Which FPL assets played the most minutes in 2021/22?

Slim pickings - I'm at a whopping 4!

Selected with no budget restraints.

I did some maths this morning Andy - and as our thinking seems similar, I thought you might appreciate it.
Looking at the;
- 541 formation
- big at the back
- Haaland up top
- spread of 'mid-range MIDs' (6-8m)

I looked at what their score would be based on last season's points and then compared it against a team with the most popular big three premiums of Haaland/Salah/Son.

As both included Haaland, I ignored his potential points for both teams. And where my draft included Kulu - I took his points per match total and extrapolated it across 38 games (big assumption I know).
I didn't include captain scores or chip potential (as both have weak benches anyway).
And I structured the HSS team as follows using Raga's pricing prediction:
Top scoring (TS) 4.5G GK
TAA/Cancelo/(TS) 5.0/(TS) 4.5/(2ndTS)4.5
Salah/Son/(TS) 6.5/(TS) 6.0
Haaland
Bench fodder
(There's also an assumption that you would choose the 'top scoring' at each of the price points)

Now I realise that there are many ways to skin a cat, but... the Haaland only draft came out 45 points higher.

My take away from this is twofold;
1. We don't need to fear not owning Salah/Son if you can effectively invest the money elsewhere.
2. I really need to stop faffing around here and start doing the job I'm supposedly paid for!

Looks good. No Spurs for opening game would be my main concern but you can't have everybody.

Jonny - need to monitor as competing with Semedo and Ait-Nouri.

Gray - didn’t start under Lampard, so monitor also.

Gelhardt will most likely be 5.0m. Not sure currently if that’s justified with such limited budget. Chambers won’t be 4.0

Looks good but tough fixtures to start for Whu & Ful

I like it. I think Gameweek One won’t be ideal, but after that you’ll be catching up and surpassing. I really like this. Obviously Salah omission is big but you’ve actively decided on that and I respect it. I do think Haaland explodes early doors. All the city players are really excited with his transfer, and the fixtures are perfect.

Exciting forward line up, there.
Will Saliba be nailed? Same with Martinelli and Aaronson - you could have too many 1-point cameos or sub on your 4.5s.

I’ve been championing Fofana too. This time two years ago everyone wanted him, and because of last season he will be 4.5m. It’s no coincidence Leicester improved when Fofana was back, absolutely pivotal. Leicester fixtures aren’t the best so I think he’ll need another 4.5 rotation. I’ve had a little look, and although not perfect both Wolves and Brighton rotate decently well.

The Saliba one is interesting, but I think he’s 3rd defender until otherwise. Gabriel and White haven’t done anything to suggest they’ll be benched. Again, it’s one to monitor.

Aaronson is intriguing. You’d like to think he starts considering the money spent. If Harrison is 5.5 (according to LiveFPL, which I doubt immensely) he’d be the one to chose.

The glaring omission is Trent, but with Robbo it’s cushioned. I’d be slightly concerned I don’t have both Trent or Salah, but that’s because I’m taking a more cautious approach. Genuinely though, I do think they are the best assets. Diaz will be good on the eye but I’m not convinced he’s explosive just yet. Nunez might rotate with him too so probs gets 60-65 mins. I can’t see both Jota and Firmino benched and Nunez up top.

He'll still be sharing a position with Foden. What I think is more likely is that Foden will be regularly subbed off for Grealish. He might get only half an hour, but against tired defences he could be lethal and score highly in terms of points-per-minutes.

My City spots are currently occupied by Cancelo, Dias & Haaland, but I do like the theory above.

I won’t go too much into it, partly because I can’t be bothered, but the Haaland situation doesn’t seem too dissimilar to Aguero. Analysing how they played with Aguero will be the key. Although, Haaland is more likely to run in behind.

He could be worth a punt, especially with the 5 subs change meaning he'll get more game time regardless.

With Haaland's arrival, it's also possible Pep could also switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation which would also favour Grealish's playing time over City's usual 4-3-3 setup.

He's one player I've said since the end of last season I think will do well and quieten the critics this time around. He looked a lot more like the Grealish at Villa in the final few weeks (taking on players, driving into the box) and he said this himself after the final day. The jump up from fighting relegation with Villa not long ago to being among CL favourites at City is big and he had to adapt to playing in a unique system. Now he'll be playing alongside a recognised CF which should help him too in terms of having someone to supply, but also someone to play off. I don't want to triple-up on City and he's a big risk but with it looking like Sterling and Jesus are both going I'm tempted to put my money where my mouth is and go for him. I'll see once the game opens up.

Mane leaving has been set in stone for some time. I don't think it's a factor - after all there will be plenty of transfer comings and goings over the next few weeks.
I'm not sure there is any delay, but if there is it could be due to programming significant changes to the rules or new chips or suchlike.

No reason to think any theory is true. I’d be surprised if we don’t see movement by Thursday, however.

I expect a big update to remove last season's data before they start releasing prices, and they don't have to wait till they've finalised the prices before they do that update.
I also don't expect them to start revealing prices till two or three days before the launch, as to do so any earlier would give them less scope for making any late adjustments based on players changing clubs.
But I'm very surprised that the big update hasn't even started yet.

The only issue is see is if Haaland doesn't start well and is Grealished somewhat you will need to take 2 hits to move to Salah.

The Liverpool defensive triple up is very restrictive seeing as you are relying on Haaland, who at this point is unknown in the Premier League. Not saying he will be bad, I assume he will score for fun. We just can't say that with confidence.

I don't mind this draft but if I were you I would start with kane over haaland as I think saints home is a fist pump fixture and it allows you to see one game how haaland beds in. Then if he looks good jump to him cap home to bou and if not will then nothing wrong with sticking with kane and maybe capping cancelo gw2. Or doing Jesus in maybe or something like that as a differential cap. I also think the nature of your deep squad allows for planning for this luxury transfer.

Raphinha at Chelsea would actually be better as compared to Spurs(Kulu) and Arsenal(Saka)

Last season they had surprisingly little depth on the bench (compared to their usual Galactico level bench)

Robertson didn't play for a quarter of the season tbf

I'd say VVD at 6.5 is the sweet spot. Matip will naturally get a bump but his performances (alongside Robbo and TAA) meant that VVD's scope for bps was significantly lowered, and his attacking returns are sporadic enough that I wouldn't go near him at 7m. (That being said, I do think Konate will eat into Matip's time this season so I'm not too sure on going with him either.)

It’s not a bad shout as Liverpool could get 5-6 CS in first 7 games as they are that good

Alisson averaged 4.9 per game compared to 4 for say Raya (priced at possibly 4.5).
That would be an extra 34 points across the season for Alisson.

The question is can you get more than 34 points by investing that 1.5 mil upgrading another position?

There is an argument to start with Alisson to get the points for these early fixtures then downgrade when 1st wildcard is used to the go to cheaper option?

I'm guessing 6.5. I know he's close to the other 2, but the potential for attacking returns is still so much higher with the full-backs. And I imagine FPL will put them both ridiculously high, not because of their potential necessarily, but more cos otherwise EVERYONE will own them

If they sign Eriksen that may eat into Sancho’s points potential.
