Our series of summer members’ articles continues this afternoon as we assess what’s on offer at the managerial merry-go-round that is Watford.

To begin with, we analyse the Hornets’ performances on a team level, checking out last season’s data in order to spot trends and areas of improvement. Following that, we take a look at the players to pinpoint their key individuals.

For this article, we also focus on new manager Marco Silva’s impact on his former club Hull City after an impressive stint at the KCOM Stadidum during the second half of 2016/17.

Watford parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of 2015/16, scoring 40 times on their way to finishing in thirteenth spot on 45 points.

Yet the now-departed Walter Mazzarri failed to improve upon those performances in his only season at the helm. The Vicarage Road outfit scored the same number of goals but picked up just 40 points, ending the campaign in seventeenth position.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

“Dwight is training with the fitness coach, so hopefully he can carry on training this week. “If everything is fine, I think he will be OK for Sunday. “He needs the confidence to know he can sprint and do everything as he was doing before. “It’s a question of confidence, so we will carry on pushing him in training, and hopefully we can get back the confidence.” Asked if it was a hamstring problem, Benitez added: “It’s not his hamstring – it’s more the feeling that he has. “He’s not comfortable, and we don’t want to take any risks.”

    Thoughts on this team?

    Foster
    Bertrand / Dawson / Daniels
De Bruyne / Eriksen / Salah / Milivojevic
    Kane / Lukaku / Abraham

    Elliot / Carroll / Suttner / Rosenior

Main issue is West Brom double up at the back, not sure who to swap out to solve this...

Very similar to mine. I've currently got Jesus and Willian over Kane and Mili. I'm thinking with doubling on Soton at the back instead of West Brom. Got Bertrand and Stephens with Daniels currently.

In a sense he's an answer to 1) the uncertainty over which liverpool midfielder to get from at least three legitimate options, and 2) the lack of a stand-out choice for third striker.

Pick 3 united since good fixtures
Pick two city attackers since they will score the most
Pick two value saints players since good fixtures
Pick cheapest GK with backup combo
Fill the rest of the team with crap

    How does it look?

    Foster, Myhill
    Valencia, Cedric, Moreno (Clark, Hunemeier)
De Bruyne, Pogba, Ward-Prowse, Loftus-Cheek (Carroll)

    Mignolet, (Coleman)

Who are your 'flexible friends' i.e. the players who you consider losing to jump on a player who appears to be form?

Mine are Daniels, Willian, DeBruyne and Firmino. By contrast I have Kane, Mane and Jesus, players I expect I'll give more time to shine, as I believe in their 'season keeper' status in a greater degree in those fore mentioned.

    I see it like this:

    1. DeBruyne becomes Hazard/Sanchez
    2. Firmino can become any budget striker
    3. Willian is easily changed to a plethora of options 7m or less
    4. Daniels is 5m and I consider that price range expendable for someone I want to start with each week.

Flexibility is key, don't forget it!

The guy that is first in gwk1 will have some obscure selection that is nothing like the template. Some people will have to be jumped on! I'll more likely take an early hit to get 2 form players in, the value in the long run will outweigh this. I've even been considering starting a team in GWK2 for my cash league, however if you have the balls to make 5-8 transfers that's still less likely to topple your gwk1 score (avg 50 points). I'd say early -4 to -12 are probably reasonable and more justifiable in gwk2 than at any other point.

Yep, and it probably takes a week or two for injuries, or just not being quality.

Nah, it's a stab in the dark really. Seeing lots of Rangel/Hunemeier but they won't play

I was wondering about Gamez at New Castle, though I don't even know if he's a winger. Sucks Yedlin is out.
I now have Speroni/ Elliot who are both gonna start by the looks of it. The .5 got me to Alonso.

    Second attempt at a RMT:

    Foster
    Yoshi Daniels Mee
    Pogba willian KDb Zaha
    Lukaku Kane Firmino

    Rangel, Hunemeier, Carroll, Elliot

Possible swaps Daniels//Ake, Willian and Carroll for iwobi and Phillips
    any help appreciated

I prefer Ake. Mee rotates really well with Hergazi for 8 weeks, and you'd be better off with that and Foster> 4.0 Speroni--CP have good fixtures too.
Rangel is gonna drop in price cuz of big ownership.
I'd keep Willian for sure, and just got shot down on Iwobi not being nailed (I went with Fraser). Good luck.
