FFS Cup

Fantasy Football Scout Cup – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football managers may well be cursing the impact of the FA Cup on their seasons, but we’re hoping that our 16th Fantasy Football Scout Cup can help add some welcome cheer.

This Fantasy Premier League Cup competition will take place over the over the run-in, a period beset by blanks and chips. To add a further twist and to prevent teams entered specifically for this tournament, we are ruling that all entered teams must have been registered for FPL in Gameweek 1.

Once again there are £300 in prizes on offer.

Sign-up can be found here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi and our new reigning champion, TH14.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How does the Cup Competition Work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 29, with the first round proper running in Gameweek 30.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 5, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

How do I enter?

Enter via the entry form here.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

You entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team Id as part of the process.
To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The list is here.

Please note that only teams that have been registered with FPL for Gameweek 1 will be eligible for the competition.

How do I find my FPL team Id?

Your FPL Id is your unique Id for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL id field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after March 5 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

The competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule, though this could be subject to change.

Fantasy Football Scout Cup Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 5.

Prizes

Overall prizes
The prizes for the cup are as follows:

1st Place: £150 Amazon voucher
2nd Place: £100 Amazon voucher
3rd Place: £50 Amazon voucher

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed so we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament.

Ideally, you will already have a username with us, but this is not essential to enter.

You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, should you enter multiple teams, or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament at any stage.

Professional lip reader here. Pretty clear Aguero says:

"I'll eat your children and shit them over the FA" in Argentinian. It's a colloquial phrase but not acceptable nonetheless.

1FT and all my chips left

      DDG / Elliot
Otamendi / Alonso / Duffy, Kenny, Ogbonna
Salah / Sterling / Walcott / Mkhitaryan, Chamberlain
      Wilson / Aguero / Firmino

0.3 itb and i'm willing to take a -4 and make 2 transfers, and get Ox out so I can have 3 pool

      A. Aguero + Chamberlain --> Kane + Milojevic

      B. Aguero + Otamendi --> Kane + 5.4 (cant be VVD as I have 3 pool)

      C. Any other suggestions

It's the option I have been planning since GW1, now there are no blanks in GW28 and 4 games in GW31 (I can field 10 players without hits) it's a no brainier IMO.

A lot of people on here seem to be advocating use of the free hit chip in GW31 rather than GW35 largely because there are more games in GW35 and therefore more choice - but doesn't that mean it should be much easier to field 10 or 11 in GW35 anyway (even if stocking up on GW34 doubles)?

I wonder if we're all missing a trick in loading up on players from teams such as Bournemouth just so they can play in GW31 for us, when other teams like Spurs, Leicester, Burnley and Arsenal (after this week) have so much better fixtures over the next 6-8 weeks if you ignore GW31.

I'm contemplating wildcarding this week to load up on these players to take advantage of both their good fixtures now as well as their doubles later on as well, then free hit in GW31. Bad idea?

the problem with fhc 31 iss that most will have salah c firmino vvd/mane so you might not get that much of an advantage using it

Yeah it’s more whether I could get more points from ignoring all of the other teams that don’t blank around GW31, then getting as much from 31 as possible.

No team that has a DGW's in GW34 and GW37 is going to have a game in GW35 as well. So DGW'er heavy teams in GW34 and GW37 and anything like a full team in GW35 is an impossibility without using the FH chip IMO.

        1. Pooodle

Won’t the GW34 doubles be from 31, and the 37 doubles from 35? So teams without a double in 34 don’t necessarily blank in 35?

That should say “teams with a double in 34 don’t necessarily blank in 35”.

Yes, which means you can't be DGW heavy in DGW34 and field a full 11 in GW35 without playing the FH chips or taking multipal blanks. Best case scenario would be 6 DGW'ers in GW34, if you want to field a full 11 in GW35 as well.

The only way that a team can have a double in GW34 and GW37 is if they make the FA Semi's, which means they will have a blank in GW35.

Some teams will have a double in 34 and a game in 35 and if you don't play fh in 35 you can carry a transfer and bring in 4 double gw players for 37. Depends when you are playing BB really but if playing it in 37 you can have 4 players on bench that have no double in 34 and a game in 35 and a double in 37. Add in salah and firmino who have nice single gw fixture you might only play 9 doubles in 34 meaning you have at least 6 players for 35 maybe with 4 double gw players from 34 that have a game in 35 you could be able to get a full squad for 37 with 10 players for 35.

I think the majority belives the FH is best used in gw35... but if one does not have a wc, I would advocate using the chip in 31- in order to load up on dgw players instead of non blanking player... with city out, it will be easier to navigate the bgw35 as most people will have liverpool, city, arsenal (and leicester) teams in their squad...

If I had a wc, I would really be in doubt when it comes to the use of the FH chip and the wc as well

I have no wc, so I would have been using the chip in 31 regardless of the result tonight.. but now I can field 11 come gw35 and still have the best dgw options for gw37.. using the chip in 35 just got less appealing even with a wc in hand as most people will have arsenal, city, liverpool (and leicester) players at their disposal ... so im stoked!

No value for me, and Matip is a terrific player.

Stanislas has been getting hooked at 60 mins each match and BOU have lots of fit attacking players - that is what concerns me.

You've bought Stanislas as part of a -4 inorder to bench the player you had enough faith in to captain last week who plays Watford this week?

As a Walcott owner I hope you get rid hard.

That would be the full wild card, though? Is now the moment?

No worries, I'm also hoping Mahrez brings out the best in him (Kane, Firmino, Vardy owner)
