Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

Site regular and moderator ZoumasBloomers has here given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team, and please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding, but this will work best if you help out others as well as getting responses.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

ZoumasBloomers’s RMT

Fabianski – Patricio

Mendy – Robertson – Cedric – Wan-Bissaka – Tomkins

Salah – Mahrez – Mane – Richarlison – Cairney

Aubameyang – Arnautovic – Sorloth

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5m, obviously a quality goalkeeper with international pedigree, and Wolves have some tight fixtures. Seems a no brainer for the 4.5 rotations, after Ryan/Fabianski didn’t rotate well. Sounds like Wolves were quite tight last year as well.

Fabianski – 4.5m, still got memories of his seemingly random hauls last year. Guaranteed save points. Hopefully going to West Ham doesn’t diminish his point scoring potential (still haven’t forgiven Ogbonna from last season)

Defenders

Mendy – 6m, a bit of a punt early on as he seems to be made of tissue paper and not played many minutes, but from his brief spell last season it’s very clear that he offers attacking potential on top of a decent defensive record. Delph and Zinchenko don’t seem to be in favour, and there’s every chance of a very tasty return to 5 at the back from Pep at some point. Will monitor Community Shield.

Robertson – 6m, should be nailed early season, and has some pretty tidy fixtures. Will get in a few crosses, and very easy to switch down to free up funds if pressing issues arise. May even do a goal. Chances are high that he will become a Man Utd defender once their settled XI becomes apparent, but for now I am happy to avoid Jose’s grumpy circus.

Cedric – 4.5m, I’m expecting absolutely nothing from this bloke, may not even start after the World Cup, and doesn’t get as many attacking returns as he should. However, he seems cheap and fixtures are reasonable. Easily benched if needed. A rabbit hole I seem to dive down at the beginning of every season, at least he wastes less money than Bertrand did last year.

Tomkins – 4.5m, Seems to keep clean sheets when paired with Sakho, and does pose a threat from set pieces. Some decent early fixtures providing Palace start better than last season. Roy should have them in a reasonable shape.

Wan-Bissaka, 4m – Would prefer for this to be Peltier, but injury has put me off there. Likely to be perma-benched unless I shift Tomkins early doors. Could prove to be nailed, and should at least offer some price rises as people realise this.

Midfielders

Salah – 13m, I’m too scared not to.

Mane – 9.5m, I like the look of Liverpool fixtures, and Mane has certainly had a good pre-season. Could possibly be on penalties, definitely seems fresh, and gives a good coverage of Liverpool’s attacking options so that I can spread my strikers around. Will have to put up with a few 60 minute substitutions though.

Mahrez – 9m, all aboard the Pep Guardiola rotation wagon. If playing, he should be high up the field, and was experimented with as number 10/false 9 in preseason. No WC fatigue, just need to wait on injury news. Can easily become David Silva if signs are that he may not start. Fully expecting disappointment after I WC’ed him in last season and he cost me a top 1k finish. Could have some free kicks off KDB if he is feeling generous.

Richarlison –  6.5m, What on earth am I doing!? The man has a 50p head, and misses 1 on 1s for fun. However, £50m signings should start every game, and Everton have great fixtures. Should have a point to prove under Marco Silva, and a proper summer of rest after playing for nearly 12 months last year. Could well be this year’s bargain if he finds his shooting boots. Worth a punt, and a goal in preseason is a good sign.

Cairney – 5m, I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen him play. Looks the best of the 5m options for me purely because Kenedy has shocking early fixtures and Neves plays deep and loves a card. Fully expect Cairney to shuffle to Kenedy on my first WC. Will rotate with my 4th defender and 3rd striker.

Forwards

Aubameyang – 11m, the man that everyone will want from GW3. I’d love a nailed Aguero but I’m concerned that Jesus will steal some minutes in that GW2 fixture against Huddersfield. Saving myself the hassle of a transfer by starting with the Arsenal man, has every chance of scoring vs a travelled City side in GW1 anyway

Arnautovic – 7m, never a dull moment, equal chances of scoring a brace or elbowing someone in the head. Has been banging them in in pre-season, and West Ham’s fixtures aren’t as bad as made out (and they boast a decent squad this season). Concerned that Zaha may move back into midfield, or that his head will have turned by transfer rumours, so going with the early season form and security here. Only issue is that some re-jigging will be needed to turn him into Firmino if things go south.

Sorloth – 5m, Reasonable start to his Palace career, looks quite sharp for an absolute lump of a man and may well header a few in at some point. Likely to always be on the bench, but offers more potential than the 4.5m strikers. Nicely fills out an all Palace bench for me as well.

CONCLUSION

A lot of very highly owned players being overlooked, but a lot of decent price players that can be easily switched.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change? Feel free to tear into me in the comments!

    Pickford, Stekelenburg
Robertson, Van Dijk, Mendy, Luiz, AWB
    Salah, Eriksen, DSilva, Pogba, Richarlison
    Annie, King, Kamara

Can't see a 4.5m keeper rotation that I prefer to Pickford each week for the early fixtures, still hoping Chelsea end up with a 5m option.

Premium defenders look great value at only 6m and Luiz will be a steal if he is nailed.

Lots of money in midfield with the possibility of doing Eriksen to KDB at some point. I know Pogba is unlikely to play week 1 but I have good cover and don't want to waste a transfer in a couple of weeks.

No premium striker but I like the two options that I do have.

My first sub will always be 5.5m or more but I like having the cover there for when players are rotated. I think this sets me up strongly for the opening fixtures although I am worried about the lack of Aguero.

I could swap Eriksen and King for Aguero and Cairney?

    Any feedback appreciated, thanks

Looks nice but you really only have Salah as a viable captain. I’d try to get at least one more and Kun would be my pick.

If Aguero is at risk of rotation could I ever captain him??
Salah would be my captain most weeks with KDB occasionally and Arnie once or twice over the season

I know he’s “fixture proof “ and all that but I don’t think Pool’s fixtures are that great in the first 10 tbh. KDB is a decent pick at home but not in the away games if I remember correctly. Strong team, though. If Salah delivers you’ll most likely have a good season.

I'm not convinced on tying up a Liverpool spot with their keeper. You could have Lovren and DDG instead of Allisson and Coleman.
I haven't seen your 6.5 mids play but I know people on here rate them.
I assume Sanchez will become KDB at some point?
Overall it looks good but I'd worry about relying on the bench players

Would definitely not go with 2 Liverpool defenders especially given their wealth of options in attack. You might want Mane/Firmino anytime soon.
Given that you've gone with 3 heavy hitting defenders you should save on vestergaard at 5m and downgrade to 4.5m and Tomkinso could become Wan Bissaka
Not keen on Maddison purely due to Leicester and you could upgrade with saving money elsewhere. rest of the core looks good.

Hey guys, just did my team - would appreciate any comments:

Ederson/Alisson (haven't decided) | Fabianski (could go for a 4.0 who never plays but if first choice is injured, Fab is a back up)

Mendy | Van Dijk | Bailly | Cedric | Wan Bissaka

    Salah | Mahrez | Pedro | Mkhitaryan | Hughes

    Aubameyang | Zaha | Sorloth

    Got 0.5 in the bank.

Mendy, Pedro + Mkhi need monitoring before selecting to see if they are nailed.

I like the 5 man midfield, however would want mine to be stronger as it is your main source of points.

Fire and forget your GK to get extra 0.5m so you have 1m to improve.

Very template. Very safe. If going for one of the gks though, you'll never want to rotate them, so another 4.5 keeper is a waste.

Here is my (latest) draft. Any suggestions:
    Ederson - Stekelenburg
    TAA-Lowton-Schlupp-Bissaka-Bednarek
    Salah-Mane-Mahrez-Richarlison-Hudson
    Aguero-Lacazette-Sorloth

Lots of rotation risks the problem. Hudson, TAA, Schlupp, WB, Bednarek, Sørloth. Even Kun and Laca might be benched from time to time.

Very true. Some of them are place holders of a same price player. Eg the 5th mf can be any 4.5m that plays (anyway will be on my bench). In defence the same. Tomkins can replace Schlupp. TAA can also be replaced by another 5m defender like Keane for example. But yes gives less flexibility. May drop laca for king or arna and upgrade the rest... or?

  8. @FPL_liverbird (liverpoolfa…

    Team structure:

Whats everyones planned structure? This is one of the most crucial parts to any start, allowing for flexibility

    Me currently:

    4.5 4.5

    6.5 6.0 4.5 4.5 4.0
    13.0 9.5 9.0 6.5 5.0
    11.0 7.0 4.5

It is key to get good flexibility from the start to hop on bandwagons and easy ways to generate money to fund moves.

I would say 60% of my team is staying put and I'm just now fiddling with 5/6 players.

If you go in the back for 6m and 5.5m or two 5.5m instead then you have an extra 1-1.5m to upgrade eg 4th or 5th mf or even 3rd striker. Very good options at 5.5-7.5m in both positions.

    3. Mr. Perfectionist

Great structure. Currently I'm on the same barring Sanchez in place of 9.5M and 5.5 DEF in place of 6.5 DEF. Think I will stick to it as I am very keen on Sanchez.

On about version 200 here keep changing my mind. Do I need a bench this early in the season? Thinking no at the moment ... thoughts?
    Ederson, Stekelenburg
Robbo, Azpi, Mendy (Wan B, Simpson)
    Salah, Sánchez, Neves, Rich, Pedro
    Auba, Arni (Quaner)

Will change Sanchez to KDB or Hazard week 3ish.

I am opting for a bench but am equally tempted to bulk buy into a 3 4 3 with a 4/4.5 def+mid and wildcard gw4/5

    Pickford (Speroni)
    Robbo Baily Tarkowski (AWB Bennett)

Similar to mine 2 posts above. I have no bench either and think it’s ok if you expect an early wildcard. Really like your midfield. Very strong. I prefer Arni to Zaha at the moment but that’s personal preference.

Yes, I saw your post I love the Sánchez pick this is one of the first drafts I’ve done without him in it. I just don’t know what to do whether or not to try and work him in. Might be because I’m a united fan I really want him there. I can see him playing a more central role this year. Plus I’m not sure if Auba is worth1.5m than Laca but too many people have Auba to not go with him. And the Arnie Zaha debate is going to go on for so long! Just have to choose and run with it I reckon.

I really like Sánchez as a pick. Bit of a differential in the early weeks. I’m a Chelsea fan and with the chat of Zaha perhaps going there I’m going Arni and waiting to see what happens with him. I had him last season though and loved him.
I’ve had the same thoughts about Laca and Auba but easier to downgrade rather than upgrade later.

That is true. What’re your thoughts on morata as a pick? Thinking he could be a steal if you start well. But I hasn’t thought of the Zaha going to Chelsea and potentially not being a starter. I’m just not sure if not having any City attack is a massive risk.

Morata could be great but his confidence is rock bottom. He needs some goals. If Chelsea start well I think Hazard will be essential with Sarriball coming into play.
I’m worried about no Man City attack too. Might do a last minute Auba to Kun if he looks nailed. Version 201 coming soon ha.

RMT Please been tinkering so much and no doubt by the time next Friday arrives there'll be a few more ins and outs. But I am pretty happy.

Agree with earlier comments. Also why speroni? Wont start. Stekenburg would make more sense. If it were me i’d bin Tosun and use the cash to beef up midfield.

From everything i've read priorities for spend are

      1. Strikers - Aguero, Auba are premium, Tosun has great fixtures, Jota is OOP

      2. Defence - Mendy, Robertson, Bailly, - Top 4 defence

      3. Mid - Silva & Mane Proven, Question mark over Pedro (may upgrade to Mkhi)

      4. GK - Pickford is Fixture play

Really keen on Sanchez as I see him as the main man for Utd. Downgrade Arnie > King and get a 5.5 Mid in place of Cairney you reckon?

i'd be wanting an upgrade on Quaner or Cairney, whichever one is your starter. Possible defence sacrifice?

Cairney is the starter as I thought he might tick over with some consistent points.

Arnie > King and Luiz > TAA you reckon?

But who would you get in the 5.5 or 6.0 MID bracket?

Ideally if you can get 1.5 from elsewhere then I'd either get Cairney to Richarlson or similar. Or kamara to Austin.

Defence looks pretty weak as it is tbh, I have considered sanchez myself the problem for me isn't him its utd they rarely score more than a couple of goals so puts a points ceiling on him, but if they start like last season they could rack up the early points, there is no right answer.

You're right. I guess that's the price you pay when having both Salah and Sanchez in the team.

Agreed but with all the WC hangover, Manager changes, early transfer window and players not fully back yet I just thought I would not want to go heavy in defence and have made my team around some certain individuals I would want i.e. Salah, Sanchez, Auba & Mendy. Rest all our fillers that I think will do best in that price range TBH. Maybe it's too risky and I should try and get a bit more balance. Only if I had the cojones to go without Salah :'(

I think we all wonder that this season lol I was kane less all summer last season then capitulated to peer pressure and what a mistake that was for his August drought

Yeah maybe Mane could come close to matching Salah's points for the 1st few GW's. It's really tricky I think. Just very safe and sensible to go for Salah but team balance is a bit of an issue espeically since I would want Kane as well at some point.

Fair point on Sanchez and the points ceiling. Might have to take off my rose-tinted glasses and reconsider. Mane is very tempting ATM.

Not bad for a 4-4-2. I'd maybe consider Going with fixtures over form for Arnie's spot in the team, but that's just me.

Looks solid. A few suggestions from my end would be:-

DDG > 5.5 (Allison or Ederson)
Hughes not the best defensively so 5m too much on Vestergaard > switch to 4.5 DEF
KDB unlikely to start so would downgrade to Mahrez/Sane

    3. Witty Pun: Not good at this…

Looks reasonable. Some picks not for me but nothing wrong, except KdB probably won't start GW 1. I would pick Kamara over Quaner however. He's second choice for every position across the front three.

    Ederson / Speroni
    Alonso Bertrand Coleman

      For a non-Salah team, you're nearly there.

I think Auba + Aguero is enough - no need for an overvalued Sanchez as well.

      I'd make a few tweaks:
      1. Get a better back up than Speroni. Hamer/Stekelenberg probably best.
      2. Sort the defence out. Clean sheets are the most important source of points followed by attacking returns. I'd be looking at Mendy, Robertson, Luiz, Davies ahead of the ones you've picked.
      3. Personally not keen on Pedro/Richarlison (unless Willian is sold) so I'd consider Sanchez - - > Eriksen, Pedro - - > Silva, Richarlison - - > Hughes or something similar

    Richarlison - Salah - Mane - Eriksen

    Any thoughts on this:

    Fabianski / Begovic

Mendy / Daniels / PVA (Bednarek WBis)

Salah / Eriksen (will upgrade to KDB) / Jota / Mikhi / Richarlison

    Kun / Arn / Austin

Can’t decide whether to ditch Mikhi for a 4.5 mid and upgrade one of the cheaper defs.

    Salah - Eriksen - D.Silva - Richarlison - Cairney
    Aubameyang - Arnautovic
