Dugout Discussion – Everton vs Newcastle

The curtailed Gameweek 35 concludes at Goodison Park tonight as Everton host Newcastle United in a fixture that has all the makings of a dead rubber.

The two teams are now surely safe from the threat of relegation and appear to be playing for Premier League prize money only over the remaining matches.

But from a Fantasy perspective, there is still interest in the Merseyside clash, with Free Hit managers investing in the likes of Jordan Pickford, Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman in their one-week refresh.

All start for the home side tonight.

Meanwhile, those without the chip at their disposal, likely take Magpies assets into this match, with Ayoze Perez, Kenedy and budget defender Paul Dummett among the most likely to feature in squads.

Indeed, Perez is the most signed player on show tonight, having commanded over 133,000+ transfers in ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

That follows a rich vein of form from the Spaniard which has produced three goals and three two assists from his last three Gameweek starts.

Perez sits behind Islam Slimani in the attack tonight, with the Algerian starting a Premier League match for Newcastle for the first time since his loan move from Leicester City.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I went in to GW32 with an OR of 102K...

From 9.5k to 1603. For someone who's never been in the top 10k it's just as big of a jump for me. But that is hugely impressive. Any chips left?

Can't bring in Kane with 1 move. It requires two transfers
I have already done Alonso to verto, so lukaku to Kane and Bailly to say Swansea defender for -8 is what I am thinking of

Hm maybe made a mistake selling Alonso. He may play both games in DGW. Hmm maybe Newcastle defender is a better shout than Swansea:) Not sure about that -8 hit but if u're gonna do it next week, why wait?

I haven’t seen any evidence since he is back from injury. When he shows a bit of form then you know he could just score hatty at any given game. At the moment he is off the pace

This isn’t about blanking and then grabbing back to back Hattie’s. I’m talking about how he plays at the moment. When he had blanks at that time, he could’ve easily scored couple of goals hence we all captained him after his blanks and jackpot!

I nailed it when he got Hattie’s. He had couple of blanks but was playing so good, was rather unlucky. Right now, he has barely shot on target

I'm keeping. Captaining in GW38 and don't want to spend two transfers to get him out and back in again. Can easily score against Chelsea in 37.

For me it's the replacement and the cost. If it looks like he will be rotated this weekend against Stoke, it means he is AT Chelsea (still going for Top 4) in GW37 whereas Sterling (his replacement for me) would have 3 matches instead of Salah + a bench player for me in 36 (Dunk at Burnley).

More confident than not. He is Pep's teacher's pet. 18 goals. 2 away from 20 in the league. Pep wants to show everyone how he turned the diamond in the rough with average positioning sense and shaky first touch at Liverpool to a true diamond. I think he's featured in almost every game when fit, and no need to rest since no CL or FA Cup.

It looks like even after quite a surprise lineup yet again this week after everyone confidently predicted a full strength team, people haven't learned not to second-guess Pep 🙂

                  6 years, 2 days ago

It's not second guessing Pep. It's just looking at the data, Sterling has started 21of the past 22 games he has been fit for. I think that's a risk worth taking.

                  1. Cok3y5murf

Yeah but they hadn't won the league then.

Now all he has to play for are either A) experiment with his team by rotating or trying different systems or formations or B) maybe go for breaking that 100 points record with a strong team. A certainly looks the more sensible beneficial option.

The reason you mentioned - "Pep wants to show everyone how he turned the diamond in the rough with average positioning sense and shaky first touch at Liverpool to a true diamond". I have no idea where you got this from but this is completely pure speculation. Unless Pep personally told you this. It seems a petty reason. He has nothing to prove. Everyone already knows what he's turned Sterling into.

I already have Sterling and Jesus but City assets are rotation risks too. No guarantee any of them start both games in GW37.

Only if he's not in the leaked lineup this week. Waste of 2 transfers to sell him in 37 and then bring him back in 38. He'll probably score against Chelsea too

With most the people here right now in 4 digit rank ,( some with 3 too) , I gotta ask how are you planning to end the game with? Are you gonna push yourself by playing aggressively or will play it defensively?

Personally , I am gonna take hits and remove those players with only 3 games left with players who have 4 games left . Stuck between 2-4k forever

I do and I own Lingard, but he is most likely to get hooked at 60mins or make way for Mata, Martial, etc. even from the start while the other two are starters who have more goal threat IMO in real life.

How many (and which) spurs players do you expect to have for the dgw37?

Currently on Lloris, Kane (already have em) and thinking of bringing in Eriksen. Son could be good value, but with both Moura and Lamela looming around, both him and Alli look like risky picks
