World Cup Fantasy managers turn to Rodriguez and Inui in Group H finale

Japan and Colombia have been backed by Fantasy managers to get positive results from the Group H finale, and progress to the World Cup knockout stages.

James Rodriguez (£9.0m) is the most high-profile asset in action this afternoon with 11.5 percent picking him against Senegal. Despite registering two assists in Colombia’s convincing 3-0 win over Poland, the Real Madrid midfielder has not earned an increase in ownership since Gameround 2.

However, the most popular player in the Group H finale is still Carlos Sanchez (£4.5m), who is expected to return from his one-match suspension earned after being red-carded against Japan.

Colombia’s opponents Senegal are once again not particularly fashionable with Fantasy managers. No player has higher ownership levels than midfielder Salif Sane (£4.5m) who sits in just 5.9 percent of squads. Youssouf Sabaly (£4.0m) remains owned by 4.5 percent of managers.

In the other Group H fixture, Japan’s budget options have proved the most popular, although no player in the match is owned by more than a tenth of McDonald’s FIFA World Cup Fantasy managers.

Takashi Inui (£4.5m) will be the main focus after he scored and assisted in the 2-2 draw with Senegal. His ownership has just about doubled since Gameround 2, rising to 7.1 percent.

In the same number of squads is full-back Hiroki Sakai (£4.0m). A sure starter, he is yet to get a Fantasy return in Russia but registered three assists in qualifying.

Already eliminated Poland have been almost completely deserted by Fantasy managers. Robert Lewandowski (£9.5m) remains their most popular player but has lost three percent ownership since Gameround 2.

Worth risking subbing in Inui for a 1 pointer player? Worst case is I only lose 1 point? Or do we think Inui will not play at all?

He should come on if they need a goal , so prob worth it for a 1pt player.

Id be more annoyed if he comes on and gets something than losing the 1 point on a gamble

    Odds to score:

    Khazri: 1.85 (17/20)
    Ben Youssef: 1.95 (19/20)
    Lewandowski: 1.95 (19/20)
    Falcao: 2.00 (1/1)
    Badri: 2.60 (8/5)
    James: 2.80 (9/5)
    Mane: 3.25 (9/4)
    Quintero: 4.00 (3/1)
    Inui: 4.25 (13/4)

Now with added fractional odds. Based on bwin.

No he is the Tunisian winger but will be listed as back-up goalkeeper today due to them not being allowed to call someone up, so if there is a early GK injury he will take the gloves which should hurt is odds a bit!

Bizarre team selection from Japan. Leave out their 3 most creative players, and their midfield steel. Do they think they are through already? Are they taking Poland for granted?

I guess, seems a risky play though as Japan look most impressive with their attacking combination play, not their defence which has looked pretty creaky all tournament.

    Two quick ones....

1 - Inui in for a 1pt player? (I am thinking NO atm)

    2 - Current Captain is Coutinho (12pts), do I

    A Stick
    B swap to James
    C Swap to Kane

1 - I would because it's just a game and I don't really care, not sure about you.

They should bring Kagawa/Honda/Inui on if they go a goal behind which might not happen but I would take the risk of losing 1pt.

I agree with you. Very risky to rotate when you need a result still. Better philosophy for me would be to start with most of them and then take them off if they tire, not have to throw them on when you're 1-0 down with 20 mins to go desperately needing a goal.
