Our series of summer members’ articles continues this afternoon as we assess what’s on offer at the managerial merry-go-round that is Watford.

To begin with, we analyse the Hornets’ performances on a team level, checking out last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas of improvement. Following that, we take a look at the players to pinpoint their key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on new manager Marco Silva’s impact on his former club Hull City after an impressive stint at the KCOM Stadidum during the second half of 2016/17.

Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of 2015/16, scoring 40 times on their way to finishing in thirteenth spot on 45 points.

Yet the now-departed Walter Mazzarri failed to improve upon those performances in his only season at the helm. The Vicarage Road outfit scored the same number of goals but picked up just 40 points, ending the campaign in seventeenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

5 days to go, and I THINK I've finally settled on a team.

    Happy with that.

    A, B or C?
A- Salah + Ali (£1.0m in the bank for future transfers)
B- Salah + De Bruyne (£0.5m in the bank)
C- Ali + De Bruyne (£0 in the bank)

Imo 2 united offensive asset might not be rewarding. Would favor a liverpool asset rather than pogba.

      Otherwise great team

pogba & jrod to ritchie (or philips) & firmino?

I've been in two minds about Kane but finally I've decided to get him.

You don't leave the league's top scorer for the past two seasons out of your team.

IMO Kane and Lukaku (fixtures) are must have from the get go.

How's this for a spur-less draft? Fancy City, Liverpool and United to score more at the start.

    DDG
    Alonso, Kolasinac, Yoshida, Daniels
    KDB, Mkhi/Pogba, Ince
    Lukaku, Jesus, Firmino

    (Elliot, RLC, Carroll, Mariappa)

    Cheers

Cheap non-starting players/bench fodder will only drop in price - like the proverbial stone - if they have high ownership. Otherwise it's OK.

Interesting... but not drop like a stone. For that you need high ownership. It would be good if they'd let us in on the formula.

I think Ayew should get plenty of time on the pitch - he has been an almost permanent fixture since breaking into the side.

The issue is that he isn't playing as a striker. He plays an attacking midfield/winger role - so reverse OOP to an extent.

First time posting a RMT on here. Would be grateful for general views or if I'm out of the loop on anything (e.g. someone not looking like starting).

        Foster // Myhill

        Kolasinac // Daniels // Cedric // Lascelles // Long

        Alli // Mane // Willian // JWP // Carroll

        Kane // Lukaku // Hernandez

My present dilemma is whether to drop Mane and Hernandez for Mhkitaryan and Firmino.

        A few defender related questions:
        1. Is Moses nailed? If so in short term while hazard out, why no hype for 0.5 less than alonso?
        2. Is bailly back (and therefore nailed?)
        3. Yoshida vs Cedric, pros and cons
        4. What was pep's defensive record like before last season (ie bayern) as season before he came man city were well up there... Just a blip last season?

        And why?

        A. Firmino - Willian - Atsu/Mili
        B. Abraham - Salah - Ritchie

Problem is the CL qualifiers sandwiched either side of GW2. They're incredibly important to Pool. Can't see TAA playing all 5 games in the first 15 days, and don't want to risk him missing out in the PL ones.

Morning, what are your thoughts on my first draft team? (Not played this version of fantasy football so a bit wet behind the ears regarding the benched players)

        Foster
        Blind Daniels Cedric Moreno
        Eriksen Mkhitaryan Carroll
        Lukaku Kane Jesus
        (Elliott, Rangel, Ritchie, Loftus)

Change Blind to Trippier due to better prospects and security of starts.

Start Ritchie, and change Moreno to someone who is more certain to retain his role. Like Mee from Burnley.

You could also consider Pogba over Mkhi

Assuming trippier is alright, this looks more solid?

                Foster
                Trippier Daniels Cedric Mee
                Eriksen Mkhitaryan Richie
                Lukaku Kane Jesus
                (Elliott, Rangel, Carroll, Loftus)

        Forster

        Daniels - Kolasinac - Milner
        Mane - KDB - JWP - Carrol/Atsu
        Gabbiadini - Lukaku - Kane

        Gabb too risky?

Is Lukaku essential? Trying to have adequate coverage of top teams and it is very difficult. I get the feeling he could start trolling early and we could cover via Pog/Miki.

Is a catch 22 with lukaku... Going without might be OK as Jose is very defensive at the best of times, and Mkhi/Martial/Pogba can offer a degree of coverage for much cheaper ...but on the other hand, the guy is a genuine quality goal scorer & must have the highest ownership in the game to boot. Throw in those opening fixtures & for me is just to much downside & not enough upside to starting without him. If he's quiet after a few games is an easy switch to any other striker in the game apart from Kane, who also need to be in starting lineups imo. The horrors of starting without lukaku & him getting 10-15 points v west ham & a 0.1 price rise to take him just out of reach are real.
