      Spurs fan here and I'm not picking him. He is *just* below the "have to play him every week" valuation for a defender imo and we've got Chelsea away GW2.

      That certainly is BATB but lacks balance. I would probably want a 4.0m defender in there. Also start with a 5.0/5.5m defender and switch to Perisic as and when his game time is confirmed.

      Once he does though he's a must have. I used to pick him in Champions League games as a Midfielder.

    Looking at potential whoopings and oop players for week 1. Can't look past Chelsea v Everton. Everton were bad enough now they have no forwards and a makeshift defence. Sterling potentially oop as centre forward. Rashford potentially up top with Ron and Martial missing.
    Also fancy West ham to give city a game so not heavy there until week 2 onwards.

    Wolves have had an excellent pre-season. Sure the Jimenez injury is a big blow but am surprised the only Wolf in the conversation is Neto.

    Podence on fire and some excellent 4.5m defenders, including attacking full backs.

      I am potentially putting two Wolves players in my team but the alarm bells are the absolutely abysmal end they had to last season, the fact they've not really done any business to make the squad stronger, and the "it's only pre-season" reminder.

    Not a popular opinion but if your happy with your 11 .Why the need to make sure you spend any extra funds within that 11 . Just because your 1m , 2m or whatever the amt is short of filling 11 plus the usual bench fodder doesn't mean your 11 is incorrect.
    I'm happy with 11 and I have a strong 12th man who can cover when one of my 11 has a sticky away fixture and of course be able to slot in if any last min shock drops or injuries.
    I'm a noob in FF but have a background in poker , hedging bets online etc and I'm shocked to see nobody else coming remotely close to this type of system and if anybody has anyone over 4.5 m on bench their shot in flames .
    So please explain .
    Bear in mind A)I believe my 11 it's the strongest it can be .
    B) When my 11 it's not as its strongest my 12th man make my 11 the strongest it can be my 11th man is not just benchwarming he has specific matches he will play
    Again I'm a noob to Ff and I understand this isn't a popular (to say the least )but what I don't understand is why it's shot down in flames or never even given any credit by even the same guys who's expertise has help me with my picks .Thanks alm be gentle my 50th yesterday!!!

      Not sure whose advised you otherwise, but having a good rounded squad is strongly advised. Although I'd argue it's more important in the latter stages of the season

      Depends if you actually plan to change your team from gameweek to gameweek much via your bench options. If so then playing the fixtures and spending a little extra cash there makes sense. If you just want the strongest XI possible then unless you've got an absolute gut feeling that Bailey is going to score more than Coutinho, Martinelli than Saka, Kulusevki than Son, Diaz than Salah etc etc then almost everyone would probably pick the more expensive option if money isn't an issue. Yes it's also nice to have some money in the bank to upgrade a player or two but most people will have wildcarded within the first few weeks.
