FPL General’s Gameweek 15 team reveal + transfer plans

KYLIAN MBAPPE

  • Price: €11.0m
  • Country: France
  • Favourable fixtures: MD1 (Austria), MD3 (Poland)

Kylian Mbappe (€11.0m) is one of the favourites to top the goalscoring charts at Euro 2024.

He has scored 47 goals in 79 games for France, and in Germany, will captain his country for the first time at a tournament.

During qualifying, Mbappe found the net nine times in eight appearances. He was also Les Blues’ leading assister, setting up seven goals, so it’s no surprise he is currently selected by 77% of players in Euro Fantasy.

France have reached the final in three of their last four major tournaments and tend to turn it on when it matters.

Their second fixture against the Netherlands is far from straightforward, but Didier Deschamps’ side beat them twice in qualifying, with Mbappe scoring four times.

Austria and Poland complete Group D, so Mbappe looks primed for another headline-grabbing tournament ahead of his summer move to Real Madrid.

He will be supported by Antoine Griezmann (€9.0m) who is heavily involved at set-pieces, but it’s clear Mbappe is the French asset to target.

“I want to win the Euros. I have to be honest. I won the World Cup. I won the Nations League. That’s the only one that missed me after I did everything with the national team. I really want to win this. My first competition as captain, so it’s really important for me and it’s always important for the country and we want them to be proud of us. [It’s] another opportunity to write the history of my country.” – Kylian Mbappe

HARRY KANE

  • Price: €11.0m
  • Country: England
  • Favourable fixtures: MD1 (Serbia), MD2 (Denmark), MD3 (Slovenia)

Harry Kane (€11.0m) scored or assisted in all seven of his qualifying starts, with eight goals and three assists in total.

That coincided with a stellar first season at Bayern Munich, where he scored 44 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.

England admittedly aren’t in great shape, with only one win from their last five matches, but Gareth Southgate’s squad is packed full of talent, so Kane should get plenty of opportunities, just like he did in qualifying.

Above: All players sorted by big chances (BCT) per 90 minutes in qualifying (minimum 500 minutes)

He’s also on penalties and is likely to play almost every minute, further boosting his appeal.

Kane is the joint-most expensive player in Euro 2024 Fantasy but his pedigree cannot be questioned on the international stage. And with Serbia up first in Matchday 1, he should be able to build some early momentum.

    Nice piece Tom.

All I need to decide now is who to go for between Kane and Havertz.

    Verbruggen
    Dumfries Di Marco Cancelo Maehle
    Eriksen Bellingham Szobo
    Lukaku (H)avertz Scamacca

    Moldovan Cancelo Fernandes Trossard

Use Limitless md 2. Not too keen on Eriksen and Szobo but missing out their tough fixtures and talismanic roles with set pieces should equal some points at least. Thoughts? Alternative to Scamacca is Thuram

Solid team with a couple of good differentials not sure on Scamacca but it could pay off . Same as you I’m using LL on md2 .
          Good luck

Initially yes but he's covering for Shaw who is returning to fitness. He's ineffective at LB other than set pieces so he seems overpriced to me.

not really, Shaw is Southgate's preferred LB and he's in full training

Pick one of the 4.5 defs:

    A. Ignacio (Portugal)
    B. Tah (Germany)
    C. Widmer (Swiss)

All of these appear in the first 11. Widmer probably most attacking,
    Already have Mittle and Guehi.

who are people choosing initially as their 3 FWs?

currently on Kane, Ronaldo, Havertz; is it essential to choose Mbappe and Lukaku? most are of course

Thinking strategy, according to the ticker, MD1 and MD3 have almost exactly the same good fixtures for the same good teams. So I figure, a good team for MD1, then a limitless, then it defaulting back to my MD1 team (which should perfectly match MD3), will allow me to keep my WC for the last 8 - thoughts?

    1. Men in green tights

I was originally going to WC md2 followed by LL md3 but also noticed the same thing about the fixtures and the fact you get two transfers it seems to make sense to set the team up for md1 and 3 saving the WC for the QF's

In theory yes, in practice no. Rotation due to teams qualifying, rotation just in general, plus any injuries will stretch 2 FTs in round 3 too far.

I can get a nice differential team in round 2 for cheap on WC and then Limitless in round 3 to pick from the strong but desperate teams with nice fixtures. I don't think quarter finalists and semi finalists will be too hard to predict in this competition, it's not a tight field. There are 4 teams who everyone is picking for semis and about 9/10 teams who look good for QFs. Saving WC might be a waste imo, plus it's boring.

Could be a waste but you never know , always the odd upset and injuries crop up and suspensions . I'm willing to go that way at the moment could always change .

Seems like my thoughts are closely aligned with Joey on this. Suppose you would still have the option of WC3 but the budgetary difference might be significant, i.e. you won't really need the limitless budget so much in MD2 as you would 3

Good post and equally good reply’s. If LL was a FH md2 would be the play. I’m setting my team for md1/3 and hopefully scrape through 2.
If all the big hitters get through to the later stages LL could be handy.
