Our series of summer members’ articles continues this afternoon as we assess what’s on offer at the managerial merry-go-round that is Watford.

To begin with, we analyse the Hornets’ performances on a team level, checking out last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas of improvement. Following that, we take a look at the players to pinpoint their key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on new manager Marco Silva’s impact on his former club Hull City after an impressive stint at the KCOM Stadidum during the second half of 2016/17.

Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of 2015/16, scoring 40 times on their way to finishing in thirteenth spot on 45 points.

Yet the now-departed Walter Mazzarri failed to improve upon those performances in his only season at the helm. The Vicarage Road outfit scored the same number of goals but picked up just 40 points, ending the campaign in seventeenth position.

    OK I am just going to say it....

    Is Moreno worth a shout at 4.5m?

    Klopp's quotes:

    "This pre-season has brought us new players. Alberto Moreno is 100 per cent back which is really nice after a difficult year.

    "Andy Robertson has shown all the skills he's got. He's still adapting to our kind of football but you can see what a threat he can be offensively.

    "That means that Millie (James Milner) is free to play in midfield. Without going into the transfer market we have a new midfield player, which is nice."

    He isn't a nailed option, but Trent Alexander-Arnold is in a few teams and he is waiting to be dropped for Clyne, whereas Moreno could secure the LB spot if his form continues. He is undoubtedly an attacking threat and with the BPS system favouring attacking full backs. Robertson needs time to adapt and Milner isn't being considered for the left back position, so surely Moreno is a viable gamble?

      He's currently in my squad, just as a punt. Nice gamble to take at 4.5 when he will be sharing the bench with Suttner.

      If he stays, brilliant.
      If he goes, hopefully it's within the league to get a starting spot.

      You might suffer points hits not having no flexibility in midfield if 9.5 players are on fire like last season (Mané, Erikson, Salah, Ali).

    Decided that I will go with 4/4/2, trying to maximize the wing-back/very attacking defenders.

    Kane, Firmino, (Quaner)

    So in a way, I'm having two or three 'mids' but with the benefit of clean sheets as well + cheaper than other prime mid choices.

    Any comment or an area of improvement?

      Lack of Utd attack with their starting fixtures could cause you issues initially. Midfield seems reasonably solid and defence looks good. Could maybe get Daniels instead of Stephens to avoid Saints double up and profit from Daniels potential attacking returns

    for those who doesn't pick Kane, is there any realistic reason why you don't start with Kane?
    I'm a bit worry with Kane on early season but I don't wanna swap Kane with Jesus. I am already fall for KDB.

      Lukaku - moved to United, 3 points behind him last year. Expect him to be right up there this year.
      Aguero - we all know what he's capable of
      Jesus - Expect him to do well
      Lacazette - unproven but has pedigree

      There are so many cheaper options that could compete with Kane this year.

      When I took Kane out of my team about 5 other players improved. Especially in defence. The benefits out way the loss.

        I've been really unhappy with my recent drafts and just a short while ago I identified the cause as a power front 3. I couldn't bring myself to lose Kane - or Kaku, but by sacrificing Jesus, the 5m has allowed me to completely transform my defence - all 5 players. Looking well solid now.

    Man City fixtures are quite terrible really. We know they struggle away from home. Their fixture list is basically difficult home opponents and easy opponents away.

      Id say there fixtures are pretty good, confident in them netting against everton and probably liverpool. Clean sheets are a different story though hahahah.

    But Wenger said the only reason Kolasinac didn't start was because "of the occasion", so should start GW1...
