Romelu Lukaku breaks his six-month barren spell by taking it out on a beleaguered Sunderland back four. The Belgian’s second half blitz transformed Everton as Ross Barkley watched on from the bench having been hooked at half-time. Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 4….

On the Rise

Romelu Lukaku
Without a goal in his previous 12 Premier League matches, Lukaku notched his first and then filled his boots as Sunderland caved in.

You could almost see the Belgian grown in stature and confidence and with Yannick Bolasie storming down the right flank, Lukaku was able to help himself to a hat-trick in just 11 minutes.

He could and should have had more – Lukaku registered nine efforts on goal, six of which hit the target – no player in any Gameweek this season has matched those statistics.

With Middlesbrough at home next, followed by meetings with Bournemouth and Palace, it would seem that Everton’s fearsome front man has found form just as the fixtures fall into his lap.

Should he return points against Boro, those who brought in Lukaku for Aguero may well face a difficult decision come Gameweek 6.

Yannick Bolasie
A barnstorming performance from the DR Congo winger terrorised the Sunderland defence which culminated in him laying on Lukaku’s second with a sublime run and cross.

While Bolasie’s 6.0 price tag looked a step too far at Palace, in this kind of form and with Lukaku converting his supply, it suddenly seems very tempting indeed.

The winger was replaced late on with a knock, although he appeared to be suffering from cramp.

Leighton Baines
Back to back clean sheets and two bonus points tonight, Baines is up and running without finding assists or converting a spot-kick as yet.

The aforementioned fixtures could offer further returns, with Koeman’s Everton looking far more secure and efficient than the version under Roberto Martinez.

In Decline

Ross Barkley
Koeman’s ruthless decision to hook an ineffective Barkley sent a sure-fire message that will have shook the midfielder’s 18.6% ownership.

Brought in by over 60,000 prior to Gameweek 4 ahead of Everton’s favourable schedule, it’s now clear that Barkley’s pitch time is far from secure – Koeman will not be as lenient as Martinez with an inconsistent Barkley.

Everton’s second half transformation without him certainly puts Barkley’s start against ‘Boro in doubt.

Mason Holgate
Owned by 7.1% and transferred in by no less than 180,000 FPL managers heading into the Gameweek, it nonetheless came as no surprise when the 19-year-old gave way to Seamus Coleman.

It was convenient while it lasted but Holgate’s opportunities will now be limited at best. Even if Koeman switches to a three-man defence, he would seem unlikely to earn starts.

Patrick van Aanholt
The Dutchman stuck to his guns against a lively Bolasie in the first half but bizarrely, with Bolasie swapping flanks, he struggled in the second 45.

Caught out of position on numerous occasions, he may yet come under threat, although Moyes’ options appear limited.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Think I've been lured in to a trap with Sanchez. They've got great fixtures coming up but his stats aren't great + his and Arsenal's consistency are awful.

Over this period of games, Spurs and Everton are playing against the same teams.
Sunderland, Boro, Palace, Bournemouth and City.

    Stekelenburg

    Shaw Walker McAuley

    Firmino Hazard Carzola Antonio(v.c)

    Zlatan(C) Aguero Diomande

    Subs. Jaku-Capoue Kingsley-Smith

Sorry I see your point, Capoue was originally bench fodder but has turned out to be pretty valuable(Headache) and Hull's Diamonde for the price has had just as much game time as Snodgrass and their fixtures are looking promising too. Thanks for the heads up.

I switched radio on in car on about 50 mins , after about 10 was thinking Barkleys quiet , not getting many mentions

Then worked it out just as Lukaku , Bolassie & Baines were getting the points

bloody brutal that was as a Barkley owner.

Worse as a Barkley owner that sold Firmino for him in GW3.

Pretty bad. 4th (C) fail in a row. But I guess I'm still positive going forward. It was mainly Ozil and Sanchez not doing anything compounded by no defensive returns that was at fault.

Awful, one of the worst I've ever had.
Was banging the drum for Lukaku captain all week, but bottled it and went for Hazard due to the fear that this site sometimes fuels!
That said, he saved my game week from being embarrassingly bad, to just bad, even without the armband. 38 points in the end.

Was considering 2 punts given the lack of obvious captain material
      1) Capoue playing bench Sterling because of Mourinho's park the bus in big games policy....but I benched Capoue in the end
      2) Had armband on Antonio for a while, but switched it back to Hazard in the end.

Reckon that might have propelled me into Top 5k or higher, gutted.

    How's this team post GW6?

    Heaton / Pickford
    Valencia / Collins / Pieters / Evans / Amat
    Ozil / Firmino / Antonio / Snodgrass / Capoue
    Kun / Ibra / Lukaku

If Kun drops to 12.9, Collins will become Stones in GW7. Had to sacrifice Hazard to keep that front line, but worth it imo with Chelsea's fixtures

What a difference a few minutes of football makes.

After 1st half yesterday: "OMG Everton are so bad, Lukaku cant score from 8 yards, why do I have any of their players, I shouldve played my sunderland defenders"

60 min onwards: "OMG, Lukaku is incredible, so glad I got him in. Everton are amazing, Im gonna captain him next week, their team is so good defo worthy of a double/triple up. Lol @ lukaku non-owners."

One thing I've noticed this year is that although there's an abundance of options in both midfield and up front, the majority of players who are scoring well at the minute are premium picks.

We could really do with a Vardy or Mahrez (Capoue has been trying his best Riyad impression so far) in order to free up some funds.

    B) Fuchs > Baines/Williams
    C) Fuchs & Redmond > Williams & Antonio (-4) - Seems silly as both have good fixtures, but is Antonio a must have at the moment? Can only really get him in for a hit

I'm thinking about possibly Wildcarding GW6 but not sure just yet, my defence needs an overhaul.

    Costa Lukaku Kane

Looks fine, I think Capoue deserves a chance with those kind fixtures of his. Who will you be sacrificing for Kun?

I had kun, but with those 3 strikers, is it still essential to get him in?

I wouldn't stat both, Fer is srtong bench fodder. Capoue is a rotation device but worth starting too. I'd look to save money on your defence and upgrade Fer.

Can't entertain a team without at least one of Kun & Ibra, preferably both. I know that team looks good now but it's gonna lose you ground over time

Triple Everton saving my ass this gameweek. Baines, Mirallas and Lukaku bringing in 31 points (of 55 in total for this gameweek).

I feel as thought my team is starting to shape up for the longer term now, but it probably won't include either Ibra or Kun:

    Foster / Heaton
    Shaw / Williams / Azpilicueta / McAuley / Amat
    Hazard / Ozil / Firmino / Antonio / Capoue
    Costa / Lukaku / Bony

0.4 ITB to change Bony out to Benteke if he looks a better option over the next couple of weeks. I may also swap Azpi for an alternate (Walker etc) at some point

With Lukaku's fixtures is everyone who hasn't got him thinking of getting him in now?

With a front line of Costa - Benteke - Ibra I find it hard to make room!

Yep. Got him in for Defoe. Kun can wait an extra week or two.

Considering Ibra > Lukaku, catch the price rises on Trolukaku then when Everton's fixtures worsen decide on what to do about Ibra and Aguero.

Pep could just ice him for all I know. But he hasn't gotten the Yaya treatment, so I expect him to eat into Stones playing time

1 ft, 1 mill in bank.
Prob WC after next GW begins.

Which of these would u do for a 1 week punt!
    1. Souare - Baines or other (5.5m)
    2. Barkley - Anto or other (8.6m)
    Thinking 1?
Barkley may be given another chance and a decent fixture?

    Current set up-
    Foster
    Valencia, Souare, Stones,
    Ozil, Hazard, Barkley, Lamela.
    Lukaku, Benteke, Ibra.
    Subs: Heaton, Hojbjerg, Friend, Amat.

City picks looking iffier by the day...Surely rotation is gonna set in with returning players and the likes of Sane coming up to speed...

Looking like Sergio or Sergio as a pick to me...

Lukaku now joint top for shots on target for forwards this season with over 100 minutes less played than the other top contenders

I'm seriously considering going without Kun theory. But might need one of KDB/Sterling for cover.

City looked so good against United, could be a blood bath against Bournemouth and going forward. I'd be seriously worried about not owning Aguero but it could work.

9 vs Sun, 6 on target. I know we harp on the trollkaku stuff here way too much, but it's sort of a perfect storm after this performance...
Love the Koeman tossed Barkley off, and how he started to convert straight afterwards

The team looks so good elsewhere without Kun and we got Ibra/Haz/Sanchez for armband options. Keeping the WC in locker for now in case of emergency.

I'm thinking Redmond > Cazorla this week, and then downgrade Azpi next week to afford Aguero again the week after. Thoughts?

    Foster
    Azpi / Shaw / McAuley
    Hazard / Firmino / Lamela / Redmond
    Ibra / Benteke / Rondon

    Jaku / Capoue / Amat / Smith (4.0)
