Romelu Lukaku breaks his six-month barren spell by taking it out on a beleaguered Sunderland back four. The Belgian’s second half blitz transformed Everton as Ross Barkley watched on from the bench having been hooked at half-time. Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 4….

On the Rise

Romelu Lukaku
Without a goal in his previous 12 Premier League matches, Lukaku notched his first and then filled his boots as Sunderland caved in.

You could almost see the Belgian grown in stature and confidence and with Yannick Bolasie storming down the right flank, Lukaku was able to help himself to a hat-trick in just 11 minutes.

He could and should have had more – Lukaku registered nine efforts on goal, six of which hit the target – no player in any Gameweek this season has matched those statistics.

With Middlesbrough at home next, followed by meetings with Bournemouth and Palace, it would seem that Everton’s fearsome front man has found form just as the fixtures fall into his lap.

Should he return points against Boro, those who brought in Lukaku for Aguero may well face a difficult decision come Gameweek 6.

Yannick Bolasie
A barnstorming performance from the DR Congo winger terrorised the Sunderland defence which culminated in him laying on Lukaku’s second with a sublime run and cross.

While Bolasie’s 6.0 price tag looked a step too far at Palace, in this kind of form and with Lukaku converting his supply, it suddenly seems very tempting indeed.

The winger was replaced late on with a knock, although he appeared to be suffering from cramp.

Leighton Baines
Back to back clean sheets and two bonus points tonight, Baines is up and running without finding assists or converting a spot-kick as yet.

The aforementioned fixtures could offer further returns, with Koeman’s Everton looking far more secure and efficient than the version under Roberto Martinez.

In Decline

Ross Barkley
Koeman’s ruthless decision to hook an ineffective Barkley sent a sure-fire message that will have shook the midfielder’s 18.6% ownership.

Brought in by over 60,000 prior to Gameweek 4 ahead of Everton’s favourable schedule, it’s now clear that Barkley’s pitch time is far from secure – Koeman will not be as lenient as Martinez with an inconsistent Barkley.

Everton’s second half transformation without him certainly puts Barkley’s start against ‘Boro in doubt.

Mason Holgate
Owned by 7.1% and transferred in by no less than 180,000 FPL managers heading into the Gameweek, it nonetheless came as no surprise when the 19-year-old gave way to Seamus Coleman.

It was convenient while it lasted but Holgate’s opportunities will now be limited at best. Even if Koeman switches to a three-man defence, he would seem unlikely to earn starts.

Patrick van Aanholt
The Dutchman stuck to his guns against a lively Bolasie in the first half but bizarrely, with Bolasie swapping flanks, he struggled in the second 45.

Caught out of position on numerous occasions, he may yet come under threat, although Moyes’ options appear limited.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Good day all~

Should I hold or transfer any of these midfield?

    Sterling 1pt
    Hazard 1pt
    Barkley 1pt
    Sanchez 1pt

I should have had the balls to bring him in last week. He is a great should this gw, then an easy switch back to Kun. I think if it's only a week punt I like him as feel they will score more and Nacho will be involved.

    hey guys

Think my plan to ship out lukaku to get aguero when he returns is out the window now.
Which option do you think is best to get aguero?
    1) Ozil, Sterling, Benteke --> Cazorla, Snodgrass, Aguero
    2) Ozil, Sterling, Benteke --> 4.5 mid, Firmino, Aguero (Play capoue as 4th mid)
    3) Ozil, Benteke --> 4.5 mid, Aguero (play capoue as 4th mid)
or stick with original plan of
    Benteke, Lukaku --> Diomande, Aguero

    Thanks!

      Heaton (Pickford)
      Valencia, Evans, Friend (Robertson, Amat)
      Hazard, Cazorla, Antonio, Snodgrass (Capoue)
      Kun, Ibra, Lukaku

or can have capoue playing as 4th mid and get another 4.5 for snodgrass and upgrade cazorla

Asked why he replaced Barkley at the break, Koeman said: "Because he didn't show the level I expect.

"I know it's always difficult for the manager because he was not selected for the national team and you take the player off after 45 minutes.

"But I had to do something. He lost too many balls. But I will speak to Ross tomorrow and that's no problem."

So a green arrow is always good especially after using your WC, but a few players have tough fixtures this week. Any stand out transfers here or shall I hold it? Feel like I need to upgrade a striker, but that involves taking a -4.

    Foster/Heaton
    Williams/Valencia/Evans/Holebas/Amat
    Antonio/Hazard/Sanchez/Firmino/Capoue
    Ibra/Benteke/Bony

Bony was a punt last week that didn't pay off. Could be worth getting Nacho in for a weeks punt?

Morning good people. Am pretty chuffed with 74 pts. My front 8 is like this:

    Haz/Firm/Ozil/Lamela/Capoue
    Ibra/Kaku/Diomande

1.9 itb. Thinking of these options.
    1. Lamela to Sterling
    2. Lamela to Antonio
    3. Diomande to Iheanaxho.

Option 2 will enable me to get Kun back without a WC or pts hit. Which one looks best?

I like 3 but will force a WC next week. I guess you need to make a call if your wanting to play or not.. if not then 2

WC last week and now need to get rid of Terry.

0.2 in the bank and already have Evans & Williams.

Who is best for the next few weeks?

Rough. Looks like you have been benching Capoue continuously. I decided to play him every week after GW1.

Pretty standard BP if you have Capoue

I want to play him, but just can't bring myself to as I know when I do he'll blank. Maybe after GW6 i'll give him a run in.

    Foster (Jakupovic)
Valencia - Stones - Walker (Evans - Smith)
Willian - Sanchez - Redmond - Lamela (Capoue)
    Benteke - Ibrahimovic - Lukaku

1 FT, 3.1 ITB, WC available

Is this team good to go?

It has some weaknesses, especially regarding concerns about the pitch time for Redmond, Lamela and maybe Sanchez. I really want to save my transfer, and wait with upgrading Redmond/Lamela to Antonio and Mane/Firminho and asses the Aguero situation from GW6.

With the nice fixture this weekend for Redmond and Lamela, it feels like a waste to spend a transfer on them now.

    Comments/inputs appreciated.

I'd be pretty happy with that with an eye on Aguero, when will you promote Capoue?

I will wait to easy home games, and give him an occational game. Even though the United defence looks vulnerablem I still think Redmond/Lamela looks better this round. You prefer him to either of them or Willian?

      nope Costa Payet better option

Antonio is well ahead of Payet in terms a value. In form Lukaku and Costa will probably match each other, with Costa scoring more consistent but picking up yellows and never on pens. On a WC I would change but not sideways moves for trades or hits.

Does Coutinho come straight back into the starting lineup for Liverpool and hold his spot?

It seems like 3 heavy strikers upfront is working very good at the moment. Here is another team with this approach

I don't really like the idea of playing 2 of Redmond Townsend and Capoue every week

What if your heavy hitters (Lukaku Aguero Ibra etc) all blank one GW. Can you really rely on 2 mids that both cost below 6.5 to get you a good score?

            Price isn't everything 😉

            But I agree mostly.

If you get your captaincy pick right then you can get a good score with any combination/formation.

Dude not even bothering and still smashing it basically had no vice captain there

That team is close to shambles. It's very strong in areas but has no depth; he will struggle sooner rather than later. There's nothing else to say there other than a lucky captaincy.

Against my better judgement I've gone 3-5-2

    Heaton
    Valencia-Stones-McAuley
    Firmino-Sanchez-Antonio-Barkley-Capoue
    Zlatan-Costa

    Jaku-Pieters-Amat-Keane

Capoue has to start, even if he gets 2 pts it's less frustrating than him scoring and being on the bench

    KAPOW!!!

No Hazard? Will you be getting Aguero?

Sanchez is taking up my Hazard funds, don't like Chelseas fixtures either, ya I'll be bringing in Aguero for Costa next week
