Wildcards are very much active among the ScoutCast crew, and while only three of us make this latest episode, all five are in play ahead of the Double Gameweeks.

Not surprisingly, our rebuilding programme dominates the discussion as Jonty and Andy join me to reveal our current squads and our chosen strategy leading into the remaining seven Gameweeks.

In an exhaustive and in-depth episode, the three of us also look back on the success of the Free Hit in Gameweek 31. Then we attempt to offer a balanced view on the variety of chip tactics from this point on, with a team-by-team analysis of the player targets to consider.

We fail miserably of course, with our own bias no doubt shining through, though the conclusion is an uplifting one: whatever your chosen route with the chips to Gameweek 38, we will all win out in the end.

Unless you don’t have your Wildcard and Free Hit, in which case you’re now consigned to spending the next two months behind the sofa and hate us all anyway.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    WC team
    FH34 and BB37

    Ederson (Fabianski)
    VVD Smalling Monreal (Fernandez Dummett)
    Mahrez Salah Willian Mkhi (Kenedy)
    Auba Vardy Firmino

Few left field picks as I'm down 70 pts in ML.

Gives me 11 in 35 too and 29 DGW for BB37 after dropping Firmino and VVD. Thoughts?

I'm keeping Salah for 34 but looking like:

        De Gea
        Davies Azpi Smalling
        Haz Willian Gross Salah Mahrez
        Kaku + Vardy

Trying to squeeze Alli or Eriksen in as a differential but struggling for $$$

Will have 10 DGW + Salah.

Son, Lamela, Dier, Dembele, Sisoko, Wanyama, Moura etc all fit and fighting for 3 places in the team .... something has to give 🙂

Because everyone on here it seems has adopted the template there has been very little challenge to it ... I think there are issues with the mixture of trying to squeeze all these mid priced double game week players in to the team (just because they have 2 doubles) and as a result a few of the premium and more nailed mids are being completely overlooked

Which of these would you rather have?

    1) Smalling + Son + Vardy
    2) Valencia + Gundmonsson + Auba

2 will give easy Auba-->Kane if needed by downgrading Valencia to Dunk or some 5mn DGW defender or Auba-->VArdy if Kane still poor. Problem is no spurs cover

1 will get me Kane by doing son to Ibe :/

I used my FH and got 116 as well:) I have other chips left as well, my plan is to triple either Hazard or Kane on gw34, WC on gw 36 and BB on gw 37. I have currently 8 players who will have double games on gw34, so I am investing on gw 35. This week I got Barnes, next week I ll get Lowton and than I ll get Hennessey so will have at least 9 players on blank gw 35. This is my strategy

Nice, the only worry is there's bound to be a lot more rotation in 37 compared to 34. But could still be hge for you with a bit of luck, GL!
Thinking Hazard(C) in 34 myself, hopefully he'll get the minutes to score big!

Bailly + Courtois instead of DDG can yield some differential results but naildness is an issue for Bailly.

    Still DDG or some other??

    B) Alonso now for me is looking very expensive ,but can be managed with enablers like Kennedy ...so question is

    Willian or Alonso ???

he is but many dead teams so not sure how those numbers are within the live teams, but certainly going to be popular so may way of dealing with it as many others is to have a double united defense. if Willian or Alonso means Gross instead of Willian, Alonso it is for me, but you could do one of the United cbs instead of Alonso as well. Hard choice. I think i would have preferred Alonso and Gross if thats possible

have a feeling this could be very tight and still undecided what to do myself. i have no believe in those rotation fears people worrying about but there are so many other factors that could be much as important, Liverpool still plays for CHL spot and scores heavily but that doesn not always translate into Firmino hauls and Vardy plays for a team that could put on the break as they´ve got little to play for, but Mahrez and to a certain extent Vardy as well plays for more than just honour, Mahrez obviously wants a move and Vardy fights for a place in the England team (of course behind Kane in the peck order but still, ensuring that he is second choice should be motivation as that will mean he gets playing time). And we know that often Leicesters goals are shared between those two, which means if one are lucky one gets both the assist and the goal atst. Saving a couple of 0.1-0.5 also handy.

Opinions please on wildcard. Done plenty of drafts but kinda prefer this top heavy one

    De Gea, Joel periera
Maguire, Ward, Dunk, Kiko Femenia, Dummett
    Salah, Mahrez, Stanislas, Gross, Kenedy
    Aubameyang, Lukaku, Jesus

3.1 in bank for flexibility (Jesus to kane)

    1. bench boost for every gamew…

Thirty million on three strikers have not until now been much value but could turn out great. if bb is left i prob would want a goalie that plays and maybe some other defenders, but you don´t have it still? Stanislas was joyful to own past 6 games, but also given me lots of sleepless nights as he is a walking minefield of an injury risk. But if he stays fit he would be a crafty diff and probably going to score in the double he has. When i see him play i can´t say that there is much difference in quality compared to those playing for England atm

Anybody want to help me with this plan? Still requires some fine tuning.

    Where i'm at right now.

    Ederson*^ Fabianski*
    Mustafi*^ Alonso* Dummett*^ Mawson* Robbo^
    Mahrez* Mkhi*^ Sterling*^ Salah^ Kenedy*^
    Auba*^ Bobby^ Austin*

    0M itb

    33: Mahrez -> Son
    34: FH
35: Save (11 playing including Mawson)
    36: Firmino + (Salah/Alonso) -> Kane + DGWer
    37: Robbo -> DGW defender

Makes 37 look like this without hits.

    Ederson Fabianski
    Mustafi Alonso Dummett Mawson DGWer
    Son Mkhi Sterling Salah Kenedy
    Auba Kane Austin

Either Alonso or Salah will be out for a cheaper DGWer.

The fine tuning will be forced by injuries, alert in form by other players. I'd stick with what you have now and look forward to the plan evolving. You know the risk with Austin. I'd downgrade Masson > Fernandez, you never know when 0.5m will come in handy.

      As FH34 BB37, I originally had the Ederson/Fabianski rotation.

On paper, it looks fantastic - but worth noting that Bravo needs 4 appearances to get a winner's medal. Can see potential problems ahead....

Are you using any other chips? The core of our sides are very similar:

      DDG, Dubravka
      Alonso, Mustafi, Dummett, Lowton, Fernandez
      Salah, Mahrez, Sterling, Mhiki, Kenedy
      Aubameyang, Firmino, Deeney

Can bring Kane in for FH34 and have 2FT for him in 36.

Ederson is competing for the Golden glove.

Also bravo gets a medal anyway.

That's a fair point regarding the Golden Glove.

But I thought players need 5 appearances to warrant a winner's medal?

I'm not sure about pairing Firm and Austin. One I can see getting rotated the other is very injury prone. Together there is no resilience in your frontline.

-Willian has only started about 50% of Chelsea’s games
    - with Kane back Son is fighting for 3 places with Lamela, Dier, Dembele, Sisoko, Wanyama, Moura - Mahrez is already winding down with nothing to play for but pride (oh dear)
    - no knows who will start at CB for Utd
.... and with just a dodgy bench of Brighton/Burnley to cover them, is the WC template already broken and a bust flush ? 🙂

Willian has started 7 in a row for Chelsea including FA Cup and CL, but I do agree.. I can definitely see some rotation, especially in the DGW.

He started all the FA Cup games, 4 out of 8 CL games and 3 of the last 9 PL games ... everyone is fit now except Barkley, Morata and Giroud will fight it out to play down the middle ... Conte likes his team structure and Willian’s minutes will be seriously challenged from now own with a fully fit squad 🙁

Sorry mate but this is all just a kid of waffle.

Willian - Chelsea’s best player at the moment. If they want to finish top 4, Conte will need him in every game. No champions league, easier to play him every game.

Son - He is not competing with Dembele and Dier for a place, do you know what position Son plays ? Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill 😉 .

Don’t see you coming up with any suggestions of this ‘broken’ wildcard?

G’day all, just finalising my WC. Unfortunately, I burned my FH chip earlier in the season, so I’ve had to set the team up (0.2 itb) with this in mind.

    DDG | Dubravka
    Alonso | Mustafi | Lowton | Morgan | Dummett
    Salah | Mahrez | Son | Willian | Kennedy
    Auba | Lukaku | Barnes

    GW34: 9DGWers + Auba + Salah

GW35: 8 without transfers (so could potentially get to 11 with 1 hit if necessary, though will likely stick to 9ish as I wouldn’t want to be removing too many GW37 DGWers).

GW37: BB, currently with 12 DGWers (but will probably remove Barnes + Lowton for Swansea players to make 14, and if i removed Salah for 1 week to help fund Kane it would make 15).

Not having the FH makes it all substantially tougher, but does this team/vague plan seem reasonable in the circumstances?

kolasinac injured so maybe forcing Wenger to play Monreal, Maitland Niles also just come back from injury, unless i think Monreal is one of the players that could be rested in some league games. To me it´s down to wether i thrust arsenal defense, and that´s a categorically no. Arsenal will most probaby win the next two but they will also concede.
