We’re left punctured and deflated like that old plastic ball you used to kick over the fence into the neighbour’s garden.

That neighbour is Pep Guardiola, who appears to take great pleasure in putting his big teamsheet tinkering garden fork through our bouncy double Gameweek dreams.

Recorded in the dying stages of Manchester City’s non-event clash against a stubborn Stoke, Jonty, Andy and myself are left rather flat during this episode of the ScoutCast.

Even the most imaginative accountant couldn’t hide the fact that, after transfer hits aplenty and having witnessed Messrs Kane, Costa, Hazard and Lukaku grab hauls, all three of us depart Gameweek 27 in the red.

Gathering ourselves after that disappointment, and steered by your questions, we nonetheless press on to offer our latest musings on the minefield of blanks presented by Gameweek 28, while checking in on Sanchez’ fading star and third striker options.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience, pastry and all, via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Anything worth a hit here?
If I am taking a hit it needs to be for a player who is expected to well for a few GW's at least.

    Heaton*.
    Funes Mori, Amat*, Brunt.
    Mane (vc), Phillips*, Snodgrass, Siggy.
    Lukaku (c)

    Aguero, Kane
    Pickford, Alonso, Walker, Whelan.

    0ft, 1.9m.

Maybe bring in Llorente for him?

Not sure I want him (eye on Gabbiadini) but suppose it would be short term.

Can move for Sanchez then next GW..

Oh, really? Wait until he scores and assists and you dismantle your team with hits to get him back asap. Don't forget he assisted against Liverpool in 45 minutes. Players like him cannot be forgotten about. You have to monitor them every week.

I like C but it depends on how much risk you want to take with Sanchez. That could be a crucial move.

      P.S. Have you wildcarded?

Then I'd risk Sanchez. You'd want a jump while everyone is cleaning up.

        I'm currently C > B > A

Triple LIV for BUR could be great & they've decent fixtures (unlike BOU)

You prefer King over Lallana or is it more that you prefer keeping Mane over Firmino?

        1. fedolefan
          • 11 Years
          8 years, 9 months ago

King over Lallana is what I looked at. And Mane over Firmino is preferable too.

          • 11 Years

Triple pool? I don't think they'll destroy Burnley like people seem to think, but even if they do, I doubt they are cleaning up City and Everton after that. Last two fixtures are hardly bankers.

      C) for mine Jins.

Im also planning on getting Sanchez back asap - the fact that he is shaping as a 'differential' is very exciting. Of the two Sanchez options (B+C) I think holding Mane is the way to go.

Finally, the GW we've been waiting for to unleash Matt Phillips is here. Can't wait for him to repay the faith.

Now, having said that, with my GW29 transfer also planned (does not include him), I've given up all hope of transferring him out until I wildcard.

For GW29. Is it a good move to do all three transfers for gw29.
    Costa > Kane
    Sterling > Pedro
    Barnes > Llorente

    Current team.
    Jaku
    Coleman Brunt Mawson
    Snodg mane sterling siggy eriksen

    **grant maguire pieters barnes**

I'd be tempted. With McAuley's fixtures and Amat, you'll want a good third defender to go with your Chelsea.

Coleman has decent fixtures. It's not my team so it's easy but I say probably go for it

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Baines Coleman McAuley (Pieters Holebas)
    Mane Sigurdsson Phillips (Eriksen Sterling)

    1. Sterling > Coutinho? (-4)
    2. Sterling > Firmino? (-4)

I feel decently set up with Kane and Eriksen; funds are always good but I don't feel too strapped. Phillips > cheapie at some point can free up more if needed too. I will look at Hazard though..

Must be the last person on planet earth to see highlights of Barca game but how shocking was PSG defending. First 3 could go a comedy reel.

I have 9 this week (including a punt on Amat and Lovren). Should I take a -4 for Sane?

    Sane to who?

    1) Coutinho (already have Mane)
    2) Antonio
    3) Hold

Already have Siggy and Mane in midfield.

    Cheers 🙂

Yeah Coutinho for me. I'm wavering between Coutinho Firmino and holding but I'll probably take the hit

    Heaton (Pickford)
Funes Mori Francis Brunt (Walker) (Alonso)
    Siggy Mane Snods T.Carroll (Alli)
    Lukaku (Kane) (Aguero)

For GW29 I want Costa, Lukaku, Kane, I currently have Aguero, Lukaku, Kane. Also, Snods to Pedro is on the cards for 29. So I'll have to take a hit next week to get that.

So I was thinking if I took a hit to get in A.Carroll or Lloriente this week for Aguero for -4 then effectively it's a -8 as I'll hit to get them out again next week, but it's not is it?? Not if I'd be taking a -4 anyway (regardless of if I hit this week or not).

So, surely it's worth the gamble no?? A goal/assist from which ever striker I get in and I'm in profit.

I think I'm trying to convince myself lol.

King. He is on a purple patch and has looked pretty good when I've seen him. Antonio. Not so much. No goals in eight straight. Yikes. Or maybe that means he's due. Lol.

I have 10 playing for this week (including Phillips), are any of these moves worth a -4 to get another player?
    (A) Phillips to Coutinho
    (B) Lenihan to Mawson/Maguire
    (C) Alonso to Clyne

If you already have a Pool mid then not A, definitely not C, maybe B if you plan to keep Mawson/Maguire beyond just this week

B, Lenihan is dead, so a switch to either of those has to be worth it, even if the points aren't paid back immediately.
