The Community Round-up

In a busy week that focused largely on the World Cup Fantasy games, the Premier League fixture release also caught our attention on Thursday.

Hot Topics were in abundance as we fine-tuned our squads for Russia 2018, though some also took time to assess the domestic schedules for next season.

Meanwhile, as one Community Tournament ended another one began as we indulge in a packed month of international action.

The Community Articles

Rather than pen a new Community Article, Stoichkov#8 posted the results of his recent Community Tournament in the original piece, where all team selections and discussions were made.

Results can be found below in the Community Tournaments section.

Don’t forget: if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports, or features brewing, visit our community section to submit your article and let Geoff know – geoff@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

New articles are always welcome.

The Hottest Topics

With the announcement of the World Cup Fantasy game, Kuntheman(c) began the process of building a Fantasy team by looking at cut-price players, while Hodor wondered how budget our bargains should be, and whether our bench options should matter.

FFFrøg helped develop our squads with a World Cup player guide for defenders and midfielders.

There was also talk on whether a template team for Russia 2018 was beginning to take shape.

NorthernBoysLoveGravs warned us of an increased number of players who are rotation risks, particularly in Group H.

Pirlø’s Pen took a look at the high-end buys, and considered if Neymar is worth having in our side.

FFFrøg makes a case to have an active bench, instead of the high-priced assets like Neymar and Lionel Messi.

The use of the chips in the FIFA Fantasy game was a major talking point this week. Jurgen Flopp warned us that it isn’t possible to deactivate chips, a potentially painful change from the FPL game for some.

While AA33 considered early chip strategy, Prøfeßor Bear asked when we should use our Bench Boost, suggesting either Round 1 or the Round of 16.

Andy85wsm looked at captaincy strategy, pondering whether it is best to have an armband option from every matchday.

To round off this portion of World Cup Hot Topics, André94PT showed us an early list of set-piece takers for the 32 teams.

Elsewhere, Niemi looked at Eliteserien GW13 captaincy and transfers, after Eliteserien took a two-week break. The game now breaks again until June 23rd.

There was discussion on the implications of the Premier League Winter Break, which comes into effect in 2019/20.

We also asked for your World Cup predictions.

Moving towards the release of the Premier League fixtures, there was also chat on the Premier League players that you think can step up in World Cup Fantasy.

This led nicely to a busy Thursday, when the Premier League fixtures were announced, reminding us that the start of the domestic season is less than two months away.

Gregor had an early look at the teams that have perfect home/away rotation to get us started.

J0E’s contribution this week came via a World Cup Scoutcast and a Premier League Fixtures Scoutcast.

Also, just a reminder to all to try to keep RMTs in RMT Hot Topics, when they’re available. Mods will be made aware when these Hot Topics are made and will try to be active to respond to RMT queries in the RMT-specific Hot Topics.

To view all our discussions please visit our Hot Topics page.

Members Tables

J0E also gave us a couple of Members’ Tables to consider, with the first looking at the World Cup whipping boys.

The second he calls World Cup goalalicious teams and attempts to predict which sides we could expect significant returns from.

Community member ambergambler created a Forwards on Fire table assesses the most important attacking statistics from forwards.

Our Members Tables can be found in the Members Only area in the Stats Tables section.

The Community Tournaments

Stoichkov#8’s World Cup Friendlies tournament came to an end with Fantasy Football Scout moderator Niemi taking the title – he finished six points ahead of André94PT. Rony1993 was one point ahead of Stoichkov#8, who just missed out on third place.

Stoichkov#8 finished his tournament by posting the tournament’s Dream Team and giving a Best of the Best, awards for things other than simply finishing first. Unsurprisingly, Niemi won many of these awards.

Huge thanks to Stoichkov#8 for his hard work organizing and running this tournament.

Jarvish started a simple Yes/No Community competition, where those who join make specific predictions, which Jarvish will tally at the end.

Those who didn’t sign up at the beginning will be at a disadvantage, but the competition can be seen here.

If you are running a community tournament or are thinking about starting one, and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups, please email us summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet, or head to head competition at geoff@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Any ideas where it would show if a mini rival had played one of the chips (McDonalds game)? I can see their team bu wondering if it would say if any chip is in play.

The France lineup is total fire... insane amount of talent all around.

Lloris is the only weak player in the team, and that could really cost them.

Lloris is a fine keeper mate. Not his best season the last one but he's up there with the best

Don't agree myself, sir. That's where my issue is - him being placed in the top bracket of keepers on name alone is my issue.

If you look at his stats over the last two to three years, he's been extremely mistake prone. He has neither got the freakish ability of de Gea, nor the insane consistency of Oblak.

Have a feeling a mistake or two is about to happen, hope I'm wrong - because I'd really like this France team to succeed.

Almost, but not quite. I've always felt he was suspect. Great, but not same class with with De Gea, Neuer, Allison etc.

Agreed. Oblak in the same bracket too.

I wouldn't even put him in the second tier - where I would keep ter-Stegen, Ederson, Courtois, and arguably, Areola.

I think it will be high scoring. I've only seen 1 warm-up game from each but neither looked like they were keen to do much defending

      1. CRO KLOPP
        • 6 Years

You could be right, with Lovren and Nigeria defenders

    3. diesel001

Depends on whether Nigeria can stay disciplined. Croatia will turn it into a tactical game IMO. Wait for Nigeria to lose their discipline defensively and then pounce. You would expect better from players like Moses, Mikel, Iwobi, Iheanacho etc, but time and time again they show the haven't learned and act like schoolboys.

I'm doing a competition with friends where you have to pick a goal scorer for each of the matches as well as who you think will win the match.

    Eriksen for Denmark.

Pavard more chances of doing something Red Card worthy than Cueva?
TBH I have no inkling of how the either player plays, its just that defenders I feel are more prone to Cards than especially attacking mideos....
