Spot the Differential – Anderson creativity turns heads for Gameweek 9

While Liverpool team news is perhaps the most popular Fantasy Premier League topic this week, we shouldn’t forget about differentials.

In fact, the recent fitness saga for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds has triggered an inclusion of a poorly owned attacking Anfield asset.

He is one of three options, owned by under 5% of Fantasy bosses, who we like the look of for Gameweek 9.

Felipe Anderson (£6.8m)

Ownership: 2.6%

Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m) is, of course, the more popular West Ham option right now but his new colleague Felipe Anderson (£6.8m) is already coming into his own.

His role in set pieces has helped him rise to joint-second for chances created in the last four Gameweeks. He is level with Bernardo Silva (£7.6m) and just one behind Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m) over that time period.

The Brazilian has been involved in direct free-kicks and his place within West Ham’s front three mean that he is often on the receiving end of crosses from the opposite flank – that’s why he was able to score against Manchester United in Gameweek 7.

Tottenham will be without Jan Vertonghen (£5.9m) again on Saturday and may be more vulnerable to a West Ham goal than usual, furthering Anderson’s appeal.

Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m)

Ownership: 1.9%

While Brighton have typically struggled away from home this season, a Gameweek 9 trip to Newcastle United could be their chance to buck the trend.

Only one side has allowed more penalty box goal attempts than the Magpies in home games this season and they are yet to keep a clean sheet in front of their own fans.

For that reason, Anthony Knockaert (£5.5m) could be a differential to consider. He has registered a fine balance between creativity and goal threat in the last four Gameweeks and has more shots on target than colleague Glenn Murray in that time too.

Furthermore, his role in set pieces could prove important. No team has conceded more headed attempts on goal than Newcastle in 2018/19.

Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m)

Ownership: 1.3%

No don’t worry, you haven’t accidentally stumbled across an article from 2014, we have actually tipped Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m) for potential success this week.

The Liverpool striker has made a comeback from injury this season that looks like it could be permanent at long last. More importantly, he’s been getting the job done on the pitch with two substitute Premier League goals this season and strikes also in the Champions League and EFL Cup.

With the recent fitness troubles of Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) and Sadio Mane (£9.8m) there is every reason that Sturridge could come into the side for the trip to Huddersfield Town.

Given he has averaged a goal every 21.5 minutes in the Premier League this season, a start in Gameweek 9 would stand him in good stead for attacking returns.

    Need 0.1 for another transfer...
    Which one would you do?

    1) Stephens -> McTominay
    2) Begovic -> Lössl
    3) Is Lössl nailed?

Who is your other keeper? If Begovic is 2nd choice I'd forget Lossl and just downgrade to a 4m. Wouldnt be any time I'd want to play Lossl anyway.

0 FT 3.8m ITB, anything worth a hit with 3 doubts?

    Pat (WAT)
Alonso (MUN), Doherty (WAT), Robbo (hud)
Hazard (MUN), Mane* (hud), Bilva (BUR), Richa (CRY), Fraser* (SOU)
    Aguero (BUR), Zaha* (eve)

Hamer- AWB - Kamara - Peltier

    I'm thinking either ...

    A) Kamara > Arnie/Mitro
    B) Peltier > Mendy
    C) Zaha > Arnie/Mitro
    D) No hit and hope 2/3 play and AWB off the bench

    @fplguru

Huddersfield lost both Premier League meetings 3-0 against Liverpool last season, in what where their first league meetings with the Reds since the 1971-72 campaign.

Huddersfield managed just one shot on target across their two Premier League games against Liverpool last season, and only six shots in total.

Huddersfield have failed to score in any of their four Premier League home games this season - only Everton in 1998-99 have failed to score in any of their first five at home at the start of a Premier League campaign. Huddersfield have failed to score in their last six home Premier League games - only Manchester City (8 in 2006-07) have ever had a longer such run in the competition

Huddersfield have fired in a league-low 20 shots on target in the Premier League this season, while only Man City (16) have faced fewer shots on target than Liverpool (21).

Liverpool are unbeaten in 12 matches in all competitions against Huddersfield (W9 D3 L0) and haven't conceded a single goal in any of their last seven against the Terriers.

Liverpool have lost just one of their last 16 Premier League games (W10 D5) and are unbeaten in their last nine (W7 D2 L0).

Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have lost five of their nine away Premier League games against teams starting the day in the relegation zone (P9 W2 D2 L5) and won none of their last six (W0 D2 L4) since a 6-0 victory at Aston Villa in February 2016.

    Couple of quick questions:

#1 Best def upto 5m for the next few gw's? looking for a shaw replacement. Options are:
    A) Duffy - good fixtures, can play him most weeks but quite a few away fixtures
    B) Morrison - very good home fixtures..can play every gw (except gw10) till gw15 WC. massive goal threat. limited cs potential
    C) Save FT and just play shaw

#2) if i keep shaw, start Shaw or Camarassa (from cardiff). camarassa has very good stats suprisingly

#3) Ings (NEW, mci, WAT, ful, MUN) or Jiminez (bha, TOT, ars, HUD, car) from gw10?

On wildcard, how would you fill in these three spots (1 GK, 1 DEF, 1 FWD):

    X - Button
    Alonso - TAA - Doherty - Bennett - X
    Hazard - Salah - Richarlison - Maddison - Obiang
    Aguero - Mitrovic - X

    A) Alisson, Laporte & Jimenez

    B) Patricio, Mendy & Wilson

Not much in it. But I'd likely go Flappy for the extra save points and better fixtures.

No doubt Pat is the better keeper though and Wolves the better team.

    Gomez (clean sheet machine)

    or

Pereira (playing OOP as a forward)??

Both have good run fixtures and I already have Robertson...

Anyone keeping Fraser because 'last time he was yellow flagged during IB he scored 18pts' is imo undergoing classic recency bias. Stanislas is fit which completly changes things. If Fraser needs a rest, Howe can probably afford to rest him more than before

You’re getting rid of Fraser mate?

Ya to bring in Salah. Was between Fraser/Maddison/Richarlison so the yellow flag + upcoming fixtures settled it for me. Was tempted to hold the 2fts for next week to re assess, could even still do it with Yedlin (BRI) 1st sub this week but Salah was the original plan after gw7 WC so gonna stick to it. The yellow flag has just made it easier to decide who to drop

Well then yes of course, makes sense.

Otherwise, eventhough I agree with your original statement above, that yellow flag and Stanislas presence is not, in itself, reason enough to get rid of Fraser without a second thought
