Spot the Differential – Anderson creativity turns heads for Gameweek 9

While Liverpool team news is perhaps the most popular Fantasy Premier League topic this week, we shouldn’t forget about differentials.

In fact, the recent fitness saga for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds has triggered an inclusion of a poorly owned attacking Anfield asset.

He is one of three options, owned by under 5% of Fantasy bosses, who we like the look of for Gameweek 9.

Felipe Anderson (£6.8m)

Ownership: 2.6%

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is, of course, the more popular West Ham option right now but his new colleague Felipe Anderson (£6.8m) is already coming into his own.

His role in set pieces has helped him rise to joint-second for chances created in the last four Gameweeks. He is level with Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) and just one behind Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) over that time period.

The Brazilian has been involved in direct free-kicks and his place within West Ham’s front three mean that he is often on the receiving end of crosses from the opposite flank – that’s why he was able to score against Manchester United in Gameweek 7.

Tottenham will be without Jan Vertonghen (£5.9m) again on Saturday and may be more vulnerable to a West Ham goal than usual, furthering Anderson’s appeal.

Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m)

Ownership: 1.9%

While Brighton have typically struggled away from home this season, a Gameweek 9 trip to Newcastle United could be their chance to buck the trend.

Only one side has allowed more penalty box goal attempts than the Magpies in home games this season and they are yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans.

For that reason, Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) could be a differential to consider. He has registered a fine balance between creativity and goal threat in the last four Gameweeks and has more shots on target than colleague Glenn Murray in that time too.

Furthermore, his role in set pieces could prove important. No team has conceded more headed attempts on goal than Newcastle in 2018/19.

Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m)

Ownership: 1.3%

No don’t worry, you haven’t accidentally stumbled across an article from 2014, we have actually tipped Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m) for potential success this week.

The Liverpool striker has made a comeback from injury this season that looks like it could be permanent at long last. More importantly, he’s been getting the job done on the pitch with two substitute Premier League goals this season and strikes also in the Champions League and EFL Cup.

With the recent fitness troubles of Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) and Sadio Mane (£9.8m) there is every reason that Sturridge could come into the side for the trip to Huddersfield Town.

Given he has averaged a goal every 21.5 minutes in the Premier League this season, a start in Gameweek 9 would stand him in good stead for attacking returns.

    Patricio
    Alonso - Robertson - Trippier
Mane- Hazard - Richarlison - Moura
    Aguero - Mitrovic - Vardy

Hamer: WB - Bennett - Hojberg

    1 FT
What should I do with this?
    1. Trippier to Mendy
    2. Trippier to TAA
    3. Moura to Fraser
    4. Mane to Sterling (with -4 by going option 2 or 3)
    5. Any Other Idea
    Thanks in advance

    Ederson - Hamer
    Alonso - Doherty - AWB - Tomkins - (Bednarek)
    Salah - Mane* - Hazard - Maddison - (Stephens)
    Aguero(c) - Wilson - Ings

    2ft

    A) Tomkins, Mane -> Robertson, Schurrle
    B) Tomkins -> Balbuena (rol 1 FT)

Option A gives me enough funds to do Wilson or Ings to Arnie later, I dont need to worry about Mane fitness and I have Liverpool attack covered, plus I get Robbo for 2 easy fixtures and Schurrle for Fulham fixture cover.

Option B is playing safe with Mane and letting autosub do the thing if he doesn't play. Also i get rid of CRY defender.

    Which one is better?

    Ederson

    Salah, Mane, Fraser, Neves

    Hamer, Wan-Bi, Stephens, Kabasele

Def: Doherty, Alonso, Laporte (WanBis & Bennett OB)
Mid: Fraser, Mane, Hazard, Richarlison (Masuaku OB)
    Fwd: Murray, Mitrovic, Aguero

Should I transfer one of the 3 injured midfielders out, as if they all don't play I will only have a 10 man side?

If it were as bad as it looks, surely he wouldn't be allowed on the training field. Must be another explanation, e.g. he's 'avin' a laugh; or he's been told to move like this to ease the pressure whenever it's not important to take the risk of moving normally.

Just spitballing, but if he were in a match and having to move like that he'd be taken off, or sitting on the the floor asking to be taken off. So I'm assuming he doesn't *have* to move like that, and there's not too muchto worry about 🙂

        1. MTPockets
            5 years, 6 months ago

Maybe he gets injections before games, not training.

Right. So he doesn't have to move like that in a game. No problems 🙂

We already know he's playing games through pain. The question is the magnitude and its manageability.

I know. And I'm saying this video doesn't warrant panic about its magnitude and manageability.... I say that it can't be as bad as it looks, and even say he could be moving like that as a method of managing the injury.

Can't decide between captain Aguero and captain Hazard. United are one of the three worst defences in the league right now, imo, four goals is a clear possibility for Chelsea...and United don't even have a bus to park even if they wanted to.

How do we think Fraser and/or King out will affect Wilson's output?

If your rank is high I would Aguero (C). Otherwise, don’t know.

Next week I can do Hennessey to any keeper 5.6 and below..

I’m leaning towards Alisson or Kepa

Crazy to think so far ahead but does anyone think Spurs at home in GW11 could be a good game for Doherty? Like will you be playing him?

Undecided as yet - I'll be able to play Holebas that week against Newcastle away if I choose to bench MD.

Spurs do have a midweek fixture in the Carabao before that match. Wolves have a week off... if that counts for anything....
