Has premium defender Marcos Alonso outlived his FPL value?

Marcos Alonso (£7.0m) is now without an attacking return in Fantasy Premier League since Gameweek 4.

Despite proving a hugely popular figure, there has been a drop off in his offensive potential in recent weeks.

In this members’ piece, we’ve taken a look at whether or not his owners should be worried about his place in their squads.

hopefully Salah if fit to play this gwk and then yes that is an easy option for me, it will be Firmino, but i'm also looking at Mane and Firmino with one of Aguero or Sterling.

    Alonso/Doherty/Mendy/PVA/AWB

How on earth can I fit TAA or Robbo in here??

Just go without or take a hit and lose either Mendy or Alonso to fit pool defender in??

        It's more difficult than that.

        Iv 2fts and I'm doing
Son ➡️ Salah as one of them.

Not enough with other ft to upgrade PVA to pool defender I'm afraid

If you still have 1FT after getting Salah can you not use the other FT to do PVA to TAA as pva 5.5 and TAA 5.2.

0.6 short of PVA ➡️ TAA after I get Salah.

Basically I'm screwed without a hit. Would mean losing Aguero most probably

Indeed. But getting Salah would cost him 0.6 more than difference between both, i presume.

But if his transfer is son to Salah, he has PVA in his squad still, so easily swapped to a player .3 cheaper. I think he might be confusing the price of TAA and robbo.

Not looked at his team, but bottom line is he wants Pool defender and has 2ft. 1st FT for salah 2nd for PVA to TAA (as he can't afford Robbo)...no matter what you have ITB a transfer of PVA to TAA is no problem as TAA cheaper.

You can't do PVA to TAA if you have spent 0.6 extra on Salah move. (this is double transfer so you can do Son to Salah without having enough money before downgrading PVA)

He has been shackled more. It was noticeable in the West Ham game after Arnautovic had a good chance to score, which was a result of Alonso running forward into the box rather than hanging back.

After that he was about 10 yards deeper than usual. Sarri had clearly told him not to get forward while Azpi was high up the pitch. It looks like he has been told to play a similar role to Azpi (i.e. one full-back stays, one goes), but with an added difference that Alonso can take free-kicks and be in the box for attacking corners.

On a wildcard, is Alonso a must have despite the drop of offensive potential or should I look for something cheaper, like TAA or Doherty?

Bought him at 6.9 so selling is not an issue value wise.

Worth keeping imo, he still a big attacking threat, no goal involvement in 4 games is not the end of the world for a defender, and he has had 2 CS in the meantime. Can you not lose someone else for Doherty?

Don't buy don't sell would be my take on Alonso. Bit tougher if you're on a WC like myself but I'm keeping.

I like B, but personally I would still go with a 4.5 keeper and upgrade elsewhere (hojeberg could be someone like Brooks/fraser/knockeart) or pocket change for a rainy day. But if you prefer having a premium keeper it's fine. Robbo better than TAA and Arnie could match Laca or come close at least.
