Double Gameweek 34 Confirmed

The Premier League have belatedly revealed a number of rescheduled fixtures to confirm Double Gameweek 34.

However, the news is not quite what many had anticipated, with only eight teams set to play twice.

Indeed, just one of the matches postponed in Gameweek 31 due to FA Cup matches – Burnley vs Chelsea – has so far been rescheduled.

This is joined by three matches shifted out of Gameweek 35 for similar reasons – Brighton vs Spurs, Bournemouth vs Man United and Leicester vs Southampton.

Essentially, then, the eight sides facing a Double Gameweek 34, and their subsequent schedules, are as follows.

Confirmed Double Gameweek 34 schedule
Bournemouth (liv MUN)
Brighton (cry TOT)
Burnley (LEI CHE)
Chelsea (sot bur)
Leicester (bur SOT)
Man United (WBA bou)
Southampton (CHE lei)
Spurs (MCI bha)

Of the eight, Burnley are the only side to play two home matches in this round.

Up against Leicester and Chelsea at Turf Moor in Gameweek 34, though, Sean Dyche’s men hardly have it easy. Indeed, they are one of three teams – along with Bournemouth and Southampton – to face top eight opponents on both occasions.

However, Burnley are the only Double Gameweek 34 outfit to also play in Gameweek 35, when they make their way to Stoke.

Meanwhile, Man United are the only side to go up against opponents outwith the top eight, while just one team – Chelsea – hit the road on two occasions.

As a result of today’s announcement, the following matches still require a new date.

Chelsea vs Huddersfield
Leicester vs Arsenal
Man City vs Brighton
Swansea vs Southampton
Tottenham vs Newcastle
West Ham vs Man United

The Premier League have confirmed that these will be rescheduled by Tuesday April 3 – before Gameweek 33 – though it is anticipated that 12 teams will now face a Double Gameweek 37.

We will have more reaction and analysis of the implications on today’s announcement later, with a series of articles over the next week ahead of the Gameweek 32 deadline on Saturday March 31.

For those on wildcard - anyone else tempted with having Aubameyang for 32 and 33 and then ditching for Lukaku for 34?

Nope. Don’t wanna go wasting transfers.

I’m going balls deep with DGWers. Bench boost the hell out of it.

Tickle a cheeky free hit on the blanks then triple captain Harry Kane until he has an anal prolapse.

      Flawless.

It’s something I’m considering. But what if Kane is also back and we need to get both Kane & Kaku?

I actually think Kane in 34 could be someone you ignore. If he is back by then he probably won't be fully fit and one of the fixtures is City at home.

Yes - we'll have 2FT for 34, so mustn't lose sight of this.

Lukaku could do well against Swansea though, so it is a matter of weighing that up against the value of using a FT.

The big difference is City away in GW33. I'd much rather have Auba that GW.

I did take a look at this, but I think I'm leaning towards having Lukaku and Aubemayang on wildcard, then switching Aubemayang to Kane for GW36 if Kane is back.

Not really, as I don't want to plan a transfer. But Aubameyang's fixtures are good until the end of the season. Even with only one double.. could he still be worth having?

Thanks for this idea. I've been trying to either fit Luka and Auba in together or choose between them full-time for ages but somehow didn't see the forest for the trees and didn't even consider having both at different times. And this idea is perfect for me - I still don't really trust Lukaku and United yet despite the good recent returns. A couple of extra weeks to see if the form holds before the DGW suits me nicely. Think I'll be doing this now.

Have to say I think all the best TC options are in GW37 now. City, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester.

Was planning TC37 anyway, but it's hurt my plans in GW34 because not only does Auba not have a double but the best cheap enablers in Swansea and Newcastle options are gone too. 🙁

Only thing I still feel confident of is FH35.

City couldn't really have a better double than BHA and HUD if they both get moved to 37. Aguero TC?

I'm tempted to remove Auba for Lukaku on my wildcard. Burnley look good for cheap defensive enablers - think I will double up.

As much as I got rid of them at bad times, I'm at least glad I don't have to carry Otamendi and Sterling all the way to 37.

Things will become clearer with their CL situation as we get closer to the end.

Burnley look even better now. Decent fixtures all the way; cheap and solid players across the board.

Interesting point on Sterling. I've had him for ages and thought he was a season keeper but now wondering about removing him for someone who doubles in 34.

If City beat Liverpool in the CL they could still be a bit of a minefield in 37 which follows the semi-final second leg.

Good luck bringing in the likes of Hazard,Auba,City attackers and Kane with 2 FTs after FHing in 35.

Those teams have great doubles in 37 and I'm assuming most would covet those players.

Also, GW 32 WCers have to FH in 35 because their GW 32 WC team would have the blankers of 35.

Balancing would mean compromising on the DGW 34 team.

    In a pickle.

So, you will have 3 City + 3 Arsenal for DGW 34?

That's only 5 DGW 34 players for you then.

                My GW 35 team -

                Ederson
                Keane - Kiko - Lowton
                Salah - Mane - Walcott - Stanislas
                Aubameyang - Firmino - Deeney

                DDG - Mahrez - Fernandez - Hunemeier

Not sure if FHs will have something more special than that.

I'd have City and Everton defence + 3 Pool attackers+ Sterling + Auba.

League won for City. High chances to get the City striker wrong. Rotation threat for 2nd Arsenal asset with EL.

Missing out only on Pool and Arsenal defence then. I'll take that.

I don't see what the big deal is - if people prefer to load up with DGW37 players, just optimise your team for that set-up instead.

Furthermore, no guarantee all the games will go to GW37 - look at Arsenal and Southampton last year. Different circumstances, but can't assume 100%.

This is getting a bit pathetic now.

Yes, we get it, you didn't wildcard, you're happy.

But you're essentially saying everyone else got it wrong because YOUR team SHOULD be okay without using it this week.

Not everyone is in the same predicament and still has other plans. Give it a rest.

        • 14 Years

Couldn't have said it better. Most of us who are wildcarding are doing so because our teams had far too many players from bad teams that played in 31.

I would have wildcarded regardless of when the doubles were confirmed.

        Pathetic is harsh.

Been on this forum long enough now.

'Player dead' posts are not pathetic or frowned upon in this forum but stating the obvious facts are. Don't think I've been condescending in any way.

But, like you say I will refrain from posting on this topic and 'give it a rest'.

So it comes down to two options eventually

    - WC now and BB in 34 but without being blinded by the fact to have 15DGW so as you can slowly integrate City assets looking towards 37
    - WC in 36 and BB in 37

for those who all have their chips left, the funny thuk is that it actually can be quite tricky to play your TC

Can't see that the change makes that much difference.
Mun over Ars, different 2nd gk/cheap defs, no Arnie/Mci option.

Main issue is lack of FT's after 35 FH for the likes of Kane/Ars/perhaps Mci subject to rotation opinion.
Or not having FH at all - that looks a problem.

I still think I would have wildcarded anyway to shift the dross from my team.

Is this lot a good wildcard team?

      de Gea, Fabianski
      Mustafi, Smalling, Christensen, Morgan, Fernández
Salah, D. Silva, Mahrez, Son, Willian
      Aubameyang, Firmino, Barnes

      Fernández or Lowton?
      David Silva or Mkhitaryan?
Alonso in the team would be fine. But then I must loose another good player.

Once the dust settles, I am not sure much has changed for me - the main impact is swapping out Swansea for Brighton defenders. Southampton fodder may be an option too.

One issue is that Brighton fixtures turn nasty in a few weeks so won't want them if are you bench boosting in 37.

Arsenal not having a dgw in 34 has impact - but Aubameyang can relatively easily become Lukaku for 34.

Brighton and Southampton so much less appealing than Swansea and Newcastle. 🙁

From Brighton I'd only be interested in Ryan, Gross and Murray. Don't know enough about Southampton under Hughes but their fixtures are poor and they've not been useful in FPL anyway. Maybe JWP, Hojbjerg, a defender or McCarthy but they're all unpredictable.

Yeah I reckon both Brighton and Southampton will struggle to reward any investment and their doubles are tough too.

I actually like Brighton's first double. Palace rivalry and Spurs could still be Kane-less, plus I think they'll be motivated to secure their safety at the first opportunity. Decent risk vs. reward, especially with Gross and Murray who are great at getting bonus if they do anything. Will carry one or two of them up to GW36 I think.

THe biggest problem I can see is that now there are fewer enablers about and so we are going to have to concentrate them amongst teams like Leicester, Burnley, Brighton. I could easily see the latter two not getting any cleanies in 34.

I think the key thing for me is that on balance having 15 DGW players may no longer be the best option. Instead might be better to supplement with 2 or 3 players with a single plum fixture in 34 (and DGW in 37) instead

        1. Pooodle

We will have to. I planned to anyway. My issue is that with Swans, Newcastle etc out of the frame you now have to double or triple on Burnley and Brighton if you want to field 15 DGW players. Think that could be counterproductive

                    Willian Salah Mahrez Son Ki
                    Kaku Vardy Murray.

Gives me 11 strong DGWers 34 with TC Kaku & 13 DGWers in 37.

                    Free hit 35.

3 transfers to bring in some strong DGWers for 37 and then BB with hopefully 14 (Salah being only one without DGW).

          On WC.

Is it now better to have Vardy instead of Auba? Brighton and Newcastle are good fixtures

Barnes was my other choice but want to have as many DGW37 players in my team from my WC!

                G'luck.

I think Lukaku Vardy Barnes will be template unless you want to do Auba to Lukaku in 34

3 Bournemouth players and don't look bad in the same sentence. Sounds like grasping for straws.

I'm on WC and don't have the FH, those fixtures are a nightmare for managers like me.. We are gonna load up with DGW34 players but then we're gonna have a decimated team for 35

Then don't load up too heavily on 34ers. Liverpool and Arsenal could easily outscore players from SOT, LEI, BHA and even TOT that GW.

          DDG Ryan

Will have 14DGW’rs and Salah by making 1 free transfer that week of Mhkitaryan > Gross....
