The Captain Poll for this Gameweek is at full blast, with nearly 2,000 votes cast already. Manchester clubs dominate the proceedings, with United and City solely making up the top five.
Nani comfortably sits atop the pile with almost a third of the vote. The Portuguese winger has been in blistering form as of late with 3 goals and 3 assists in his last four Premier League outings. Given his freshness, having been used sparingly in the midweek Champions League draw with Basel, he looks nailed on to start against Norwich and continue delivering the FPL goods.
Unsurprisingly taking up a large chunk of the vote is eight-goal Sergio Aguero, whose City side face a Blackburn defence that has conceded 13 times already this term. With Carlos Tevez now indefinitely suspended and Edin Dzeko potentially benched after a ticking off of his own, it’s is easy to see why giving “Kun” the armband is once again proving popular.
Wayne Rooney’s bolt from the blue back to full fitness has seen him make a late dash into third place- there’s little doubt Rooney would be top right now had his availability been confirmed earlier in the week. Team-mate Ashley Young is flying high with the same overall FPL points total as Nani, but a quiet last 3 Gameweeks sees him come in at fourth.
David Silva completes the top five with the next midfield prospects Rafael Van der Vaart and Juan Mata, who face Arsenal and Bolton respectively, much further down the rankings, collecting just a handful of votes each. Strikers make up the rest of the top ten with Emmanuel Adebayor, Robin Van Persie and Didier Drogba all fetching votes. Danny Welbeck is also in the mix but much of his support was undoubtedly collected before the Rooney and Hernandez news came though.
There’s still time to cast your vote on the homepage before tomorrow’s deadline.
