Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

Site regular and moderator ZoumasBloomers has here given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team, and please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding, but this will work best if you help out others as well as getting responses.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

ZoumasBloomers’s RMT

Fabianski – Patricio

Mendy – Robertson – Cedric – Wan-Bissaka – Tomkins

Salah – Mahrez – Mane – Richarlison – Cairney

Aubameyang – Arnautovic – Sorloth

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5m, obviously a quality goalkeeper with international pedigree, and Wolves have some tight fixtures. Seems a no brainer for the 4.5 rotations, after Ryan/Fabianski didn’t rotate well. Sounds like Wolves were quite tight last year as well.

Fabianski – 4.5m, still got memories of his seemingly random hauls last year. Guaranteed save points. Hopefully going to West Ham doesn’t diminish his point scoring potential (still haven’t forgiven Ogbonna from last season)

Defenders

Mendy – 6m, a bit of a punt early on as he seems to be made of tissue paper and not played many minutes, but from his brief spell last season it’s very clear that he offers attacking potential on top of a decent defensive record. Delph and Zinchenko don’t seem to be in favour, and there’s every chance of a very tasty return to 5 at the back from Pep at some point. Will monitor Community Shield.

Robertson – 6m, should be nailed early season, and has some pretty tidy fixtures. Will get in a few crosses, and very easy to switch down to free up funds if pressing issues arise. May even do a goal. Chances are high that he will become a Man Utd defender once their settled XI becomes apparent, but for now I am happy to avoid Jose’s grumpy circus.

Cedric – 4.5m, I’m expecting absolutely nothing from this bloke, may not even start after the World Cup, and doesn’t get as many attacking returns as he should. However, he seems cheap and fixtures are reasonable. Easily benched if needed. A rabbit hole I seem to dive down at the beginning of every season, at least he wastes less money than Bertrand did last year.

Tomkins – 4.5m, Seems to keep clean sheets when paired with Sakho, and does pose a threat from set pieces. Some decent early fixtures providing Palace start better than last season. Roy should have them in a reasonable shape.

Wan-Bissaka, 4m – Would prefer for this to be Peltier, but injury has put me off there. Likely to be perma-benched unless I shift Tomkins early doors. Could prove to be nailed, and should at least offer some price rises as people realise this.

Midfielders

Salah – 13m, I’m too scared not to.

Mane – 9.5m, I like the look of Liverpool fixtures, and Mane has certainly had a good pre-season. Could possibly be on penalties, definitely seems fresh, and gives a good coverage of Liverpool’s attacking options so that I can spread my strikers around. Will have to put up with a few 60 minute substitutions though.

Mahrez – 9m, all aboard the Pep Guardiola rotation wagon. If playing, he should be high up the field, and was experimented with as number 10/false 9 in preseason. No WC fatigue, just need to wait on injury news. Can easily become David Silva if signs are that he may not start. Fully expecting disappointment after I WC’ed him in last season and he cost me a top 1k finish. Could have some free kicks off KDB if he is feeling generous.

Richarlison –  6.5m, What on earth am I doing!? The man has a 50p head, and misses 1 on 1s for fun. However, £50m signings should start every game, and Everton have great fixtures. Should have a point to prove under Marco Silva, and a proper summer of rest after playing for nearly 12 months last year. Could well be this year’s bargain if he finds his shooting boots. Worth a punt, and a goal in preseason is a good sign.

Cairney – 5m, I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen him play. Looks the best of the 5m options for me purely because Kenedy has shocking early fixtures and Neves plays deep and loves a card. Fully expect Cairney to shuffle to Kenedy on my first WC. Will rotate with my 4th defender and 3rd striker.

Forwards

Aubameyang – 11m, the man that everyone will want from GW3. I’d love a nailed Aguero but I’m concerned that Jesus will steal some minutes in that GW2 fixture against Huddersfield. Saving myself the hassle of a transfer by starting with the Arsenal man, has every chance of scoring vs a travelled City side in GW1 anyway

Arnautovic – 7m, never a dull moment, equal chances of scoring a brace or elbowing someone in the head. Has been banging them in in pre-season, and West Ham’s fixtures aren’t as bad as made out (and they boast a decent squad this season). Concerned that Zaha may move back into midfield, or that his head will have turned by transfer rumours, so going with the early season form and security here. Only issue is that some re-jigging will be needed to turn him into Firmino if things go south.

Sorloth – 5m, Reasonable start to his Palace career, looks quite sharp for an absolute lump of a man and may well header a few in at some point. Likely to always be on the bench, but offers more potential than the 4.5m strikers. Nicely fills out an all Palace bench for me as well.

CONCLUSION

A lot of very highly owned players being overlooked, but a lot of decent price players that can be easily switched.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Where have I gone wrong, and where have I gone right? What do you suggest I change? Feel free to tear into me in the comments!

Hi All... Pls comment on my below team

    Ederson
    Bailly Robby Mendy
    Mane Salah Richarlison Pedro
    Aguero King Zaha

Bench is 4.0 defenders(Wan B, Peltier) and Mid as Ward... + 0.5 in bank

Problem i see is since i have ederson and mendy it takes away 2 spots in Man city defence and i can only have 1 man city attacker in future.. what are your thoughts thanks

I like it on the whole and two defenders who will definitely play is better than two uncertain starters in midfield for city!
Personally I don't like king or bailly

I agree with the city thing, if they start flying it might take you a while to be able to get their attacking threats in..

..feeling quite settled and yes I’m aware I have a lack of premium forwards. Not phased by that. Will take hits if necessary.

    begovic
    robertson - davies - mendy
    salah(c) - sane - mane - richarlison - pedro
    zaha - arnie

ederson - sclupp - awb- quaner

If you're going with Ederson I'd just play him every week and put in a 4m keeper. That gives you an extra .5m to spend somewhere else. And you know deep down Bournemouth will concede anyway. Or potentially go for Stekelenberg who might play in Evertons first game.

good team... do you think that by getting 2 mancity in defence it makes constraint of getting only 1 forward or mid,... is it a drawback ?

    Pretty happy with this, RMT:

    Ederson - 4.0

    Robertson - PVA - Doherty - (Dunk - AWB)

    Salah - Sane - Mane - Richarlison - Cairney

    Aguero - Arnie - (Kamara)

0.0ITB but 3-5-2 most weeks but will rotate Doherty, Dunk, AWB and Cairney dependent on fixtures. Kamara just fodder. Thoughts? (pls rip to shreds)

Alternatively - Mane + Arnie to Ramsey + Firmino? (but would have to downgrade my defence). Also not 100% on PVA especially since double Palace defence - is David Luiz nailed on at 5.5? Thanks!

Hi - so starting to narrow this down:
    Fabianski/4.0
    Robertson, Bailly, Mendy, Wan-Biss,4.0
    Salah, Eriksen, Mahrez, Ramsey, Richarlison
    Zaha, Arnie, King

3-5-2 formation with King covering front 7 in case of rotation/injuries in first few GW's. When things become clearer then may downgrade King to upgrade Ramsey.

I like the look of this - assuming W-B is first choice. I have toyed with something similar. With so many premium strikers on holiday or just getting back to training, it seems like now or never to try a 100% mid-priced forward line.

I agree - my thinking is that King can be downgraded to a 4.5, and the extra 2 can upgrade a defender or upgrade Zaha to Vardy/Firmino if Zaha buggers off, or upgrade mid-field. But 6.5 is a bit much to be leaving on the bench for too long...

    RMT out of 10 please!!
    Thanks in advance.

    3-5-2
    Ederson
    Robertson - Bailly - D.Luiz
    Salah - Eriksen - D.Silva - Richarlison - Cairney
    Aubameyang - Arnautovic

Bench: Boruc, Tomkins, Wan Biaskka, Wells

    Pros
    - included Form players/ players that started pre-season games
    - Flexible buget distribution in midfield
    - strong DF/GK; fire and forget options

    Cons
    - Weak bench
    - Cairney starting every week
    - Bad fixtures for Aubameyang (first two) and Arnautovic

Not saying this is right or wrong but I've had Auba in all pre season and have just got rid (because of fixtures) for Bobby f. I figure, if I have money in the bank I can get him when the fixtures turn

Is this a little bit too far?

    Speroni (Boruc)
    Robbo Bailly Tarkowski AWB (Bennett)
    Salah Hazard Sánchez Richar (Stephens)
    Auba Arnie (Kamara)

Tried something a little crazy to see what could work. Could even drop Auba to Laca and upgrade GK to Pickford

Suspect you will have to swop Hazard out initially for a MCity midfielder. The potential of Sanchez may also have to be reconsidered if Lukaku starts GW1. Looks like you should try and extract more value from your Defenders, too.

Rest of the squad is as follows:

    Ryan

    DEF1 / DEF2 / DEF3

    Salah / Eriksen / MID3 / Milivojevic

    Aubameyang / Arnautovic / King

    Button / Boly / W-B / Chalobah

I don’t like the look when Mendy and Sane are paired. Probably due to Peps past comments.

I like 6.5 mids with more security of long-term nailedness than Pedro offers.

Overall, seems like a lot of risk in this team with a very light bench.

Eriksen would fit since you already have 3 pool. I like the consistent returns he offers though beware of the 5 away fixtures in the first 7 GW.

If you are concerned with not having any City attack, perhaps switch Auba for Kun you ditch Sane.

Good looking team. Only Sane that I’d question. Will he get the starts (especially if Pep goes to a back 3) and didn’t Pep also suggest he wasn’t as match fit as he’d like?

Maybe better option than him would be Eriksen? Because he's as nailed as it gets and plus that he's on set-pieces...

Pep recently said Sane wasn’t match fit. And last year said Sane is a bad fit in the side when Pep plays a back 3 with Mendy as a wingback.

Coleman an expensive sub and the Tofees have not exactly looks secure in pre-season.

I would appreciate some feedback please. This is my first draft that has been ready for a public forum!

    McCarthy (Fabs)
Mendy - VVD - Luiz (WB, Peltier)
    Salah (c) - Mane - Eriksen - D Silva (Obiang)
    Arnie - Tosun - King

The theory - rotating keepers, strong defence from top 6 teams, premium midfield and value strikers.

Concerns - Lack of top strikers, weak bench & Saints defence. Apart from that I’m happy!

    All comments appreciated.

Only one that will probably avoid rotation is KDB and he’s and extra 1 mill - would mean downgrading Arnie/Zaha to a 6 and not too sure who’d be worth a punt at 6 mill

Was looking at that too, for at least the first 3 weeks Mahrez is best shout with players not yet fully fit post WC. Worst case scenario I can downgrade him to a regular starter for a lower price and upgrade my bench striker

In light of Newcastle’s fixtures, I think it’s worth picking another 5.0 mid with easier fixtures to see if you can strike gold and catch price rises before Kenedy/Newcastle’s fixtures turn for the good (GW9-18).

Lowton provides the most value in the Burnley defence

Not too sure on Speroni will get many minutes as a rotation - Lossl or Ryan for an extra .5? Whos your 5th Midfielder?

Probably a defender - if Burnley rotate their defence after Europa games then you’ll need someone in for their defender

Yeh. During the Europa run there'll be rotation. Full backs run more than centre backs, so Tarks is possibly more nailed for Pl duties.

Mitrovic doesn’t convince me, but maybe worth a gamble.

Defence may struggle with two non-certain starters on the bench

The starting 3 are nailed though so shouldn’t need the bench hopefully. Could downgrade Jorginho and get a 4.5 def sub?

I’ve gone WB and Peltier as they look like starters at least (despite a slight injury concern over the Cardiff player)

    Ederson
    Azpi - Robertson - Bissaka
    Salah - Mane - Sane - Eriksen - Richarlison

    Is it too riski?

Tweaked. Again. Thoughts on this bunch:

    Begovic Fabianski

Van Dijk / Mendy / PVA / Daniels / Wan Bis

Eriksen / Salah / Richarlison Jota / Fraser

    Kun / Arn / Austin

I’m not sold on Mendy being as cost effective as Davies/Robertson/Young who can grab a few extra points for assists/goals

Aguero might suffer from Peps rotation policy

Bego and Daniels seems overkill when the Bornmouth defence is pretty suspect I think.

Rest looks good if Austin plays

I’ve been stuck on this for 2 weeks so must be happy with it. What do our think?

    Patricio (Fabianski)
    TAA Cedric Daniels (Mendy Wann-Bissaka)
    Neves Eriksen Sane Salah Jorginho
    Aguero Firmino (Kamara)

Mendy will come in in GW 2 for Cedric plus will more than likely bring in Auba from GW 3

Don't like the 2 cheap mids as starters each GW.

Still tinkering - but here is current thinking

Ederson - Foster (covers Ederson weak fixtures)
Luiz / Bailly / Jakielka / Daniels / Wan-Biska (covers chelsea / united def and 3 cheapies rotate well)
    Salah / Mane (may become Sane) / Willian / Richarlison / 4.5
    Aguero / King / Gray

King / Gray / Richarlison will roatate re who has decent fixtures.

    Thoughts welcome!

    Foster
    Bailly, Shaw, Luiz
    Salah, Alexis, Mane, Jota
    Firmino, Arnie, King
    (Boruc, Tomkins, AWB, Ward)

Gambling on two things for August:

    1. Man Utd beat Leicester to nil with Sanchez scoring. With Vardy, Maguire (and Mahrez) missing, utd will never face a weaker leicester team.
    2. Liverpool beating west ham with all three of their forwards involved. Arnautovic scoring or assisting would be a bonus, but without a liverpool def, it would be nice if they didn't keep a CS.
    3. KDB & Mendy are back for GW2 - will allow Sanchez & Shaw > KDB & Mendy for the long run

    Madness?

Have to say going without VVD is the main concern, i will probably chicken out & get him for Mane or Firmino

    Mendy - Coleman - Robertson
    Salah - Mane - D.Silva - Kenedy
    Auba - Zaha - Arnie
