FFS Cup

Fantasy Football Scout Cup – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football managers may well be cursing the impact of the FA Cup on their seasons, but we’re hoping that our 16th Fantasy Football Scout Cup can help add some welcome cheer.

This Fantasy Premier League Cup competition will take place over the over the run-in, a period beset by blanks and chips. To add a further twist and to prevent teams entered specifically for this tournament, we are ruling that all entered teams must have been registered for FPL in Gameweek 1.

Once again there are £300 in prizes on offer.

Sign-up can be found here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi and our new reigning champion, TH14.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How does the Cup Competition Work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 29, with the first round proper running in Gameweek 30.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 5, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

How do I enter?

Enter via the entry form here.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

You entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team Id as part of the process.
To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The list is here.

Please note that only teams that have been registered with FPL for Gameweek 1 will be eligible for the competition.

How do I find my FPL team Id?

Your FPL Id is your unique Id for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL id field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after March 5 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

The competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule, though this could be subject to change.

Fantasy Football Scout Cup Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 5.

Prizes

Overall prizes
The prizes for the cup are as follows:

1st Place: £150 Amazon voucher
2nd Place: £100 Amazon voucher
3rd Place: £50 Amazon voucher

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed so we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament.

Ideally, you will already have a username with us, but this is not essential to enter.

You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, should you enter multiple teams, or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament at any stage.

What say you? Is Eriksen worth the 1.1m more?

    A) Son + VVD + Mee
    B) Eriksen + Robertson + Lowton

Yes. Son for me is now a non-option due to Lucas Moura, Aldy and Lamela being available

The Aldy factor. A fine point... (one of the reasons I ditched him before to be honest). Still trying to sort my WC team.

        It's looking something like this:
        Fabianski Gomes
        Davies Monreal Robertson Hegazi Lowton
        KDB Eriksen Salah Walcott Ibe
        Kane Firmino Vardy

Probably going to struggle through BGW31, don't see many high points scores. Gomes, Hegazi and Robertson I'm unsure of. Especially Robertson, as I have Davies. Feel like a risk or two might be worth it.

A - not sure if son can retain his spot
B - not sure if robert can keep his spot

A looks optimal to get more points

I'll more than likely have Kane + Davies, so a little less investment in The Spurs might make sense. IF they have a bad day then ya bois in trub.

on the contrary - son will keep his spot for PL games but will not start for CL games.
Alli is the one who will now sit more on the bench for both PL and CL until he get his head straight...

That COULD be one remaining CL game. From what I've seen as a Liverpool Red Sox fan, Alli has been poor for a while now yet constantly starts. I hope you're right. Fankies!

i think Lucas is more then capable of taking over Alli, if poch plays that fast breakaway game. Alli is just sulking over wages, once hes dropped for 2-3games straight...he will sulk no more!

Have currently got three flagged defenders (Alonso, Jones & Mawson), so potentially a back two of VVD and Ogbonna for this GW.

If the team news isn't good, do you think
Jones to Daniels for a -4 is worth it (with GW 31 in mind too) ?

I’m in the same position mate. I’m thinking of doing Jones to someone, just waiting on pressers later this week. If Jones is out and I’ve got no Def playing subs. I see the -4 as probably only -2 due to whoever I put in should at least play. Good luck!

    Who goes first?
    1) Ota
    2) Azpi

Based on the 1-5 difficulty scale on the official FPL game, they have the same avg. for their next three. Most people are saying Ota. But, Chelsea also has Barca tomorrow, City has Arsenal twice and spaced out.

Considering Azpi frees up more funds, am I wrong to lean toward him? Or am I just trying to convince myself?

Tough one, I binned Ota this week for VVD. It depends on who the replacement is and the rest of your team.

Which option looks the best? I like B but last time I ditched Alonso he booted goals in consecutive games.

    A) Jones, Sanchez and Depoitre ~> Zanka, Mahrez and Firmino (-4)

    B) Alonso, Sanchez and Depoitre ~> VVD, Eriksen and Firmino (-4)

I think I'm going for FH31. Have 2FT with all chips/wc intact. The city game in GW35 is making it that much easier for me to take my current team thru to GW36

    FH31
    BB34
    WC36
    TC37

Including Quaner I only have 3 players for GW31 right now (Salah and Milivojevic) which is probably lighter than most other teams

Rather than spend the next 5 transfers bringing in GW31 players I'd rather bring in Mahrez and Mhki.

      1) GW 31 FH
      2) GW 32/33 WC
      3) GW 34 BB
      4) GW 37 TC

Might rotate usage of TC / BB.

Why? MUN can keep a clean sheet. Just make sure you have a good backup if he doesn't play.

is it madness that I did Wimmer to Daniels for a hit and am benching Daniels this week?I mean have to do the move in GW 31 for a hit anyway and if Jones doesn't play then Daniels comes off the bench.and I can play him ahead of Alonso next week.

Just got 4 players for gw 31.. and no bench boost... Going upto max 9.. Apart from salah, shaq, firmi, vvd/mane who seems to be essential for gw 31?

    1. HammersXI

Maybe Walcott / Wilson? I don't think there's really alot of essential players other than those from Liverpool.

Yep... I guess no need to go absolute bonkers and fill up with likes of hudds, palace players...
Looking to bring in vardy this gw...

Niasse, Ake, Daniels, Walcott, Wilson, Lossl, PVA.

I dont think any of them are essential bar Walcott. In a FH team maybe yes but for a normal team, I don't see the need to shred your team just for those players and for a GW.

Which looks better, Jones & Sterling out for...

    A) VVD & Eriksen
    B) Rubbish DGW defender option that isn’t VVD & Mane

Do you plan to use FH on GW31?

If yes, potentially Maguire and Mahrez?

If not VVD and Eriksen / Mahrez looks good?

Already used my free hit in the last DGW (failure) but have rest of my chips remaining!

I also already have Maguire so would prefer Eriksen over the Leicester double up!

I was tempted by Mane but with Salah & Firmino I feel it’s too much if Liverpool have an off game, maybe VVD the ‘safer’ option.

Then yes I do agree that your moves sound good! VVD is good to spread the risk also.

However, with FA Cup and UCL, Tottenham might still have quite a bit of rotation - so potentially Eriksen might only last around 70 mins per game

One who plan FH 35, with City out from the FA Cup, are you stick to the plan? Change to FH 31/37? Or else?

I was planning to FH in 35, but 31 may be a better time to use it.
