This season, we are running a Fantasy Football Scout league on Superbru’s Premier League Predictor game.

It’s free and fun to play, there are cash prizes on offer every week – including £50,000 if you can predict all 10 matches in a round – and it will also help to sharpen your Fantasy Football thinking ahead of the weekend.

Many of your Fantasy decisions are based on your predictions about what will happen in each match. For instance, you may end up captaining Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) because you predicted that Liverpool will thrash Cardiff, or you pick a Chelsea defender because you don’t think Huddersfield will score against them.

By going through the process of making predictions and entering them on Superbru, it will help to provide clarity in your team selection for that round.

Furthermore, you’ll also be adding your wisdom to the crowd. Hutch_James wrote a preview for each Gameweek last season, using the aggregated predictions from the Superbru community. Those predictions performed better than 99% of individuals in the game, proving that the collective knowledge of football fans can be greater than one person’s individual knowledge.

Please get involved and lend your own predictions to the community, and Hutch will return with the series again this year.

Scoring system

The scoring system is simple but smart, and designed to reward accuracy.

Prizes

You could win up to £50,000 depending on the number of exact scores you can predict in each round of 10 matches!

– 10 exact scores: £50,000
– 9 exact scores: £10,000
– 8 exact scores: £1,000
– 7 exact scores: £500
– 6 exact scores: Your choice of Premier League jersey
– 5 exact scores: a Superbru Yellow Cap

It’s totally free to play, so you might as well have a go.

Recruitment incentive

Superbru is great fun when you play with your friends or work colleagues. Over 90% of people say they would recommend Superbru to a friend and if you do just that, it will be worth your while.

Set up your own league and invite 10 new UK-based people to Superbru, and you could be eligible for £50 at the end of the tournament. See the T&Cs and how it works

Superbru app

The app is the best way to play the game – it’s quick and simple, with live scoring and lots of other cool features.

Download the free Superbru app from the App Store or Google Play.

Wisdom of the Crowd articles

Look out for the Gameweek 1 preview on Friday, with the aggregated predictions for the first round of matches as we all look to get a fast start in Fantasy Premier League. The more people that join, the better those predictions should be, so please do get involved.

Hughes would be my first choice if I went with a 5.0 mid. Then probably Cairney is the percentage decision, but Costa could be a lot of fun.

A bit of a lengthy question here. I've been planning on rolling with Arnie as one of my forwards (with the others being probably Aguero/Laca or Auba/Firmino), and I'm probably going to run with either a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 most GWs.

My question is this: what is the highest price of a player you are willing to bench (or rotate)? I just find the 7mil price of Arnie a bit problematic, because it seems low enough to facilitate other moves but too high to really consider him for rotation. I mean, if I go with someone like Sorloth at 5mil, it seems like I can stomach rotating him. But Arnie at 7mil? That seems like a lot of cash sitting on my bench.

So, in expanded form, for each of the positions, what is the point where you are like, "Nope. I've spent to much on X to even think about benching him on a semi-regular basis"?

For GKs, is it 5.5? For DEF, is it 6.0? For MID, is it, what? 6? 7? And for FWD?

Anyway, I just thought it would be interesting to get everyone's take on where those break points are for when you consider someone to be essentially unbenchable because of your investment in them.

      Thanks!

I have benched 6 million defenders against City. 6.5 defs should have attacking point potential.

I would never, ever, bench Arnautovic.

I would never bench without injury/suspension:
        5.5+ defender
        5.5+ midfielder
        5.5+ forward
though individual cases must be considered.

If I did I'd just be wasting money on my bench!

Interesting. That's kind of what I'm trying to figure out in all of this, where that breaking point is (or should be).

Not keen to bench a GK over £4.0 🙂

Ha! Part of all of this thinking is also inspired by the sheer number of MIDs this year that could turn out to be great that are priced somewhere between 5.5 and 6.5. I'd really like to have Seri and Maddison, but, if I follow the advice of DANTHEMANINAPAN, neither of those players are benchable. Which also means that the idea of rotation between different formations (or even different mids) kind of goes out the window if you plan on just having bench fodder.

I tend not to rotate attackers, but if my 4th mid has a really poor game I would consider bringing in a def with a good game. Certainly wouldn't bench Arnie.

I agree with defence though, I try and play the fixtures much more and only keep top of the line premiums in each week.

3rd striker and 3rd bench fodder problem, currently with Kamara. I might pay .5 more, but are there Zohore and Bonatini any better options? Or worth the money?

Unless you are going at least 6.5 I'd stick with 4.5

Now Rico is suspended, does that mean Daniels will play the first few games of the season?

Guys is Rui Patricio a set and forget goalkeeper? I mean playing him with a 4.0 keeper.

I'm also considering this, or Lloris (see below)

He is a solid keeper so why not? I could use the extra .5

I might be doing this, yeah. If not, I'll go Ryan/Button for the same price. Budget keepers are simply wonderful value ... if you can find one that's nailed. Patricio sure is. And Wolves are gonna be okay defensively, I promise.

Of the current keepers only Begovic, Ryan, Lössl, Pickford and Fabianski played 3420 minutes last season.

But is Wolves more resilient than Brighton ? Saves won't make up for cs points, I think

I agree but I feel Wolves ball retention can help have a higher chance of clean sheets. Patricio has a good penalty save record as well.

Aside from Ederson & De Gea, are any keepers set and forget?

I want 3 outfield players from City (and Liverpool), or will do at some point, so that rules out their keepers for me. And I'm slightly put off De Gea by the negative atmosphere growing around Old Trafford (feel free to convince me otherwise)

Lloris got 15 clean sheets in the last 2 seasons, just 1 fewer than Ederson, but I don't see him in many RMTs. As did Courtois, who still might stay.

Among the others, the best teams are problematic: Burnley (injuries) & Newcastle (terrible opening fixtures).

Tempted by Lloris, especially after a great WC and with Alderweireld staying.

Nothing wrong with a 4.5 set-and-forget if nailed and decent. If you want reassurance just look at Fab's points last season compared to Ederson's.

the challenge is to pick the right 4.5, whereas you can trust the likes of Lloris and Ederson to get ~140+ points

I agree, with Pulis-ball all but dead it's hard to pick the right 4.5. The days of Foster at WBA or Butland at Stoke are long gone. Even Dubravka is now a 5.0.

As said above I think Patricio is a possibility, but it's a bit of a gamble.

Fabianski is popular but West Ham were shocking, as Mikehw's article showed, the top team for being battered.

I totally agree. I'm unlikely to want 3 Tottenham outfield players but will want 3 Liverpool. I've gone Man City because I fear there will be so much rotation that I won't ever want 3 outfield players.

In your position I'd go with Lloris, although manager has states that he will give WC players a full 20 days off so unlikely he'll start the season aling with most of their defence.

That's a good point. I'm currently on Patricio & Foster, hoping one will turn out to be this year's Fabianski (or Lossl). I went for Begovic & Hart last year because their fixtures rotated well. Never again following that logic.
