We’re left punctured and deflated like that old plastic ball you used to kick over the fence into the neighbour’s garden.

That neighbour is Pep Guardiola, who appears to take great pleasure in putting his big teamsheet tinkering garden fork through our bouncy double Gameweek dreams.

Recorded in the dying stages of Manchester City’s non-event clash against a stubborn Stoke, Jonty, Andy and myself are left rather flat during this episode of the ScoutCast.

Even the most imaginative accountant couldn’t hide the fact that, after transfer hits aplenty and having witnessed Messrs Kane, Costa, Hazard and Lukaku grab hauls, all three of us depart Gameweek 27 in the red.

Gathering ourselves after that disappointment, and steered by your questions, we nonetheless press on to offer our latest musings on the minefield of blanks presented by Gameweek 28, while checking in on Sanchez’ fading star and third striker options.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience, pastry and all, via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

It still will be if I can't get a couple of big hitters up front, decent MF and want a half decent defender or two. My tv isn't great...

Handy. Would have just enough cash to do Aguero and Phillips to Kane and Sanchez next week

        You'd want Sanchez next week?

He'll surely get a bonus for qualifying top 4, won't this be incentive enough?

Possibly not, may hold for an extra week. Phillips is crap though.

Sanchez has gone from a GW29 definite to a GW31 maybe for me. I now think it's possible I won't bring him back at all. Getting Hazard back is more of a priority.

I'm around 3m off my ideal wildcard team. Various solutions are available but if I felt Sanchez was unnecessary that would solve it in one go.

I'm thinking Chelsea will soon be in cruise mode with the league wrapped up. Not sure how motivated Hazard will be.

I'm a big fan, have him already. Sterling, mane, Morrisson, siggy and then dropping Allen for a good 4th mid

Then probably one of Eriksen/Alli. Maybe Sanchez/Hazard

    Mori Brunt Coleman
    Mane Coutiho Siggy
    Llorente Lukaku

    (Grant, Pickford)
    (Jones,Alonso)
    (Hazard,Stanislas)
    (Crouch)

Worth doing Stanislas to Firmino? Already on -8? So it would be -12? Transferd him about 5-6 weeks ago, and now he's benched and injured...crap

  4. Lav

    Coutinho or Firmino?

The more I think about it Eriksen to one of them for a -4 (-8) looks good. Gives me 9 players for the week. Leaves me with no Spurs players, but Aguero to Kane is on the cards.

So who do I go with?

There's no way under normal circumstances I'd do -12 but one ML rival has already done -8 just to get 5 for this GW. I suspect others will do same and only I have Siggy prior to this GW. I have no problem taking -4 than the nearest rival who is 34pts behind

Rival I've finally overtaken has 3 I have 5, willing to take a -12 to get in 10 and even if I break even/lose a little I'll hopefully be well set up

Just writing my "pain"...so this dgw wasn't good for me.Lukaku>Kun(TC) and Alli>Sterling(-4)+my plan for gw28 was good and with 1 transfer i could have 11 players but now with the dgw and Stanislas i need 3 tranfers. Also ML leader and ML rivals had Grant,Pieters,Allen even one of them TC Kolarov. At least now for gw 28 they'll have 7players with 1-2 hits.

Paingate eh? Hmmm... haven't even totted it up yet LOL

Let's see, Grabban/Hazard/Alli + 8, sigh, is 31, call it 33 as Morrison covered Grab.

Kun(tc), Sterling, Sane is 45, so up 12 I guess, doesn't quite feel like it though lol 😉

    Jaku
    Baines Brunt Robertson
    Coutinho Carroll Sigurdsson
    Llorente Lukaku

(Heaton, Alonso, Yoshida, Sterling, Alli, Aguero) 5.7itb -4 already

Is it worth another hit this week for Alli to Mane? gives me a 10th active player this week?
My plan is Brunt and Aguero ---> Walker and Kane next GW

    Any other suggestions welcome

    How's this gw30 WC looking?

    Pickford Valdez
    Walker Valencia Alonso Morgan Prodl
    Sanchez Pedro Sane Alli Zaha
    Defoe Gabbi Kane

Plan is to use this as a base and then plan transfers around DGW fixtures once they are known

It's fine. It I can't be bothered planning until we know dgw schedule. Should be some more fun and variations if the dgw are more spread out, will be more of a challenge and will need some serious planning.

Do I WC or go -14/16? The transfers will see me through until the DGWs

Phillips to Carrol GW 29 (This can be done for GW28 to minimize hits)
Ibra to Kane GW 29 for -4 If dont get carrol this week

    Aguero to Costa GW30
Crouch to Gabbi GW30 (but need to drop Heaton/Robles to Pickford for -4)so-8

It will be -16 overall or a -14 if i bring carrol in for Phillips assuming phillips doesnt play

I can spread them out over more GWs to minimise hits, i need advice

    1. Pep says
      • 10 Years

Spreading out over 3 gw's makes it -12 and Phillips to Carroll could cushion that. Are you actually going into this GW with no striker though???

Bit of talk about holding blank GW assets due to future DGW's even if it means less than 11 players this week. If you have loads of City assets I'd rethink that strategy, their short term fixtures and rotation imminence won't prove worthwhile in the short term and you'd miss out on short term points. Liverpool and Swansea have fantastic fixtures for the long run so it'd be worth the investment.

Just important to identify who is worth keeping. Certainly wouldn't hold lots of City assets although Jones and Cedric probably aren't the best bets in the long run.

37's the BB so we've time. We'll be getting Gabby soon I guess and w/o Kun there's cash for Alexis. Ibra could be tricky but not that tricky to cover maybe, Pedro could be the CHE go-to guy if Haz is too hard to fit in. I have Valencia already but he will be sought after I guess.

Gabby soon yea, for GW 30 I suposse. I got Pedro, he will remain my CHE coverage with Alonso... i'm not sure about Sanchez due to recent events:( My main focus will be Kane and Alli in the weeks to come... One thing is certain, from now on I'm going to need to take more hits than I wanted too.

Yeah a couple of spuds, maybe even 3 look good right through as it stands. Hits? Don't think anyone really loves 'em but they can work. Easy to look at great examples where some don't take them but most are battling away making mistakes and to do nothing then becomes the error.

Definitely 3 spurs for the rest of the season imoz. You got a point tbh. Say, how many DGW players do you reckon we can field for 34&37? Surely not all of them? There's bench boost too tho, worries me lol

I got Mawson last week. Wish I got Olsson for all round play but Mawson is pretty useful when attacking. Hit the crossbar and post within 5 seconds last game.

And if I keep reading posts like this I will convince myself going to -12 for one or the other if them is a good idea.

Amat and Holgate essentially just there for show these days. Rondon too I guess.

Any thoughts? Used my 1FT already.

    Grant
    Brunt - Holgate - Coleman - Amat
    Mane - Carroll - Eriksen
    Lukaku - Costa - Rondon

    Pickford - Sterling - Capoue - Alonso

I am stuck. Have 0.7m and to make Redmond to Siggy i need to downgrade Valencia or Alonso or do Pedro to Siggy

This is the best time for sure. Means we can still have good SGW options in the mean time and load up for the bumper DGW37 on a bench boost.

I hope its the current bottom 3 that go down. Sunderland have been struggling for too long now and need to get relegated, Middlesborough can't score goals so aren't entertaining enough to be in the PL and Hull were never at the races. All the other teams in the mix still have a lot to offer, Palace, Swansea, Bournemouth, Leicester have good PL players and are good to watch.

difficult for SUN to get relegated with Defoe in the team.

The attitude amongst the players is really bad as well, they only turn up in the last part of the season, only this time Moyes doesn't have the charisma to get them motivated to try.

They don't have enough points, there is no chance they can rescue this one, even with Defoe.

      Fair analysis
Boro are most definitely doomed, not being able to score goals is always a death knell for teams in the prem. Hull don't have the playing staff and Sunderland are just a circus club (see tour to New York city)

Worth a hit here to get 11 for this week? 5.3m ITB, taken a -4 already.

    Foster (Jaku)
    Coleman F.Mori Brunt (Alonso Lenihan)
    Mane Siggy Phillips Snoddy (Alli)
    Lukaku Llorente (Kane)

Think it's worth a -4 to do Phillips to Firm/Cout if he's out?

Also what are your thoughts on Lenihan to Mawson/Hull defender?
