How premium options compare with best-ever FPL scores: Raheem Sterling

As Fantasy Premier League managers consider breaking up the template of premium options ahead of upcoming fixture swings, we continue our latest series.

We are comparing some of the more expensive options on offer against their best-ever FPL scores to see whether they are justifying their price.

After studying Harry Kane (£12.4m) earlier this week, we now move on to Manchester City midfielder Raheem Sterling (£11.2m).

Sterling’s best-ever FPL season was recorded in the 2017/18 campaign when he scored 18 goals and assisted 17 others.

Those figures combined for a total score of 229 points, 19 of which were registered through bonus.

So far in 2018/19, Sterling has amassed 79 points at an average of 6.58 per Gameweek. If he continues at his current rate he would record a total score of 250 points this season, which would be best of his FPL career thus far.

    What's peoples thoughts on match days posting on here? (not trying to upset anyone just an opinion thread).
    I found Bemba Da absolutely infurating on Sunday, constantly whinging about Matt Doherty being his first sub and how many bonus points he was getting, in the end he got 1 point.

    Should the amount of posts be restricted?

        I've made my peace with Bemba. He certainly has been annoying over the years but at least he provides a service; you know when he says OMG Rondon it isn't a fake goal shout. Likewise, he's all over the yellow cards in a way that nobody else could be bothered to match.

      It's absolute carnage here on match day, not even worth visiting. I pop on in the evening to see the diagnosis of everyone's day. They won't restrict posts because that is peak traffic time and the more people posting at a rate of knots the better really.

      Mostly it's very frustrating, I'm always amazed that some people don't realise that a game of football lasts 90 minutes...people declaring captain fails after 15 minutes, and then going overboard when their captain does score.

      Last weekend I saw people complaining that failed by getting Martial instead of Anderson, after Andersons goal, and before Martial had even played!

      Also the Wolves clean sheet...80 minutes of people whinging that they had been advised not to play their Wolves defenders because 'Arsenal would definitely score'.

      Match days on here are awful. The pits! But it's still the best place to be for fast confirmation of goals and other match events.

      Certain users should get match-day bans IMO. Trolls like Chucky that crawl out from under their rocks at these times to continuously spam utter shite have surely done enough to deserve such treatment.

        I'm not really sure what mods are able to do about it though?
        I fully support the ban on LOL posts, so don't know if it's possible to filter certain words on match days, I mean do we really need 3-4 pages saying Salahhhhhh every time he scores?

        The main thing I don't understand is that throughout the week we're all here to discuss fpl with the main idea to help each other out, and then on match days it's like certain people just live off of rubbing salt into the wounds of people who got something wrong.

        Then they're back on the site on Monday asking who is best Mendy replacement.

          You're right. It's completely shcizophrenic behaviour. I pass over these trolls' midweek questions our of principle, and if everyone ignored them maybe we'd be rid of them.

          I don't know what filtering options are available to the mods but I'm thinking perhaps the more automation the better on matchdays. They just get swamped as it is.

    I've found myself in the strange position of owning Walker the last couple of weeks.

    With only 2 clean sheets in the last 5, and severe lack of attacking returns, I'm not sure he's justifying his 6.5m price tag. However, I'm also not sure I can justify using a FT on him....

    Digne has more than double Trippier's crosses, and more than triple than Robertson's crosses during the previous 4 GWs. (granted 360 vs 294 vs 270 minutes played). Pretty impressive.

    Admittedly, another great option is Balbuena, who sits joint top for shots inside the box, big chances and second for xG during previous 4 GWs (for defenders).

    For me those two represent the best two options for a Mendy replacement. Both have good short terms fixtures, while Balbuena has good long term fixtures

        Nah, these are much better.

        Yedlin has poor attacking stats, Newcastle outperforming their stats in terms of defence, but they always seem to do it. They are on top of delta(xGC) with -3.70 (with Spurs second on -2.9).
        Dunk had 2 shots during the previous 4 GWs, and scored both.

        ...either way, my problem w/ Digne’s Crossing, is that Everton don’t seem to ever have players on the other end of them!
        Richarlison is their striker(& tallest attacker), and he’s usually a bit too deep, cause wants to break into the box w/ the ball

    "That has led to him notching up five assists so far. If he continues at the current rate, 0.42 per Gameweek, Sterling will register a total of 15.83 by the end of the campaign. That would be at least four more than his best-ever total of 11 recorded last season."

          Not worth it imo, its not like Jimenez is essential. He is good, dont get me wrong, good value. But your team is fine.
          If you want to change formation, i would downgrade Duffy and get Bennett or something like that, then play 3-4-3
