The Stock Check – Gameweek 25 – Monday

Raheem Sterling displays his improved consistency by bagging the opener in City’s win at Bournemouth. The Gabriel Jesus bandwagon comes to a halt prior to blank Gameweek 26 as he limps off early with a foot injury.Meanwhile, Junior Stanislas’ tumble down the Bournemouth pecking order continues as he’s benched for the second successive Gameweek. Here’s the Stock Check following Monday’s Gameweek 26 finale…

On the Rise

Raheem Sterling
Having started the last ten Gameweeks, Sterling has now returned two goals and eight assists over that spell; he could have had a ninth had substitute Sergio Aguero managed to divert his initial touch to the winger’s cross on target.

That outstanding run of form has unfortunately coincided with the emergence of Gabriel Jesus and the doubts surrounding City’s missing fixtures.

Once we’re beyond Gameweek 28, Sterling will surely enjoy greater interest having delivered so consistently. However, it should be noted that City face Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in their three matches to follow the potential Gameweek 28 blank.

Leroy Sane
On the opposite flank, Sane also sparkled against the Cherries.

He’s now started the last four Gameweeks and has delivered a goal and two assists in that spell – like Sterling, he was unfortunate not to find further profit from Monday’s encounter having struck the bar.

However, priced at 7.5 to Sterling 7.8, it’s unlikely that he will enter into the equation as more than a differential.

In Decline

Gabriel Jesus
Missing Gameweek 26 and, in all probability, also set to sit out Gameweek 28 should City progress to the FA Cup Quarter Finals, Jesus picked up a foot injury at the Vitality Stadium to compound matters.

Handed his third successive start by Pep Guardiola, the young Brazilian suffered an apparent foot injury challenging for a cross and, despite his best efforts, was forced to limp off after just 15 minutes.

Guardiola confirmed post-match that Jesus would be assessed, but offered little more than that by way of a prognosis.

Brought in by more than 210,00 ahead of Monday’s outing, his owners will at least have the comfort that they were forced to go into the next Gameweek benching or selling the striker.

The will now wait on the verdict from City, in the hope that it puts no doubt over Jesus’ starting role for the Gameweek 27 fixture away at Sunderland.

Opportunity may just knock for Sergio Aguero.

Junior Stanislas
Benched at Goodison Park in Gameweek 24, the winger suffered the same fate in Monday’s encounter as Eddie Howe opted to hand Jordan Ibe a first start in three months.

It was felt that Stanislas missed out at Everton due to a shift in formation but, on the evidence of Monday’s teamsheet, he now faces a battle to reinstate himself in the starting XI – an unwelcome development for his 133,000 owners who were looking to him to help cover the Gameweek 28 blanks.

The fact that Marc Pugh was introduced as Ibe’s replacement with 15 minutes to go offers further indication of Stanislas’ rank in the current pecking order.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How do we feel about the FTs I made last night? Premature maybe, but want to maintain TV for when I rebuild in GW 29.

    Sanchez » Siggy
    Stanislas » Snoddy

Still got Rose and Friend in my team. One of them may or may not leave for a hit (hopefully not).

You'd hate for Arsenal to play 28 now.

Not sure about hate. Siggy and Snod are good options with definite (good) fixtures. I can always bring Sanchez in again, but with 4.4 ITB I have the option to build a team without him.

Too long a break for early transfers

      1. Deulofail

        7 years, 1 month ago

Earlier in the season, it was all about earlier transfers in long breaks on here. TV less important in making decisions at this end of the season, but TV is still important. When I make transfers for GW29 it could mean the difference between Mane and Coutinho, or even getting Sanchez back or not (if I want him).

Come GW 28, the moves I made are likely to be the right ones, since Arsenal are unlikely to play that week. Making an early move isn't particularly clever, but it's more likely to pay off than not, and it's at a time when I have to try to be different to pick up little points here and there as I'm chasing

Yes, but what if Liverpool plays in gw28, wouldnt Mane be good for Sanchez now? Or do you think snodgrass will outscore him anyways?

          1. Deulofail
            • 8 Years
            7 years, 1 month ago

Yeah you're right. But I'm hoping to have 2FT for GW29, so I can take my pick of the best options then, bringing in 3 of Mane, Coutinho, Walcott, Kane and Costa over in 29/30. If Liverpool play in GW28, for example, at least I have a damage limitation plan. Otherwise, I've benefitted from early transfers.

It also allows me to choose which budget options to keep, so I'm not committing to one earlier than necessary. If Snodgrass is the weakest link, he'll go. If it's Philips, or even Antonio, Siggy or Alli, then any of them can go, because I'll have money in the bank.

Kelechi Iheanacho remains eligible for selection.

"The Nigerian now meets the requirements to be named on UEFA’s ‘List B’, which allows clubs to register an unlimited number of players, providing they fulfil the following criteria:

Born on, or after, 1 January 1995; and

        Jesus > Llorente/Carroll
        Jesus > Costa (-8)

Stupidly made a transfer after the Spurs game and brought Mane in and it's now priced me out of a straight move for Costa. Would you go for the cheaper option to look at something like this in a few weeks.

        Sanchez - Siggy - Mane - Sterling/Sane
        Lukaku - Kane -

I play in a draft league and I currently have Vardy - I know... horrific.

There's very few options out there and someone just took Gabbiadini.

        Would you:

        A: Keep
        B: Swap for Giroud
        C: Swap for Negredo
        D: Swap for Crouch
        E: Swap for Niasse
        F: Swap for Slimani

Currently I'm thinking Niasse might be good shout

Swap for a forward playing GW26 and GW28, like Lukaku, Llorente, Carroll or Rondon. Wait for FA cup result before you do anything, maybe Spurs loose and you can pick Kane.
