FFS Cup

Fantasy Football Scout Cup – Entry Now Open

Fantasy Football managers may well be cursing the impact of the FA Cup on their seasons, but we’re hoping that our 16th Fantasy Football Scout Cup can help add some welcome cheer.

This Fantasy Premier League Cup competition will take place over the over the run-in, a period beset by blanks and chips. To add a further twist and to prevent teams entered specifically for this tournament, we are ruling that all entered teams must have been registered for FPL in Gameweek 1.

Once again there are £300 in prizes on offer.

Sign-up can be found here.

The roll call of former cup winners looks like this: donnellyc, Jonty, Gribude, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleeping master, Mch, Wild Rover, Tdubb05 , CMIFLFC, Mark, Leon Harris, A Manager Has No Name, Sleepysi and our new reigning champion, TH14.

As former winners, those listed will gain a bye to the first round of the tournament should they enter with the same username.

If you’re new to our cup competitions, read on for an FAQ, offering all the details.

How does the Cup Competition Work?

The FFS Cup is very similar to the Fantasy Premier League’s own Fantasy Cup game.

Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores).

In the event of a tie, the manager highest in the overall FPL rankings after the tie will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup will take place in Gameweek 29, with the first round proper running in Gameweek 30.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 5, when we’ll stop entries and make the first round draws shortly after.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames listed above to gain their bye.

How do I enter?

Enter via the entry form here.

You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry and you’ll be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

You entry is only completed once you have confirmed your FPL team Id as part of the process.
To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of entries.

The list is here.

Please note that only teams that have been registered with FPL for Gameweek 1 will be eligible for the competition.

How do I find my FPL team Id?

Your FPL Id is your unique Id for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number, or your Gameweek History URL, in the FPL id field on the entry form.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the Fantasy Football Scout Cup qualifying round will be published shortly after March 5 and then weekly, after the completion of each Gameweek, from that point on.

What is the Gameweek Schedule?

The competition will be played out according to the following proposed Gameweek schedule, though this could be subject to change.

Fantasy Football Scout Cup Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
Where possible, the fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 5.

Prizes

Overall prizes
The prizes for the cup are as follows:

1st Place: £150 Amazon voucher
2nd Place: £100 Amazon voucher
3rd Place: £50 Amazon voucher

Do I have to enter if I’m previous winner?

Yes, because your FPL team ID will have changed so we will need to record your entry again. As a previous winner, you will be given a bye to the first round proper.

Do I need to be registered with Fantasy Football Scout?

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament.

Ideally, you will already have a username with us, but this is not essential to enter.

You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, should you enter multiple teams, or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament at any stage.

If I can field around 9 players for bgw31 with minimal hits - am I best still saving the free hit for gw35??

Even if it's not quite as good an option as we thought it would be before the city match?

    Thanks

9 players out for that week with no or maybe one hit seems ok.

The other option is to get on good players rather than Stoke, Watford and Hud for the next 3.

But overall, with 9, prob save the FH Chip

      Yes.

In don’t have my triple captain, so I’m getting 11 players for 31, then FH in 34.

It is, situation could change between 32 and 33. I may hold on to the team for a week but there's quite a couple of changes I need to make which I keep delaying (no second GK, pickford placing MCI in 32 etc), although if my midfield is decent from 31 to 32 I think I'll hold

May try to get KDB in which requires some surgery across defensive line-up

That'd make 7 for 31? Depends how many you'd be happy to field. If you're wanting close to 11 so bringing GW31 players from now on I'd say that'd hurt your points more than not FH in 35.

Which teams will do the following?

    Gw31 blank
    Gw34 DGW
    Gw35-GW38 no more blanks

For me as I will use FH in 31 and have no wildcard these look to be the players for me to target.

So, does the City result change people's plans for the FH chip?

I am still pretty much on the edge on when to use it, but now I am leaning towards GW31, seeing as I only have three players who play then and one of them is McArthur.

It's a royal PITA for those who were well planned-up for 31 and planning to FH in 35, that's for sure

It'll probably only be Utd and Tot who have a blank in 35, and that's easily planned around IMHO

Back to the drawing board for me, I'm afraid

It's still not a total bust. ManU, Chelsea and Spurs likely to progress to R7, so they'll have a double in 34 and blank in 35.

I reckon a lot of people will want to have their assets for the doubles and will be struggling to get rid of them for 35. I know I would. That's what makes it so difficult.

31 will, probably, be a low scoring affair though, and if you're already half well-set-up for 31 (I have 6 already, for example) then it means - IMO - revisiting the 'obvious' plan of WC in 32, FH in 35 with a look at savinf the WC til the 2nd DGW

Not saying i'm doing it, but I need to have a fiddle (fnar) and see if I could get away with not going too mental with 31 players and having a team that could see me though to 33 (and deliver in 35) FH in 34 and WC for the 2nd DGW

OTOH I'd rather to pull out my teeth than bet on which players don't have pre-WC niggles at the end of the season

Well...last year the big blank GW came to owning 2-3 players: Lukaku, Coleman and most importantly King. I think this year will be similar with Salah and Firmino, but one of the others will probably be the big hero. I'm putting my bet on Wilson at the moment, though you never know. Using the FH chip will just maximize the potential of getting those 1-2 big scorers.

IF Swansea lose to, presumably, Spurs in the FA cup semi final, that would add City v Swansea to GW35.

This would mean only Chelsea, Utd and Spurs from the big teams blanking. I know this would be post WC and between DGWs but might that make 35 possible to negotiate and mean FH in 31 to avoid getting in Walcott and co from now on?

I understand the logic of FH35 but getting in players from GW31 teams for any more than one week seems like what the FH what designed for us to avoid doing.

I agree entirely about the bad-taste-in-the-mouth of getting in f-awful Everton players too far ahead of their game at Stoke

But I also feel that using ANY chip on Everton away at Stoke is asking for dissapointment

I agree it could be low-scoring week. Certainly attacking-wise but I'm thinking of going after CS. If I can pick two CS (a gamble but what isn't) and go 5 at the back that's 35+ points.

    2. Darklord_bg
      • 7 Years
      6 years, 1 month ago

Indeed...though I would say only Salah and Sterling are worth saving from the midfielders, which gives you Walcott/Shaq/Milli for the other three, which is not so bad.

Then having Wilson as 3rd forward is not so bad as well (presumably your other two are Firmino and Kane/Kun).

Then Daniels and Bauer in defense are pretty cheap and the premium defenders have tough fixtures in the next game weeks anyway.

Can get this team by GW31 with no hits:

    Lossl
    VVD - Dawson - Mariappa
Salah - Walcott- Shaqiri - Sigurdsson
Firmino - Wilson - (one blank player)

So would those 10 be enough to score well in GW31? Any important assets I'm missing?

      Ask your self ...
      - is this the team I would pick if there was no blank to worry about
      - how many more points would I get from now to 31 and after, if I simply selected the players I actually wanted

Perhaps the main change would be to get Erikson in now and probably miss out on Sigurdsson for GW31, so would that be more points? Probably yeah

It’s a tricky one and really depends on the team you have at the moment ... I like the idea of bringing in the likes of Aubameyang, Mikhi, Maguire, Vardy, Mahrez, Eriksen, Arnie etc for their good fixtures and the double in 34 ... rather than Shaq, Wilson, Walcott, Mili, Ibe etc

1M ITB, 2FT. What do I do here, plan is to field 7-8 players in BGW and save FH for 35. WC in 33:

    Pope,Elliot
    Azpi,Otamendi,Maguire,Kiko,Rangel
    Salah,Walcott,Shaq,Sterling,Lingard
    Kane,Firmino,Wilson

Thoughts on these moves to get this team? It is for a -8. I could hold off getting VVD and play Ogbonna or Kenny instead for -4.

Jones, Otamendi, Sanchez and Depoitre ~> VVD, Dawson, Eriksen and Firmino (-8)

    Hennessey
    Alonso / VVD / Dawson
    Salah / Eriksen / Sterling / Walcott
    Kane / Firmino / Wilson

    Speroni / Choupo-Moting / Ogbonna / Kenny

Could easily pay of this week alone, and definitely will pay off between now and GW31 so would go for it.

    Repost...

Have only 4 players for BGW 31 - Salah, Firmino, Walcott & Shaqiri. 2FTs in hand with 2.8mn ITB currently. Which option will be more beneficial?

    A) Stock up on Leicester, Spurs, etc. upto GW31, FH 31, WC 32/33
    B) Start getting BGW 31 players to have atleast 8 or 9, WC 32/33, FH35

A - because you won’t even need to WC in 33 if it suits you at the time
