Neymar fit but Fantasy bosses desert Brazil star

Brazil face Costa Rica in the lunchtime kick-off, with the Selecao once again heavily backed by Fantasy managers despite their disappointing opening-match draw with Switzerland.

Philippe Coutinho (£9.0m) was the only Brazil player to deliver more than just appearance points in that match against the Swiss and the former Liverpool midfielder’s ownership has risen to over 33% as a result. No player had more goal attempts (four) than Coutinho in the aforementioned 1-1 draw.

Neymar (£12.0m) blanked in that fixture and his participation in this afternoon’s match looked in some doubt after he limped out of training on Tuesday, though the Paris Saint-Germain forward has now been passed fit to play.

Around a quarter of the Fantasy managers who owned Neymar have ditched him, however, with his ownership now hovering just above the 25% mark.

Marcelo (£6.5m) is still the most-owned player in McDonald’s FIFA, with 42.9% of Fantasy managers selecting the Real Madrid full-back in their squads. Kieran Trippier (six) and Joshua Kimmich (five) were the only defenders to create more chances than Marcelo (three) in the opening round of group matches.

Gabriel Jesus‘ (£9.0m) ownership has dipped below the 10% mark after his blank against the Swiss, while over 8% of managers still own £6.0m-rated goalkeeper Allison.

Keylor Navas (£5.0m) is the only Costa Rican player with any real Fantasy investment: the Real Madrid goalkeeper is owned by 6.8% of Fantasy managers, who will presumably be banking on save points, rather than a clean sheet, from Navas this afternoon.

          That's enough to get Coutinho, then Eriksen, then Coutinho again. You get unlimited transfers after the groups and the 20 don't roll over to the knockout phase.

        If they pulled their heads from there behinds then they could have a good transitional period, bring through youngsters and top players to make a team for going forward. I suspect they will just knee jerk their way through again and end up in the same situation in 24 months time.

        Would be nice to get rid of those whining players too. Chelsea used to be a team that anyone can manage, now they are just a set of whining beehatces who cry if they don't get exactly what they want. Sell them all and get people who will fight.

          I think Antonio Conte is a very good manger I really doubt they’ll be able to replace him with anyone better.

          You’re right these Cheslea cry babies only play well when they want to. But I’d blame the board too. They make stupid decisions like selling Matic and then not replacing with a quality player. I think the club is in a big mess now!

            2 seasons ago under Conte was the best I've ever seen Chelsea as a team and that goes back to early 90's. We're running out of top managers to employ and that's the joke. We just push ourselves into the corner and leave ourselves no option. Conte wants to work hard, the players don't.

            As i say with Lamps, JT, Drogs anyone could manage them and we would always finish top 4, now these wimps can only play one season at a time and the board give managers weak signings. It would be easy to say to any manager, finish top 4 and bring through youth, transition, you don't have to win anything and then we'd be set for years to come.

    Hi all,

    I've stupidly left Eriksen on the bench somehow (thought I'd subbed him in). I've only got Mueller, Kimmich and Meunier to come (my Brazil players are confirmed starters), so my only hope for the Dane's points is that one of those three doesn't play, right?

    Guessing there's no other 'hack' I can do here apart from ensure he's first sub, but please shout me if there's anything I've missed - it really hurts to waste those points, especially in what's been a poor round for me so far!

    One of my worries about not WC'ing in R3 (planning to save for QF) is my GK pair of El Kajoui (Spain) and Uzoho (Arg)...but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that either Morocco or Nigeria keep a cleanie against Spain or Argentina...how are other El-oho owners handling the situation - (1) WC, (2) transfer out or (3) sticking?
