FPL Hall of Fame update: Where do you rank after the 2021/22 season?

Our Live Hall of Fame has been given a refresh at the end of 2021/22, allowing us to see how the list of best-performing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers has been affected by this season’s points.

For the uninitiated, the Hall of Fame is a ranking system applied to everyone who takes part in either of our FPL leagues.

Managers’ past and present performances are then tracked to give a Hall of Fame (HoF) rating.

The Live version of our Hall of Fame can only be viewed by Premium Members but everyone can access the Career Hall of Fame, which will be refreshed soon, by clicking here.

Further information on the Hall of Fame is included at the bottom of this article, but alternatively, you can view this movie to listen to Mark Sutherns and Rate My Team’s Chris Atkinson discuss the feature.

We’ll have more analysis of how the top 10 did in 2021/22, from chip strategy to captaincy, in a follow-up article.

2021/22 LIVE HALL OF FAME: THE STANDINGS

2021/22 LIVE HALL OF FAME: THE TOP TEN

1. FABIO BORGES

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 222nd
  • Seasons played: 8
  • Top 1k ranks: 3
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 7
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 1st (-)

How does he do it? Fábio consolidated his position at the top of the Hall of Fame with a top 250 finish in 2021/22.

The Portugal number one made his move over Christmas, climbing from 140k to the top 5,000 within six Gameweeks.

Fábio has never ended up outside of the top 20,000 in eight seasons of playing, with the campaign just gone his sixth successive finish within the top 5k.

2. FINN SOLLIE

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 210th
  • Seasons played: 15
  • Top 1k ranks: 3
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 10
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 3rd (up 1)

Finishing ahead of even Fábio in the season just gone was Finn Sollie, who has now hit double figures for top 10k finishes.

This was also Finn’s second successive overall rank inside the top 1,000, and the Norwegian was even threatening to win the whole thing when positioned at 35th in the world after Gameweek 32.

Only once in the last 14 seasons has Finn finished outside the top 50k.

READ MORE: Our interview with Finn Sollie last summer

3. JOHN CANNING

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 60th
  • Seasons played: 16
  • Top 1k ranks: 3
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 8
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 61st (up 58)

Another manager to string together back-to-back top 1k finishes was John Canning, who ended an excellent 60th in 2021/22.

A total of 13 finishes inside the top 40k have been recorded by John, eight of which have been inside the magic 10,000 mark.

4. BRUSDAL BRUSDAL

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 2,554th
  • Seasons played: 15
  • Top 1k ranks: 3
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 7
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 6th (up 2)

So good they named him twice, the mysterious Brusdal Brusdal came within a whisker of bettering the three names above when it comes to top 1k finishes.

The new Hall of Fame number four made an incredible leap from 1.2 million in Gameweek 8 to 3.6k in Gameweek 18, subsequently spending eight Gameweeks bobbing around the top 1,000.

A final overall rank of 2,554 was still excellent and the Norwegian’s seventh inside the top 10k.

5. MATT CORBRIDGE

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 1,180th
  • Seasons played: 8
  • Top 1k ranks: 0
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 6
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 27th (up 22)

A relative newcomer like Fábio, Matt has ‘only’ been playing FPL for eight seasons – and has never finished outside the top 23k in any of them.

A cool half-dozen ranks have been inside the top 10,000, including in the campaign just gone.

6. SEAN CONNORS

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 278th
  • Seasons played: 14
  • Top 1k ranks: 2
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 7
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 83rd (up 77)

Sean Connors was another Hall of Famer to finish inside the top 300 this season.

A run of 13 green arrows in the final 15 Gameweeks, plus a Gameweek 21 rank of 105th, helped Sean up to 278th in the world.

This was Sean’s second top 1k finish but there were two other ranks (1,044th and 1,002nd) that fell just short of that landmark number.

7. DAVID WILLIAMS

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 1,668th
  • Seasons played: 8
  • Top 1k ranks: 1
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 4
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 31st (up 24)

The world number 11 in 2018/19 added to their list of impressive finishes in 2021/22.

This was David’s third overall rank within the top 3k in the last four years.

David has yet to finish outside the top 50,000 in eight seasons of playing FPL.

8. MARKKU OJALA

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 123rd
  • Seasons played: 15
  • Top 1k ranks: 2
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 5
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 165th (up 157)

The last seven seasons for Markku Ojala have been a real success story.

The Finn has finished inside the top 25k in each of those campaigns, with two of the last three being within the top 1k.

A 2021/22 rank of 123rd was achieved with seven green arrows in the last eight Gameweeks, despite all but one chip having been spent before that point.

9. TOM STEPHENSON

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 22,133rd
  • Seasons played: 15
  • Top 1k ranks: 1
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 6
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 2nd (down 7)

One of the most consistent managers since the turn of the last decade, Tom Stephenson has never finished outside the top 30k in his last 12 seasons.

The fact that an overall rank of 22,133 was enough to see Tom drop seven places is a reflection of how ridiculous the standard is at the upper echelons of the Hall of Fame.

Tom spent the entirety of 2021/22 inside the top 60,000.

10. PETTERI YLIMAA

  • 2021/22 overall rank: 837th
  • Seasons played: 11
  • Top 1k ranks: 3
  • Top 10k ranks (inc top 1k): 6
  • Position in 2020/21 Career Hall of Fame: 68th (up 58)

Another flying Finn in our table-topping list, Petteri finished 837th in 2021/22.

Gameweek 38 was the first time that our new Hall of Fame number 10 had ventured inside the top 1k in the season just gone, with five chips deployed in the final nine Gameweeks to aid with that late surge.

Three top 1k finishes and a further three within the top 10,000 have been recorded in the last eight years.

2021/22 LIVE HALL OF FAME: OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Joe Sherman finished 19th in the world in 2021/22, moving up to 22nd in our Live Hall of Fame as a result.

Joe had finished inside the top 10k in the previous two campaigns, too.

Fantasy Football Scout mini-league winner and world number three Brett Taylor climbs to 1,869th, while Fantasy Football Scout Members champion, overall 2021/22 runner-up and FPL debutant Suvansh Singh enters at 3,271st.

The manager finishing fifth in the world, and second only to Suvansh in our Members league, Damien Ruigrok, is now 141st in our Hall of Fame.

HALL OF FAME FAQ

How is my rating calculated?
The “HoF Rating” is based on your points scores from previous FPL seasons, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 80% that of the previous season. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2021/22 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2007/08. The “HoF Ranking” even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allow rookies to rank alongside the veterans of FPL.

How do I join the Hall of Fame
Simply sign up to our leagues next season, either the Fantasy Football Scout league or, if you’re a member, the Fantasy Football Scout Members’ league – the code for the latter will be available on the dashboard of the Members’ Area after launch.

How do I find myself in the Hall of Fame?
The search box at the top of the ranking tables allows you to search by surname or by FPL ID.

What if I don’t want to be listed?
Either notify us via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk or simply leave the relevant Fantasy Football Scout FPL league and you’ll be removed on the next update.

When does the Hall of Fame get updated?
The Career table is available to all and is updated at the end of each season to display the latest rankings. The Live version, accessible only to Members, is updated sporadically throughout the season to reflect the scores of the current campaign.

Too many Americans will make Leeds a globally hated team.

Or maybe the American fans will love them, that would be bigger than getting bought by Saudis or an Abu Dhabi Emir.

Tbf the Leeds United fans were pretty good at doing that down the decades, closer to home.

And the team in the 1960s.

Good one. Definitely worse than inserting club name into When the Saint’s Go Marching In and varying the speed with which it is chanted 😎

chanting about Hillsborough or Munich 58 or poverty or Istanbul: now that’s top-shelf material

Most supported side in America is Utd - you’d hope most are aware of the rivalry with Leeds but a lot of the younger UK Utd fans seem to not understand it.

And what happens with Maguire? He’s an 80m man. Do they just take 80m as a sunk cost? They’d recoup relatively very little from selling him

To get his value back up to 90M and then sell him...MU should loan Maguire and Wan Bissaka to a more competent team, with a good coach, and smart executives.

I bet you put both these players in Crystal Palace for one season with Patrick Viera, then they would be stars and internationals again.

MU is now a black hole, all players that put on that jersey are damned. But they become undamned when they leave MU.

It was 130m for the pair. I don’t think they ever recoup 50m for them combined from here. Should just cut their losses for the sake of the wages

I heard they're still after another CB too, they're still keen on Pau Torres, and also linked with Bastoni. So Ten Hag could be aiming for a 3412 system for one season. It would get the most out of Maguire, and also Ronaldo, who plays better with a strike partner.

For England Maguire has always been exceptional, even making UEFA's Team of the Tournament in the Euros. In the right system, he can be a very good player. If they show him off for a season in a back 3, he may well get suitors next summer.

Agreed, he has been poor in his own right, but to be fair to him he's had either poor DMs (Matic, McTominay) or players that aren't even DMs (Fred) playing in front of him most of the last 2 years so he's had no protection. He can't roam forward comfortable knowing the likes of Shaw or AWB are tucking in to cover along with anyone like Rice or Phillips covering any obvious gaps and he gets dragged apart.

I don’t expect it to be a popular opinion and fully expect to get some hate but I’m really not a fan of this ‘celebrity’ element of FPL.

Celebrity? 😆 They are nobody's in the real world. People get carried away on here in their FPL bubbles, go and ask your friends if they have ever heard of them.

Sorry, I just mean within our community. It feels like you can barely read a few messages on here these days without reading 'Andy's doing this or Dave's got this gameweek rank'. It's definitely not a big deal and maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy - I'm sure it wasn't like this a few years back.

No you are spot on. I think it's pretty sad that people get looked up to for doing well in a game of fantasy but that's my view . Never understood how the likes of Spudgun r that tool FPL Mate gets so many followers for example . I get it with someone worthy like Mike Tyson or someone good at something real who have excelled in a sport where actual real skill and talent is required. I don't really live in their world so it's hard to understand what makes them like that. Each to their own I guess

We all have targets to aim for, such as to win our mini-league or to get a high overall rank.
Without testing ourselves against others and attempting to outscore them, the game would have far less meaning.
Don't we all dream of becoming legends in our own lunchtime and enjoy our fifteen minutes of fame when things go our way?

Fabio Borges is rightly recognised as being the best or one of the best FPL players in FFS over the last few seasons, as Ville Ronka was before him, and that is because he deserves it. He isn't one of those who pushes themselves forward in the hope of becoming a celebrity, he just quietly gets on with playing the game to the maximum of his considerable ability.

Successful FPL managers may not be celebrities, or may only be minor ones within the FPL community, but it is insulting to suggest that they are all nobodies in the real world. Some may also be very successful in the real world outside of FPL.

I don't follow them much, but when I do watch a YouTube video, I note only a few thousand viewers in many. My wife has over 60K followers on TikTok, and she's by no means a celebrity - just a normal businesswoman who is popular on social media. So I don't see any of the FPL people here as 'celebrities'.
Having said that, I do see a problem, but it's not with the video and SM content creators - it's with the lazy gormless followers who simply copy what they see and put no thought into their own squads. I can't fault the content makers for the behaviour of those people, however.

Remember for some FPL 'celebrities/regular contributors' this is a full time job. They rely on 'bigging up' the game to earn more dollars.

Bigging up the game and bigging up themselves! This is why I prefer platforms like FFS - no-one has motives and its just a bunch of people chatting as equals. Ironically, most of the big names on Twitter now were just the same as us mere mortals only 3 or 4 years ago - regularly on here, doing RMTs and asking A or B questions, getting no responses most of the time, etc. Many were just in the right place at the right time joining Twitter at the top of the pyramid when the FFS community disintegrated and the FPL Twitter explosion started.

I don't think this was aimed at me but just to be sure - I'm definitely not suggesting they're nobodies in the real world. Those are good points - I guess if everyone was talking on multiple platforms about how 'Redro has this gameweek rank or Redro made this move' I probably wouldn't have a problem so maybe a bit hypocritical 😆

" best 'FANTASY' Football player" . Haha

I wonder if he puts it on his CV . Just because there are many that seem to worship these people you have to accept they are ' nobody's ' to most of us. I think you are looking too deep in to what WR said.

One thing about Fabian or whatever his name is, at least he's not in your face 24/7 spamming Twitter talking about himself in every post hiding behind X this and X that because he has very little knowledge of football like 90% of these influencers . He does it quietly because hes intelligent enough to know that the more he gives away the worse it is for his ranks. For that I have nothing against him personally and fair play if he get's an high rank regularly. I'll just let him get on with it. He's just a normal guy who plays a game like me and you.

What's funny about that, and why can't you even take the trouble to get his name right?
No-one has suggested that Fabio should put it on his CV if it isn't relevant to his day job, but that doesn't make him a nobody.
Most of us are not celebrities, but that doesn't mean we're all nobodies.
What is a celebrity anyway? Many contestants on celebrity TV programmes are people I've never heard of before.

Are you trying to suggest that Fabio isn't at least one of the very best fantasy football players?
And if he is, then why shouldn't other FPL managers recognise him as such?

                  I am not suggesting he is or isn't i just I don't get people's obsession .

Define success and what makes him the best. What's he won? I know players who have won £1000s playing FPL , that is more impressive than finishing top 100 and out of the prizes so I bet there are many that have had more 'success' . . He maybe the most successful to you and some flawed FFS HOF algorithm but out of 9 million players i bet there has been many more successful. .13 or 14 winners of FPL for a start.

I assume this was aimed at me. Insulting? It's pretty obvious to anyone, that my comment meant that their FPL status means nothing in the real world and had no bearing on their other achievements.

I still think it is insulting to call anyone a nobody, even if most of the general public outside of the fantasy football world would not recognise many of our names and don't care either.

It is also wrong to accuse all high-achievers of being part of a celebrity culture, or to complain when they are recognised as being good at what they do even when they have not actively sought celebrity for its own sake. In fact, many high-achievers in many fields ought to be better known than they are.
These are people who have achieved something, even if it is something that many of the general public would not consider to be at all important, unlike those 'celebrities' who are merely famous for being famous.

Our Hall of Fame is not a cult of celebrity, it merely recognises FPL managers who have been consistently successful over a number of seasons, and also enables us to see how we rank over a number of seasons compared to other FPL managers.

Are you talking about the article, or the YouTubers, podcasters etc?

If it's the former, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to have an interest in those with a undeniable great track record - especially when they have a stinker and you beat them 🙂

I agree. It's the latter. I don't see why we shouldn't have a space for a Hall of Fame and TG&TG - I don't even see that as "celebrity" even in FPL terms unless they also have videos/podcasts etc.
And you have to be selective in whose opinion you value. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to seriously engage with every random's opinion on this site or Twitter, whereas I will read the weekly thoughts of BigManBakr. I will take more interest in Fabio Borges' moves that Redro's. I'll still make my own decisions though.

Absolutely - when FFS was the number one FPL platform the "skill" of using the chat as a resource was always knowing who to listen to and who not to. That "skill" has somewhat been taken away on Twitter as anyone can now just follow someone with lots of followers and more or less copy them. It doesn't really impact those of us that make our own decisions though that have always competed in MLs with other engaged managers.

More the article really but the more I've read through these replies the more I disagree with myself. It doesn't cost me anything to just scroll past when they're talked about I guess and if others are enjoying it then great.

I don't use social media like YouTube/Twitter/Facebook etc so can't really comment on what's outside of FFScout.

But tracking the top managers is interesting if not to only get better yourself or put to bed the 'FPL is only luck' arguments.

We all start each season the same, yet Fabio etc continually pull off incredible results.

Don't think being interested in high achievers is quite the same as 'celebrity' culture.
