Watchlist Update – Fulham options on the rise as Hazard tops midfield charts

We have completed our update of the Watchlist ready for Gameweek 6.

After examining the best goalkeeping and defensive options earlier this week, we have run the rule over the midfielders and forwards.

Read ahead to find out how we’ve ranked each option.

Midfielders

Eden Hazard (£10.8m) has risen to the summit of this section of the Watchlist, displacing the previous leader Mohamed Salah (£13.0m). There is no doubting that the Chelsea man is in better form and his cheaper price-tag is also a deciding factor when differentiating between these two. However, Hazard does lose his Favourable Fixtures factor with Liverpool and Manchester United two of his next four opponents.

Meanwhile, Salah’s fixture difficulty goes in the opposite direction. With Gameweek 5’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur out of the way, he loses the Unfavourable Fixtures factor. Although, back-to-back matches with Chelsea and Manchester City in Gameweeks 7 and 8 stop him from having a favourable factor in this department. We should point out that the fact that Salah has dropped on the Watchlist does not mean we think he won’t do well against Southampton.

Sadio Mané (£10.0m) and Ryan Fraser (£5.7m) are two non-movers in third and fourth place respectively. The only change of factors between the pair is that loss of Unfavourable Fixtures for the Liverpool man. Given their points returns thus far in 2018/19, both players retain an A for form.

David Silva (£8.5m) rises slightly after his Gameweek 5 goal against Fulham and the continuation of appealing fixtures. We suspect he is one of the few Man City options to be favoured within the Pep Guardiola rotation policy, although we feel we need a few more weeks of Champions League football before we can take the Rotation Risk factor.

There is a welcome return to the Watchlist for Richarlison (£6.6m) who looks set to make his comeback from suspension against Arsenal this week. Even though he had scored three goals prior to his sending off in Gameweek 3, we’ve given him a B for his form. That is so we can reflect that negative score at Bournemouth. There is no doubting that the fixtures still favour Richarlison and his Everton team-mates with Arsenal, Fulham, Leicester and Crystal Palace to come in the next four Gameweeks.

The appeal of Hazard and a 10-point haul for Willian in Gameweek 5 have seen Pedro (£6.8m) drop a few places. We believe that he is still at risk of rotation in Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea side. Furthermore, he was taken off with an injury in the Europa League on Thursday night, although the Blues’ manager has described it as “not very serious”. Meanwhile, a swing in the difficulty of Fulham’s fixtures sees potential bargain Andre Schürrle (£5.9m) climb up to eighth place.

Lucas Moura (£7.4m) drops a few places too with some of the cheaper midfield assets demonstrating better value. However, Spurs have now been graced with a Favourable Fixtures factor.

James Maddison (£6.6m) and Paul Pogba (£8.2m) are non-movers while Roberto Pereyra (£6.3m) drops to the bottom of the pile. Watford’s fixtures remain tough but he sticks around for on account of his form and shots in the box statistics.

Aaron Ramsey (£7.4m) drops off the list this week as the Arsenal midfield proves difficult to work out. The Gunners still have favourable fixtures but there is still uncertainty over the best starting XI. Meanwhile, Ramsey himself was poor against Newcastle and is still yet to register any attacking returns.

Forwards

Sergio Aguero (£11.4m) keeps his place at the top of the list for forwards. As we’ve already mentioned, Man City continue to have good fixtures and their talismanic striker is still involved in the goals. Much the same as with David Silva, we think Aguero will start in Gameweek 6 but we’ll need more data before bringing ourselves to remove the Rotation Risk factor.

Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.8m) climbs the Watchlist for the same reason as Fulham colleague Schürrle. The Cottagers’ fixtures look very appealing in the coming weeks, especially for attacking returns. The Serbian still tops the league for shots on target and is behind only Aguero and Salah for total efforts on goal.

Up next is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m) as Arsenal’s fine run of fixtures continues. Alexandre Lacazette is certainly pushing to replace him but until the Frenchman has started more matches in succession we’re leaving Aubameyang on.

Callum Wilson (£6.3m) sits in fourth place. While he matches Aubameyang’s factors for a much lower price, we’ve left him below the Arsenal man. This is because Fraser offers a cheaper alternative for Bournemouth attacking returns in midfield whereas no such option exists for the Gunners.

Up next is two options set to feature at Old Trafford in Gameweek 6 in Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) and Raúl Jiménez (£5.5m). Lukaku is still ranked second for shots on target and in the box among forwards and Man United still have great fixtures to rely on. Meanwhile, Wolves forward Jiménez ranks inside the top five accurate shots and total efforts on goal among forwards, making him a potential bargain given his price.

Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) is up next as he combines consistent form with promising fixtures. However, we’ve put him below some of the aforementioned options as he is performing below them for underlying statistics thus far. Fantasy Football Scout members can read more about that in the Members’ Area.

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is also in great form with three goals and an assist to his name this season. However, West Ham’s fixtures are still tricky with Chelsea, Man United and Spurs all set to visit the London Stadium in the next four Gameweeks. Furthermore, he still carries the injury tag after going off with a knock at Goodison Park in Gameweek 5.

Harry Kane (£12.5m) sinks down to ninth on the Watchlist, although he does benefit from the Favourable Fixtures tag, as is the case with team-mate Moura. Kane’s fall in stock can be attributed to the wealth of cheaper options all bettering him for underlying statistics over the first five Gameweeks.

Completing the set is Glenn Murray (£6.5m) who now has four goals this season, as many as Mitrovic. He and the Fulham man are the only forwards priced under £7.0m to have reached that tally thus far. The fixtures aren’t particularly favourable or unfavourable for Brighton in the coming weeks. It’s Spurs and Man City up next but then it’s West Ham and Newcastle after that.

Really unsure what transfers to make if any. Really want Mitrovic but also don't want to lose Arnie but might have to. 1FT, 0.0ITB

    Hennessey Ryan
    Alonso Robertson Mendy Holebas Wan-Bissaka
    Salah Hazard Pedro Fraser Hughes
    Aguero Arnie Ings

    a) Arnie > Mitrovic
    b) Pedro > Richarlison
    c) Aguero + Pedro > Mitrovic + Sterlin, -4
    d) Robertson + Ings > Doherty + Mitrovic, -4

The only reason I'm considering dropping Aguero is his goal return. He's only had 1 game in which he's scored so far, albeit a very good week

    DDG
    Alonso, Mendy!, Robbo, AWB

Your current team looks really good. Although the starters are a worry. It's looking like Arnie will play but I don't know anything about Pedro or Mendy. I think your team is too good to wildcard so would just let your bench do the work if required

Nice WC team. How did you got to - 4 and still have 2 doubtful players?

Your WC obviously is better, and it erases injury issues (and thus need for future add'l transfers) for the future, but really depends on if you are OK WC'ing at this time, or feel it is important to hold on to WC longer (already used my WC, so for me you know my opinion). Could wait until pressers to see about Mendy and then pull WC trigger if bad news?

No Quaner if you WC... you need all playing players as your next WC is in about 30 weeks quite possibly

Same as what's been said, Arnie should be fine, save the wildcard seems a waste on a strong side needing minimal changes. The pain will be too much to bare if they all start!

I agree, choice A to Maddison. Not sure Pogba scoring exploits will be consistent enough, and there is no guarantee that Dilva plays any more effectively (or as much) as Bilva as he played 90 in CL.

I was there. He played ok but did not set anything on fire. Played full 90 whereas Ozil subbed on. I think he's a real risk of being benched this weekend. Ramsey and Ozil likely to start ahead of him imo.

Should be. However, I like that team and don't think it needs much work so if you have any money in bank I'd be tempted to also bring in a defender for Peltier just in case you have a couple absentees from your starting 11. Doherty if you have money.

I think this week is the death of the Mendy-Robertson-Alonso trinity, not because they are bad options but because the big boys will start firing.

Kane, Aubameyang, Lukaku all have nice fixtures and I think having one of them with the current Salah-Hazard-Kun spine will be the move.

    1. Jayv807

if the RAM defense keep producing the points, no point dropping them regardless of what the 11m plus players are doing. More likely the likes of Salah would be sacrificed. there are a lot of 7m and below options this year as well, which makes RAM defense plus a couple of premium options more viable at the moment.

      1. Parm
        • 12 Years

Yes we keep saying this but you know how this game works in the end, Kane gets a hat-trick and everyone gets him. Sad reality.

I'm only talking about my team really, not others. frequent rotation/Injury/lack of production of one or more of the RAM defense would be the only reason I drop them.

Perhaps. But they are currently such a consistent scorer of points that it seems madness not to keep all 3 until their production levels drop off.

If they keep performing I would rather have all of them and a mid priced attacker than one of them, two cheaper defenders, and a one of the big boys. If you have too many expensive players they offer no value

Another week, another yellow flag. Should I stick with my plan of saving a FT or swap out Pedro to an 8.5m or less mid (other than B or D Silva as I am maxed on city already)?

Bilva needs shifting and I don’t think you need Haz and Pedro.

How about Pedro and Bilva to Dilva and Fraser?

Or Pedro and Bilva to Maddison and Richarlison.

Cheers! Agree that I need to lose Bilva soon but think that he’ll play this week so not now. I’m currently ok with Pedro and don’t see what’s wrong with having Pedro and hazard but it may be worth swapping him out as he isn’t getting consistent minutes and there are other good alternatives. Surely he won’t score every week he comes off the bench

    Here's a curly bench question:

    A) Ward and Bettinelli or

    B) Hojbjerg and Hennessey?

(This is just for bench GK and third sub. First GK is Patricio.)

Did Firmino > Wilson to open up funds for Hazard.
Sudden sinking feeling I'm going to regret getting rid of Bobby.

    Foster
    Alonso, van Aanholt, Robertson, Mendy
    Walcott, Hazard, Maddison, Salah
    King, Mitrovic

    Bench
    Patrício, Mkhitaryan, Wan-Bissaka, Ings

I'm really considering holding my transfer this week. Got Mkhi at 7.0, so I've already lost his profit and he won't drop more than once before the weekend. Hope for a goal-fest between EVE and ARS whom neither have a clean sheet and Walcott gets some returns. Wan-B covers Mendy's likely absence.

Obviously Fraser has my eye with form and fixtures, I'm tossing around a Schurrle punt as well. IDK man

I would be a little worried. You have 2 heavy hitters I stead of the usual 3 but the rest of the starting XI looks fairly template. I think you may do well to keep the rank up. Is there any plan for a 3rd heavy hitter?

      1. noahzark22
        • 6 Years

I don't look at number of 'heavy hitters' I have. I've gone fairly budget up top as Mitro, King, and Ings are producing as much as the 'heavy hitters'.

I'm real flexible and want to stay that way.

Good luck. Going with a strong squad is important so I hope it pays off. I just would worry with no ability to play an expensive striker in the long term.

remember to have AWB first on bench if you plan to get him in for Mendy. if your bench order is what it is now, Mkhiwill come in if he plays.

Who should be first on the bench between these two?

    Bennett (mun)
    Hojbjerg (liv)

Initially, I thought about the possibility that Wolves will be able to keep clean and leave with a goalless draw. But, then, United were on fire in midweek and it made me hesitate.

Not much point difference here, I guess.

Back to a 'normal' week of Barclays without any of the big six playing each other.

Remaining four games(i.e the ones where value picks might actually score points) are:

    Fulham vs Watford
    Burnley vs Bournemouth
    Crystal Palace vs Newcastle
    Leicester vs Huddersfield

    Clean sheets/goalscorers from those games?

Maddison and Co. at LC look good this week.

Fulham v Watford has the 3-2 look to it or 0-0

Burnley poor at the moment so likely to concede to an inform Bournemouth team.

The bottom 2 look good for clean sheets. Sakho is coming into my draft team as a result. There should be plenty of goals in the top one. And we will see if Bournemouth are the real deal and if Burnley are in real trouble in the other. Potentially a tough game to read.

Actually this is the exception, not the norm. Not a single GW have more than 2 top 6 teams facing each other this year. That means 2x(5+4+3+2+1)=30 GWs will see 2 top 6 sides clash against each other.

Bring em your views on this .

    Ederson
    Robertson Mendy Alonso AWB
    Fraser mane Hazard maddison
    Aguero King

    Hamer mkhi kabasele kamara

Captain one of robertson or Hazard .

Mkhi and king can become Richarlison and mitrovic by next week
