices from three days before the June 23 refresh.

WHEN DOES THE 2022/23 PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON START?

The 2022/23 Premier League season is scheduled to get underway on Friday 5 August.

The English top-flight teams will contest 16 fixtures up until the weekend of Saturday 12 November, pausing for the winter World Cup in Qatar.

Domestic action will return on Monday 26 December, eight days after the World Cup finishes.

Gameweek 38 will be contested on Sunday 28 May.

OTHER NOTABLE DATES THIS SUMMER

  • Wednesday 1 June-Tuesday 14 June: World Cup qualifying, UEFA Nations League, international friendlies
  • Friday 8 July: Pre-season friendlies commence.
  • Saturday 30 July: FA Community Shield, Liverpool v Manchester City

              I think a lesson I have learnt is to avoid the new shiny toys. Might be crazy to wait on Haaland and whoever else joins the league but at least you know what you are getting with Kane etc.

            Just listening to Az, Sonaldo, Pras Fantasy Football scout end of season podcast/lessons learnt, all that stuff. It quotes that winner of fantasy football's worst rank was 7m in GW14. I thought that impossible/unbelievable as that would have meant steroids and nuclear weapons/enormous dollops of the good luck required from GW14 to GW38. So I thought I would fact check it !

            Guess what the guys rank in GW14 was actually 47,651 to be precise. On a so called expert podcast, please get your simple facts straight ! Such a turnaround was giving all my fellow mini leaguer's false hope.

            Seriously though, please get such stuff right ! Its not difficult !

                You are spot on indeed. The guys worst GW rank was 6.9m in GW14, but he was still 47k in the world by the end of it.

                My "sort of bad/misunderstanding". But maybe the podcast should have made that clearer, but I get it !! That would have been some comeback on so many counts !!

                If you want a good predictor of league position, that correlates well with goals scored and conceded then rank the wage budgets in corresponding order.

                Brentford, Brighton and West Ham over performed and Everton underperformed, other than that v few surprises here.

                  Hey, I have a couple of questions about premium membership.

                  1. When will premium membership for 22/23 become available, and what will the price be?

                  2. I heard OPTA have a new xG model, and I like the look of it. How is this implemented in the member's area? Is there a point where the old xG switches to the new model, or is it retconned? Just wondering if we can still compare data using two different models with any accuracy.

                    As for the second part, all the data for 2021/22 is now the revised xG stuff from Opta. Previous campaigns not so but what you see in the Members Area for the season just gone *should* be the new model.

                        On Memberships, our Premium Memberships are now always available and don't end every year on 1 June. Instead, they're rolling 12 month subscriptions from the time of purchase.

                        On pricing I can't really comment! That's not something we announce until we announce it.

                        The other thing I'll mention is that with our rolling subscriptions, users lock in the price they pay the first time for the duration of their Membership. So anyone signing up today will get that price for future years, unless they cancel their membership.

                    Incredible coach. Legendary.

                    He's well suited to knock-out tournaments, they tend to favour a defensive approach. With league titles, I think you need a more proactive approach these days.

                    I think he's found the perfect fit at Roma, a club that isn't the favourite, so can afford to sit back and counter, and yet a team that can still go places in a knock-out tournament, and show off Mourinho's phenomenal coaching skills in a more suitable arena. Rome loves him.

                  WHEN DOES FPL 2022/23 START?
                  The million-dollar question and the one we’re all waiting for an answer to.

                  FPL launch day has been getting earlier and earlier every year, with the exception of that anomalous 2020/21 campaign which kicked off in September.

                  Here are the launch dates for previous seasons:
