Fantasy hopes pinned on Brazil against the Swiss

Brazil and Switzerland bring the curtain down on day four of the 2018 World Cup as they meet in Rostov in the evening kick-off.

The Selecao boast the three most-owned players in McDonald’s FIFA: Marcelo (£6.5m), Neymar (£12.0m) and Philippe Coutinho (£9.0m).

A whopping 44% of Fantasy managers have bought Marcelo – no player is more widely owned – who scored a goal and recorded two assists in qualification and was on target in the November friendly win over Japan.

Neymar, selected by 33% of those playing McDonald’s FIFA,  was directly involved in 15 of Brazil’s goals during World Cup qualification and has scored on a further three occasions in subsequent friendlies.

Only Paolo Guerrero (19) of Peru had more attempts from set-play situations than Neymar (16) in CONMEBOL qualifying.

The 29% of Fantasy managers who own Coutinho will be heartened by his goal in the 10 June friendly win over Austria. The Barcelona playmaker scored on four occasions and set up two goals in qualification, despite only starting eight of Brazil’s matches.

Gabriel Jesus (£9.0m), Brazil’s top goalscorer during qualification, carries the hopes of just 12% of Fantasy bosses, despite being some £3.0m cheaper than Neymar.

Switzerland’s attack-minded full-back pairing of Ricardo Rodriguez and Stephan Lichtsteiner (both £5.5m), who scored six goals between them during qualification, are owned by 2% and 1% of managers respectively.

Hopes will be high for plenty of goals in this Group E encounter: Brazil scored at a rate of 2.3 goals per match during qualification, while Switzerland scored 24 goals in 12 qualifying fixtures – an average of exactly two goals per match.

Brazil’s backline, however, is uncharacteristically mean: the Selecao have not conceded a single goal in their last five friendly internationals (despite facing the likes of Germany, Croatia and England) and their defence was the best in South American qualification (11 goals conceded in 18 fixtures).

The Selecao have a new-found strength in set-play situations, too: four of Brazil’s goals in their six most-recent friendlies were scored directly from corners.

More so for a private comp in in 13 behind the leader but he only has Hazard and Honda left for potential points and staying on Greizmann Captain

Why does every single player on the team in first place in the FFS league for McDonald's have a red, white, or mix of both jersey color?

The nice thing about being in America so long is that I can go watch games with friends that support United, Spurs, Everton, City, Barca etc, etc and we all can enjoy the game and appreciate the players without having a fight. There really is no tribalism here. It's certainly taught me to love watching the game itself more not just my own team with blinkers on.

there are some right bitter fans around i have seen it all city united liverpool everton where passion goes way beyond what is acceptable quite sad really. my nan was born in moss side she used to watch both united and city when they played at home as did many manchester people back in the day. the only time they have all been together is in such disasters as the manchester arena bombing when the whole city unites as one

Yeah my Mum is a die hard United fan and so are other members of my family. Some are City. My Dad is a Chelsea fan and as I was born in Liverpool (and admittedly because we won everything when I was a kid) I became a Liverpool fan. My parents still live back home in Cambridge. But over here I can go to a bar with loads of fans of all kinds of teams and we have a laugh no matter the score. We can talk about great teams and great players no matter who they played for and we all get along. I mean two of my favorite ever players are Scholes and Giggs. what Liverpool fan back home can say that?

Got this from a reporter's tweet.

Hummels pin-points why Germany lost: "If 7 or 8 players attack, then it's clear the offensive force is greater than the defensive stability. That's what I often talk about internally, to no affect. Our cover wasn't good, too often it was just Jerome and I at the back." #MEXGER

That slight not-so-hidden shade on a certain RB xD

Funny how this strategy seemed to work fine in qualifiers but doesn't now all of a sudden. Plus where was the LB? The whole pt of not taking Sane was because they needed someone who could cover at LB so where this Plattenhardt bloke or whatever his name is? Seemed pretty absent all match to me.

Worth subbing in Sabaly for Paravrd who got 2 points?

      I don't think so because,

      1. France's is up next against Peru and seeing the poor quality of Peru's finishing against Denmark, there is a good chance France might get a clean sheet.

While on the other side, Senegal is up against Japan in a game where I think both team will try to win, hence clean sheet looks less likely.

      2. Pavard was consistently participating during attack, so an attacking return from him is also a possibility.

      3. Mostly, better to use a transfer on an attacker rather than a defender, unless absolutely necessary.

He meant subbing him in this round. ^

I have the same question btw

Peru were better than France, wouldn't be surprised to see Peru win that.

Any ideas on when we should play the wildcard ?

For a little backdrop, my team doesn't look that bad but so far only 17 Point with 6 players yet to play. So a bit of frustration starting to set in.

Does it make sense to play the wildcard during the group stages itself or sometime during the knockouts ?

I played mine last night, seen enough now to know which small players impressed and with so many big teams not winning in the first round, rotation fears for that final round is now gone.

It's a short tournament and there's loads of transfers after the R16 WC so it's either this round or next, might aswell try and tap into the momentum.

    Neymar out for CR7?

Already have Cavani (C) vs KSA that day
(URU and POR play in the same day)

Probably not considering Brazil have Costa Rica and will want to win both of their next 2 games.

Portugal and Spain also "have to" win both of their next two

I'd rather have a player playing against Costa Rica than Morocco.

Debatable if they were playing Iran.

Same dilemma although I'm probably keeping. Got Neymar mainly for Costa Rica anyway. And as you've said it gives you one less good captain option.

Captain Meunier or Mertens? Mertens with the higher ceiling, Meunier a bit safer. I still have James tomorrow.

When we think FPL is tough, now we know FPL is the easiest of all 🙂

Maybe we're just pretending to be good at this game lol.

    I) Eriksen - > Isco
    ii) Ljajic - > Golovin
    iii) Jesus - > Costa

Which transfers to make for round 2?

Have Cavani, Kaku, Jesus, Jrod, Belhanda, Ljajic, Eriksen in my team.

    0.5 itb.
