Next up in our summer series of members’ articles, we move to focus on one of the key sources of Fantasy talent – Tottenham Hotspur.

We start by analysing their performance on a team level, assessing last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas improvement. Following that, we drill down into the player data, pinpointing the key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on two specific points of interest for Fantasy managers – assessing the Dele Alli versus Christian Eriksen conundrum, while weighing up the allure of Harry Kane as a “fire and forget” captaincy option.

It’s fair to say that Mauricio Pochettino’s side showed their mettle last season after a disastrous end to 2015/16 saw them pick up two points in the final four fixtures and tumble out of the title race.

Spurs improved their points haul from 70 to 86 and also scored far more goals than beforehand – a total of 86 was far superior to 69 in the previous campaign and more than any team in the top-flight.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Is Stones nailed? Good early fixtures and looked quite attack minded with those couple of goals in pre season.
    Thoughts?

Is a bit of a doubt I'd say. Better to wait and see how Pep lines up.

IMO he only plays when Pep plays 3 at the back. In a back 4 Kompany and Otamendi seem to be first choice. So he probably isn't nailed.

More nailed than Otamendi in my opinion

Nobody knows if he will start, people are only giving an opinion, go with your gut, hes in my team. If he starts hes a good differential option, if not, the gamble hasnt payed off. Simple

Yeah watching them play in those pre season matches, I can't see why otamendi will be preferred over Stones, he was quite dreadful tbh.
As of now he's in my team as well.

      A) for me as Lukaku will be lethal and Jesus more nailed than Kun. I'd consider Eriksen instead of Alli to start with... looks in better form.

I suppose if you see Jesus as better than Aguero regardless of price then A always wins, but as of now I'm not sure I see it that way

        What if I just asked:
        Lukaku + Alli
        Vs
        Kane + Mkhi + 0.5

Trying out a potential Sanchez team (I have Kane in my present team). Let me know your thoughts!

    Forster.
    Trippier. Daniels. Jones.
    Sanchez. Alli. Mane. Fraser. Carroll.
    Lukaku. Jesus.

I think kane is the safe option as you pretty much know what your gonna get but it could start you off amazingly if the sanchez gamble differential pays off as nobody will be able to afford to get him in.

also salah>willian or even pogba would free up some funds. No point in having players that dont play. Leaves you with very little room for maneuver.

Can somebody talk to me like I'm an eight-year old (or 51). About the nuanced differences between the FREE HIT and a WILDCARD. Thx

    1. Nathan20
      • 8 Years

free ht allows you to make unlimited transfers for one gameweek meaning the following week your team will revert back to the team before you played the free hit whereas the wildcard makes them transfers permanent.

Do you guys really think Zaha is better than Ramsey? Zaha 4 goals in last 21 matches 3 of those being against some of worst teams in the league

Ramsey has looked quite threatening in the new formation.

    One week to go!

I can't remember a pre season when I've changed my team so little. But the last week throws up some big questions which could shake everything up:

    1. Will Sanchez return in time?
    2. Will a 4 million defender emerge?
    3. Will the plans of pep and klopp become any more clear?
    4. Will a signing shake things up (Siggy? Chadli?)
    5. Will injuries give us a good cheap starter? (Eg hegazi?)

      1. Highly likely although unlikely to play full game.
      2. Yes - Hunemonster could be the one.
      3. No but the previous season suggests that KGB is most likely to be nailed on.
      4. Who knows - Siggy to EVR would be exciting.
      5. There's always a cheapee about. TAA at LIV looks the one to be on and I added him in this morning.

I have him in. I was just going to put up a thread to suggest the idea of staring with three Citeh.

      i.e. Walker/KGB/Jesus.

Citeh are full of goals at this stage of the season and have the fixtures to boot.

      What are peoples' thoughts?

He showed similar form in the opening few games last season but then disappeared.

I hope you're right (he's in my team) especially now City have a far stronger squad. However, I am still a little wary.

    Laca Draft

    Foster Elliott
    Trippier Bertrand Jones Francis 4.0
    KdB Salah Fraser Gross Carroll
    Luka Laca Jesus

Rotating Carroll and Fraser & Francis and Gross

    Non Laca Draft

    Reason to choose Aguero:

Is trippling up on a team bad?

I want Walker, KDB and Jesus

Not at all. I'm doing the exact same and given the excellent start Citeh have made in the last two season, could easily pay off esp with their fixtures.

City are a good side to take that gamble on early doors. I wouldnt as it limits your big name coverage

I think I will also triple City early on but with either Danilo or Kompany

    Which option looks better

A Jesus Alli (with 2.5m itb)

    B Kane KDB ( 0 itb)

I guess it depends on what you do with the £2.5, but I think I would go for option A.

    Finally settled..

    De Gea (Elliot)
    Bertrand Kolasinac Daniels Trippier (Mason)
    Alli Lallana Fabregas Zaha (Milivojevic)
    Kane Luka(k)u (McBurnie)

    Struggling to find any weakness?

Going without Man City players could be a risk. Possible to get de Bruyne for Alli since you have Kane? Bertrand to Yoshida could be a solution.

What’s the best rotating £4.5 defender pair for the first 6–7 gameweeks?

Thanks. I’ve read the article. Since there’s been matches since, I thought might have formed new opinions on the matter.

For me it's gotta be a 4.5 3-way Tomkins- Morgan--hergazi if he sticks otherwise Cameron, was sry to see Yedlin go down.
