FFS Cup

Fantasy Football Scout Cup – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football managers may well be cursing the impact of the FA Cup on their seasons, but we’re hoping that our 16th Fantasy Football Scout Cup can help add some welcome cheer.

This Fantasy Premier League Cup competition will take place over the over the run-in, a period beset by blanks and chips. To add a further twist and to prevent teams entered specifically for this tournament, we are ruling that all entered teams must have been registered for FPL in Gameweek 1.

Once again there are £300 in prizes on offer.

Sign-up can be found here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi and our new reigning champion, TH14.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How does the Cup Competition Work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 29, with the first round proper running in Gameweek 30.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 5, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

How do I enter?

Enter via the entry form here.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

You entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team Id as part of the process.
To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The list is here.

Please note that only teams that have been registered with FPL for Gameweek 1 will be eligible for the competition.

How do I find my FPL team Id?

Your FPL Id is your unique Id for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL id field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after March 5 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

The competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule, though this could be subject to change.

Fantasy Football Scout Cup Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 5.

Prizes

Overall prizes
The prizes for the cup are as follows:

1st Place: £150 Amazon voucher
2nd Place: £100 Amazon voucher
3rd Place: £50 Amazon voucher

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed so we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament.

Ideally, you will already have a username with us, but this is not essential to enter.

You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, should you enter multiple teams, or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament at any stage.

Added the "registered for Gameweek 1 " qualification pre-requisite for this as last time out the point was made that teams were being created for the FPL Cup and ours.

We could do a later Gameweek but I figured that very few teams here will be restricted by this.

We can can relax this to a later Gameweek if folk feel that this is appropriate. Let us know your thoughts.

I don't know if anyone had the issue this time around, but last season I had troubles logging in just before the GW1 deadline, so ended up having to start only from GW2. Maybe allow till the end of the transfer window (seems oddly apt) which would mean registered for GW4 I guess?

Any measure to help stamp out multi team merchants i am 100% in favor of.

If someone happened to miss the gw one deadline which would be rare around these parts i am sure if they make an appeal that an accommodation could be made if the story looks genuine.

    GW28: Otamendi to VVD
    GW29: Aguero to Firmino
    GW30: Obiang to Walcot/Stanislas
    GW31: Elliot to Pickford

It would be very interesting as it adds another option for the Free Hit. Chelsea, City and Arsenal all have nice GW30 fixtures but poor fixtures otherwise. The GW31 teams have generally poor GW30 fixtures.

I've been wondering this. Gw30 City dgw could actually happen if it's a draw here, right? The Stoke MNF game would get brought forward, like the Spurs game.

Yeah. Stoke away likely brought forward to a televise-able time over the weekend and then Brighton on Tues/Wed.

'If ARS v MCI is a GW28 Blank, MCI could get 3 Blanks this season. The way I see it, the only way to reschedule those 3 Blanks would be to move Man City's GW31 Blank vs BHA to the midweek after GW30 (MCI have a week off then, ARS don't), then move their other 2 Blanks to GWs 34+37' - Ben Crelin.

not neccessarily. There are many ways to get the same score without getting the same number of goals. You could also use assists, bps, cs, or gc(not sure what order you'd pick though) and unless they have the exact same team I doubt that those would be the same

City and Wigan draw so City win the tie by virtue of a higher league position ... don't think that would widely acclaimed.

I don't understand why you'd use that though. The person who advances each week in the cup is the person who has better players just that single week. I that using the bonus points system would work as it shows how well your players play and there shouldn't be many ties

That's why there is a replay and penalties. Doesn't work in this competition.

Do you really have better players if they score the same?

Doing it on goals scored is a real disadvantage that those of us that like to play 5-4-1 formation.

Can anyone explain why the FPL statistics Delta seems to reset each day for some players. Since I have Mbemba on my team, I've noticed that he's been very close to rising for several days. He never reaches 100, though, and along with other players close to rising, his Delta seems to reset to about 1k every new day.

Assume it's guesswork each day based on a small sample size. Then resets each day to actual transfers.

I could really do with some advice on my next moves. 1FT and all my chips left...

          DDG / Elliot
Otamendi / Alonso / Duffy, Kenny, Ogbonna
Salah / Sterling / Walcott / Mkhitaryan, Chamberlain
          Wilson / Aguero / Firmino

0.3 itb and i'm willing to take a -4 and make 2 transfers, and get Ox out so I can have 3 pool

I just wanted to say that being part of this FPL community has been a WELCOME DISTRACTION to me for an otherwise pretty rough time!

My wife has been in hospital for over 2 weeks with a lung infection along with her brittle asthma and between juggling work, seeing to her and trying to be both mummy and daddy for our twin 2 year old girls FPL has a great escape!

Just wanted to say thanks and here’s hoping City and Wigan draw to bring forth more blanking carnage! 🙂

            650k OR atm.

Breaking into 100k not very realistic is it? Have all the chips but having a nightmare season, lost my bearings.
