As we approached the new season, hopes were high that Dimitri Payet could prove irresistible for our five-man midfields in 2016/17.

Restricted to just 26 minutes over the first three Gameweeks due to injury, Payet has been sold by a massive 589,000+ so far – only Eden Hazard and Riyad Mahrez have been subject to more sales in the centre of the park.

Since returning to the West Ham first XI in Gameweek 4, though, Payet has been quick to rediscover his Fantasy form.

Impressively, the Frenchman has played a part in all five of his side’s goals over that period. Payet provided two assists against both Watford and West Brom before serving up a stunning solo effort at home to Middlesbrough last time out.

With 30 points accrued in his four starts, then, this latest article for members casts an eye over Payet’s recent displays, assessing them against last season’s numbers before checking out the stats over the last four Gameweeks relative to other midfielders.

Got 2FTs to spend on either of these moves

    A) Rashford & Antonio > Austin & Wally/Son
    B) Rashford & Baines > Austin & Mustafi (have Cech)

I have a similar dilemma - Son or Mustafi - who's more important for next week or two... Still undecided. Leaning towards Mustafi. But given you have Cech, I'd go for A

Both Rashford and Antonio have good fixtures ahead mate, i would save FT mate. maybe use one FT in some other area.

Hypothetically, what could be done during international break to maintain FPL interest. Mini 'international' leagues where your players' international points count towards but they don't count towards your overall FPL score?

    Good morning all!

It’s decision time once again. Luckily some of the flags have disappeared making desperate moves less necessary now.
Below is my team. I have 2FTs and £0.5 ITB. I am torn between two moves:

    Pickford (Jak)
    Vertonghen, Evans, Holebas (Williams, Amat)
    Antonio, Sterling, Firmino, Sanchez (Capoue)
    Lukaku, Aguero, Rashford

Option 1: Antonio -> Son. I got Antonio at £7.0 so I can weather the upcoming price drop and keep him at £7.1. Son however will be beyond reach once he moves to £7.7 before the deadline. He’s been stellar so far but the question is, is his form likely to continue. Also Antonio has blanked in two games in a row but probably deserves another chance. So the question is purely financial – do I get Son now or worry about reshuffling in the future to get him in.

Option 2: Williams - > Mustafi, which requires me using the second FT to downgrade Capoue to a midfielder at £4.5 or less – Fletcher? With Arsenal’s fixtures, defensive coverage is important and Everton’s fixtures are turning more difficult.

Which one would you go for? Not too worried about Sterling. Even if he misses next game, I’d like to keep him in the medium term so not tempted to ship him out.

    Thank you!

Option 1 and then with 2 free transfers next week can focus on defensive upgrades.

I've got a transfer to burn this week but struggling to find a decent option. 0.9m ITB

    Pickford/Jaku
    Holebas, Walker, Lovern, Williams, Amat
    Sanchez, Firmino, Antonio, Capoue, Barry
    Lukaku, Aguero, Costa

I don't really want to get rid of Antonio/Costa this week as I fancy them to get something this week. I can't really upgrade my defence or Capoue without downgrading one my forward line to Austin/Deeney/etc.

Any ideas? Maybe I can use the spare transfer to switch out Jaku...

I'd look at upgrading Capoue to Snoddy maybe?

that's a good move (if you can afford it), Antonio to Son also a good option IMO.

Thanks, it's affordable, but uses my potential funds for Antonio -> Wally/Son next week.

I could always do Capoue -> Snoddy this week and then Costa -> Austin next week to upgrade Antonio. That would give me ~3m in the bank, with that money I could upgrade Capoue/Snoddy to Son with money ITB for Williams -> Mustafi!

Looks pretty good actually. I'd made changes to the defense. Think about Arsenal / Spurs coverage to replace Stones / Baines.

I don't have enough ITB to bring in Arsenal and Spurs defenders. Defense is definitely the weakness atm.

Captain Picks: Aguero vs Alexis - Will They Play

    Alexis Sanchez
    Alexis Sanchez's schedule now:
Thu 6th Oct: Ecuador vs Chile
Wed 12th Oct: Chile vs Peru
Sat 15th Oct: Arsenal vs Swansea (GW8)
Wed 19th Oct: Arsenal vs Ludogorets

Alexis Sanchez's schedule when he got rested:
Fri 2nd Sep: Paraguay vs Chille
Wed 7th Sep: Chille vs Bolivia
Sat 10th Sep: Arsenal vs Southampton (rested)
Tue 13th Sep: PSG vs Arsenal

He has the same amount of games, but this time he has 2 extra days rest overall, plus the CL game is against Ludgorets - thus little need for Wenger to save him for that game.

    Sergio Aguero
    Sergio Aguero's schedule now:
Fri 7th Oct: Peru vs Argentina
Wed 12th Oct: Argentina vs Paraguay
Sat 15th Oct: City vs Everton (GW8)
Wed 19th Oct: Barca vs City

    Sergio Aguero's schedule before:
Fri 2nd Sep: Argentina vs Uruguay
Wed 7th Sep: Venezuela vs Argentina
Sat 10th Sep: United vs City (suspended)
Wed 14th Sep: City vs M'gladbach

It's harder to compare Aguero with Sanchez because of the suspension. One thing to note though, the timings of each game is the exact same - Fri, Wed, Sat, Wed.

Pep's rotation tendencies at Bayern were strong, the reason being that his squad was so deep. He went on a 97(+) game streak of rotating his squad. In a press conference before a game against Olympiacos he explained that he likes to rotate to keep "harmony and fitness". Case: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3330652/Bayern-Munich-manager-Pep-Guardiola-named-changed-team-97-games-loves-players.html
Similar to Bayern, Man City have a very strong squad.
As a case study, there was a time Lewandowski suffered a concussion - Pep said "If we can rotate, we will". This was before a league game against Leverkusen. Compared to Aguero now, Lewandowski's injury was much worse. But, this shows that Pep is willing to rest his key striker if needed. Case: http://www.marca.com/en/2015/05/01/en/football/international_football/1430499122.html

Aguero declared himself fit for the Argentina game, and to his credit played the full 90. But, was he forced to play the full 90? Argentina lost 1-0 and you'd have to wonder if Aguero would've come off if they were winning.

It's worth noting that City have Barca midweek in the CL on the Wednesday after GW8. De Bruyne is expected back also.

    Conclusion
Those are the straight facts, but in my opinion, I think Sanchez will start in GW8, with the potential of getting substituted off in the 2nd half if Arsenal are winning comfortably.
Aguero is a 50/50 in my opinion. De Bruyne is expected back, but I can see Pep being careful with him and introducing him in the 2nd half as opposed to starting him.

And when asked if it would be a surprise if he was dropped during the next international window in November, Aguero was frank.
“No, because I’m not doing things right. If I’m not in the next squad, I’ll take it in the best way.”
