Wolves unchanged yet again as Gudmundsson returns for Burnley

The first of two Premier League matches to be contested this Sunday kicks off at 13:30 BST, with Wolverhampton Wanderers taking on Burnley at Molineux.

Ruben Neves (£5.2m), without an attacking return since Gameweek 1, is by far the most widely owned player on show in the West Midlands this afternoon, sitting in over one in four Fantasy Premier League squads.

Neves has created only one chance from Gameweek 2 onwards, with all eight of his attempts on goal unsurprisingly coming from outside the opposition area.

No Wolves or Burnley player had a higher number of net transfers in than Ryan Bennett (£4.1m) this round, with the budget defender experiencing his first price rise of the season.

All six of Wolves’ backline – goalkeeper Rui Patricio (£4.5m), the three centre-halves and the two wing-backs – are currently available for £4.5m or less and have shown promise in their first four league matches this season: only two clubs have conceded fewer big chances than Nuno Espirito Santo’s side while just three sides have allowed more shots in the box.

Santo has named an unchanged side for the fifth successive league match, with Raul Jimenez (£5.5m) fit to lead the line after slight concerns about a muscle injury picked up over the international break.

Sean Dyche, meanwhile, has made three changes to the Burnley team that was defeated by Manchester United a fortnight ago.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£5.9m) returns to the Burnley starting XI – not a single FPL midfielder under the £6.0m mark registered more assists than the Icelandic midfielder in 2017/18.

Sam Vokes (£5.4m) and Ashley Barnes (£5.7m) also come into the side as Dyche fields a 4-4-2 from the start for the first time this season, with Chris Wood (£6.4m), Ashley Westwood and Dwight McNeil (both £4.5m) dropping out.

Not one of the Clarets’ players is owned by more than 10% of FPL bosses, with James Tarkowski (£5.0m) the most widely selected Burnley asset sitting in 9.8% of Fantasy squads.

Faith in the Burnley attack is also thin on the ground: not one of Burnley’s six starting midfielders or forwards is owned by more than 1% of Fantasy managers.

Wolves XI (3-4-3): Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Jonny, Moutinho, Neves, Doherty; Costa, Jota, Jimenez

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Hart; Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor; Lennon, Hendrick, Cork, Gudmundsson; Barnes, Vokes

    A) Sterling + Giroud/Wilson/King/Zaha
    B) Dilva + Lacazette

Cant help think B is the better option but Sterling looking good.

Agreed......been denied a Mendy & Alonso assist so far this season, where as the Sanchez owner bagged a lesser case for himself.

Penalties are different, doesn’t have to be direct

It just seems not to have been applied fairly. Aguero and Lacazette were both awarded assists for blocked shots that eventually fell to another player that scored. How is that more direct than pass that was in the general direction of two players, deflected to one who scored?

I think I'm just having a hard time with the logic, and that there hasn't been an explanation from OPTA or from the FPL authorities...also that he was my captain.

When even the player himself is saying it was an assist, FPL needed to act

    6. Brosstan
      • 9 Years

The rules are clear. It was not an assist (and I own Alonso). The inconsistency where crosses like that are not assists while random shots that get blocked are counted as assists is annoying though, and causes confusion from people who dont know the exact wording in the rules.

        Oh- I found it. https://www.premierleague.com/news/825262

So basically they are saying that the deflection "significantly alter[ed] the intended destination of the ball?" I still disagree! Even if you think the pass was intended for Barkley and not Willian, they were both in the same "area of the pitch." It's still BS.

    Would you wildcard?

    Current Team:
    Patricio (Foster)
    Alonso/Mendy/Robertson (AWB/Tomkins)
    Salah/Maddison/Fraser/Neves (Jorginho)
    Aguero/Aub/Mitrovic
    (0.4 ITB)

    I fear not having Hazard

I could do, could put Jimenez and Hazard in.

However on wildcard (or-16) I could have:
        Patricio (Foster)
        Alonso/Mendy/Robertson (AWB/Doherty)
        Hazard/Maddison/Mane/Fraser/Richarlison
        Aguero/Zaha/Mitrovic

Would mean getting rid of Salah though
