Brazil assets pass Fantasy auditions with flying colours

Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Philippe Coutinho all made compelling cases for inclusion in World Cup Fantasy squads on Sunday.

They grabbed the goals in the Selecao’s final warm-up game ahead of this summer’s finals.

We’ve got everything you need to know about the match.

AUSTRIA 0-3 BRAZIL

Brazil rounded off their World Cup warm-up campaign in some style as they waltzed to a 3-0 victory in Austria.

In the 38th minute Gabriel Jesus scored the opening goal, pouncing on the rebound from Marcelo’s blocked shot from range.

Neymar, making his first start since February, doubled the Selecao’s lead in the second-half after some typically impressive skilful play.

The Paris Saint Germain forward has now scored in his last two Brazil matches following his return from injury.

Philippe Coutinho added the third and final goal of the meeting, assisted by substitute Roberto Firmino.

The only personnel change to Brazil’s starting XI from the side that beat Croatia earlier this month was Neymar’s return in the left-forward position of a 4-3-3.

He replaced Fernandinho, who is not expected to be starting player in Brazil. Paulinho dropped deeper than the right-forward role he has fulfilled of late to sit in the midfield three, as did Coutinho.

That allowed Willian to play in a more advanced role, resulting in his assist for Neymar’s goal.

The defence of Marcelo, Joao Miranda, Thiago Silva and relatively budget-option Danilo remained unchanged.

Brazil XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Marcelo (Filipe Luis 67’), Joao Miranda, Thiago Silva (Marquinhos 60’), Danilo; Coutinho (Taison 76’), Casemiro (Fernandinho 61’), Paulinho; Neymar (Douglas Costa 84’), Gabriel Jesus (Roberto Firmino 67’), Willian.

No. Al-Dawsari is overrated here based on looking decent against Germany. Saudi are underdogs in all their games.

Egypt and Russia are rubbish, and he's not overrated at all. He's their star player along with Fahad Al Muwallad.

Could do well to look at these again. People getting lost when selecting their mids/forwards. There's a pretty good way to check to see who's good...

Notable FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifying Top Scorers:

    16 - Lewandowski, Al-Sahlawi
    15 - Ronaldo
    11 - Lukaku, Eriksen
10 - Cavani, Jedinak (pen taker for Australia)
    8 - Berg
    7 - Messi, Jesus
6 - Hazard, Mitrovic, Neymar, JRod, Paulinho
    5 - Suarez
    4 - Coutinho, Willian, Cueva

Obviously SA play fewer games so their goals should be weighted higher.

Hmm right you are. But I guess the relative quality of all the SA teams makes goals there more valuable overall. Nothing like Lewandowski scoring a hat-trick against Armenia (although he also hit 3 past Denmark and Romania!)

Can't believe I haven't looked more into this!

Thing is, e.g. Werner has only become a recent starter for Germany and his record is sublime for the time he has played.

My other two strikers, Cavani and Lukaku score very well on this list and have a very pleasant first couple of fixtures.

Still, food for thought - will be looking a bit more at Lewandowski now

Think my team is sorted apart from my 3 'weak' midfield spots. I have 17m to spend on them, and ideally they would not be playing on the last match day. I'll be WCing for GW3, so only need to take first two weeks into consideration. At the moment I have

Belhanda, Cueva and Meza (is he nailed?).

    Could I do better?

Other candidates are Nandez (any threat?), Schone (good fixtures but no threat?) Al-Dawsari but open to other suggestions.

    Cheers in advance!

It’s so difficult to leave Eriksen behind, but the potential of Neymar is immense

Consider writing only the differing players from the options, makes it hard to read when set out like this

Pls RMT - not a fan of investing too much in defence

    Akinfeev/Uzoho
    Medy/Meunier/Varela/granqvis/Sabaly
    Jrod/Coutinho/Cueva/Carrasco/Sanchez
    Griez/Jesus/Messi

    Thanks!

V nice. I'd avoid Sanchez and go for a 4.5 playing earlier in GW personally. Keepers looks week. Love the Granqvist pick, I can imagine him being a hero with a CS and goal.

    Any help, please?

    A) El Kajoui, Gallese + Carrasco

    B) Muslera, Uzoho + Cueva

Uzoho is great. You could even do El Kajoui - Uzoho and then use the money elsewhere.

I have El Kajoui, Gallese, Cueva.

Of those, I think B just about edges it, though it's a tough choice!

I opened the game yesterday and hit BB not realising that it can't be reversed so I'm going for it first round! Good chance of WC being used in round 2 and save MC for later. It's a bit crappy with these daily changes though so I might just give up on it after the first week haha!

      for me :
      WC = before QF
      BB = Round 2
      MC = no idea

I think BB / MC in 1 / 2 - not sure which way round yet. WC prob for Semis / final / 3rd 4th

All the teams, planning and tactics would be so different had the attacking midfielders not been classified as strikers but as midfielders only.

We would have lots of different teams

    This is my current midfield:

    Eriksen - JRod - Isco - Kvist - Hamed

Is it really worth downgrading one of the premiums to spread the money to upgrade the other cheap options? (Seems to be the popular opinion right now)

I know this allows more bites of the cherry, but are they significant enough to offset the impact of having the premium midfielder instead?

Hi, cant decide between Werner or Muller.
    Who is on your team?

decided for Muller (fans of Werner)
Could find a lot of options at attacking position, but not to much in midfield was the reason for me

I went Muller. But I'm caught between Muller + Jesus or Werner + Coutinho

Senior people at West Ham have said Manuel Lanzini's injury is one of the worst injuries that they have had since working in football. He is expected to be out for the whole of next season.

    That's sad

    I'm back.
    My current squad:

    Caballero, Uzoho
    Marcelo, Danilo, Kimmich, Meunier, Tagliafico
    Kvist, Isco, Muller, Nandez, Miranchuk
    Mbappe, Jesus, Cavani

    How does it look?
    Options:
    Carrasco to Miranchuk
    Caballero to Szczesny
Marcelo to Mojica and upgrade the midfield massively

The idea is to exploit the clean sheets of big teams in the first rounds, then switch to 3-4-3 later on. Early WC and BB right after. BC at the later stages.
