FFS Cup

Fantasy Football Scout Cup – Quarter Final Draw

After six closely fought rounds, just eight managers remain in our Fantasy Premier League Cup competition.

The most eye-catching battle in the last 16 round saw the top placed manager Always Captain Kun, who is currently 18th in the overall rankings, defeated 67-64 by 59,811 ranked BroTown_Tindersticks.

Both played the Free Hit chip in Gameweek 35’s reduced set of matches with their Manchester City selection proving pivotal to the final outcome.

While BroTown_Tindersticks’s acquisition of David Silva netted him 10 points, Always Captain Kun’s opted for the non-playing Leroy Sane and had to settle for a solitary point from his replacement off the bench, Watford defender Kiko Femenia.

Next up for this giant-killer is another tough encounter, against 1,113 ranked Batmaniac, who emphatically saw off 310,615 placed minnow Meribenige in the sixth round.

Both have the Triple Captain chip to play but it would seem likely that they will be saving this for Gameweek 37’s Double Gameweek.

In 764 spot sits UTK, who is now the highest ranked manager left in the competition.

His last 16 score of 81 points, thanks to the deployment of his Free Hit chip, was the highest of the round and sets him up with a quarter-final tie against 35,991 placed 2EyedTurk.

UTK will be hoping for a strong showing for his Spurs assets, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dele Alli against Watford on Monday night. They will also be hoping that Manchester City inflict modest damage to the West Ham defence, as they are currently without any of Pep Guardiola’s title-winning attack.

In contrast, 2 Eyed Turk is without any Spurs attackers but has three Manchester City assets, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane, already in place for Gameweek 36.

Dmcqt defeated N@th by a single point in their last 16 clash. Next up for this 1,420 placed manager is a quarter-final encounter with Boxing Can Girouds, who is ranked 13,546 places behind him.

Both used their Free Hit chip in Gameweek 35 and currently go into the next set of matches without any Manchester City options. But while Dmcqt has now used up all his chips, Boxing Can Girouds has his Triple Captain chip to call on, though again, this looks likely to be saved for a potential semi-final tie should they progress.

Mr Cookie (rank 3,264) saw off Lamela and Consuela in the last 16 by 65 – 41 to book a place in the quarter finals against PetesBlair (rank 7,564).

They are another pair that used their Free Hit chip in Gameweek 35 and are also both without Manchester City cover.

Investment in Guardiola’s attack looks likely, but it could be that Spurs assets decide their tie. While Mr Cookie has Alli and Son, PetesBlair will be hoping for a strong showing from Kane and Christian Eriksen.

The full last 16 results can be found here, while the quarter final draw can be found here.

Does anyone have any superstitions or traditions before their teams play an important match?

Myself, for instance, if I watch at home, there are always at least 6 kits (shirts) below and around the TV. If I go on the match, I need to have a pin with crest in my shirt. One hour before the game its the team songs playlist on a repeat.

        Thinking maybe Harry over salah.

If salah starts but firmino doesn't, I think that impacts salah

Plus I like the idea of Kane playing Monday night as opposed to salah in the early say game...

Salah will eventually blank - he has to surely

Ahh, I see. C if you definitely want Jesus (and Sterling but he's probably a must), I think more information could be vital at this stage.

                  Haha, nice!

Subject to Salah news, Mahrez to Sterling is likely the only transfer I'm considering for this week (may save the FT though).

It becomes more difficult for next week, too many variables. Ayew, a cheap defender, David Silva, Jesus and even Arnautovic are all options to come in. It depends largely on how this week goes.

I wish I could have made that same move Mahrez to Sterling but 0.1m off it now.

Agreed with next week so many options but can’t go hit crazy.

Maybe I’m getting to knee jerky with Mahrez but he’s just been shite and Silva has done pretty well lately.

                      Yeah, that's unlucky.

True, we can't! Likely 1 hit max. Leaning with just Sterling and Ayew in if everything goes to plan but it never does. 🙂

Yeah, I'm considering giving Mahrez one last chance (purely because he is nailed). Might end up getting Sterling this week though, probably the wise move.

Bayern with the most offensive lineup Ive ever seen, playing James, Muller, Lewa and the Robbery duo together. Think Jupps` thinking behind that is to make Madrids fullbacks - which are arguably the best in the world offensive wise - stay behind to cover the offensive prowess in Bayerns team. By doing that he will give up the midfield (the other option was to fight it straight on with Thiago) and have a strong core of 4 defenders and one half CB/half DM in Javi Martinez which he thinks can take care of the triple up front.

Key here will be Isco. Might play a wing role or a False 9, but reckon Zizou has given him the free role, Ozil-esque if you want.

Needless to say, we are in for a treat.

    DDG / Ryan
    Alonso / Bailly / Morgan / Lowton / Long
    Mahrez / Son / Willian / Gross / L Cook
    Kane / Jesus / Vardy

    GW36: (-8) Bailly+Gross > Davies+Silva
    GW37: (FT) Mahrez > Sterling
    GW38: (- 4) Willian/Son + Vardy > Salah+[5.4]

Sound like a decent plan? Could also split out the -8 to a -4 for GW37 instead?

Also half tempted with another hit for Morgan > [Swans DEF] but it may be one too many.

    DDG (Ryan)
    Lowton Morgan Dunk (Smalling Alonso)
    Sanchez Willian Mahrez Gross (Lennon)
    Kane Aub Barnes

What's the priority here? Getting City players in? Salah?

    A) Aub -> Jesus
    B) Sanchez -> Sterling
    C) Both (-4)
    D) Sanchez -> Salah
    E) Other

C for me. Yeah Sanchez looks like he is playing better in JM's system but still seems to have a low ceiling for the money he costs.

Genuinely gutted for The Ox. He was beginning to deliver after being given a chance to flourish.

As much as I usually don't have much sympathy for these millionaires, in this case the World Cup is a dream for these lads and money doesn't come in to it. He must be distraught.

Dreadful really. Same thing happened before the last World Cup too.

Totally agree that I feel really sad for him personally, but as an eng fan, coldly, it’s not a massive blow.

Agree. He's improved a lot as the season has gone on.

Either are good IMO but if I had to choose I'd go A.

    Foster - Elliot
TAA - Kompany- Alonso - Baines - Lowton
    Eriksen - Sterling - Lingard - Walcott - Shaqiri
    Kane - Jesus - Barnes

    Which option is better?
    A Baines > Vertonghen/Bavies (-4)
    B TAA > Naughton/Cedric (-4)
C Do neither and go with above team

Look for differential with haul potential. Of those, that's davies, but not sure there aren't better picks

True but not in the league for a long time that I can remember.

Chelsea are too close for novelty full backs unless they slip up.
