Premier League sides learn FA Cup third round fate

There are just two all-Premier League ties to be played in the third round of the FA Cup this season.

Bournemouth and Brighton will go head-to-head at the Vitality Stadium while Wolves are set to host Liverpool.

While the third round of the FA Cup is still some way off, it is obviously worth taking note of the fixtures that will take place.

Those all-Premier League ties may feature slightly stronger XIs compared those involving top flight sides facing lower league opposition.

The toughest tests for those FPL teams includes Chelsea’s hosting of Nottingham Forest, who have knocked out the holders of the FA Cup five times in their last six matches against a reigning champion.

Southampton will travel to Derby County where they will take on Frank Lampard’s in-form side.

Outside of that there appear to be mostly routine matches for the remainder of the Premier League clubs, whose FPL fixtures should be largely unaffected in terms of rotation.

The matches will take place between Gameweek 21 and 22.

What would you do with this lot?

    Patricio (Button)
    Alonso-Robbo-Laporte (AWB-Doherty)
    Sterling-Sane-Gudmundsson-Richarlison (Hojbjerg)
    Kane-Wilson-Arnie

    Looking at potentially this:
    A: Alonso+Gudmundsson -> Digne/TAA+Alli/Son (-4)
    B: Gudmundsson -> F. Anderson

Does it make sense to wait getting Sterling after the Chelsea game? Watford away a tough match and might be rested. Chelsea away a tough game. Salah got Burnley and Bournemoth in the other hand.

This week I’ve Jimenez (CHE), Doherty (CHE) and Camarasa (whu) providing backup - thoughts on optimal bench order appreciated.

Bearing in mind I’m starting Rui Patricio (CHE) ahead of Foster (MCI)...not sure if I’m overly keen on Doherty coming in, though a tight 0-0 is always a possibility.

With Neves sitting out this week through suspension, should Wolves draw a pen, Jimenez may be the player stepping up (albeit Helder Costa could also be a part of that rotation).

Camarasa is a nice steady option, but he has a low ceiling with both his attacking returns coming at home, and he’s unlikely to muster more than 2pts.

Hm, Jimenez possibly on pens with a referee that gives away pen for fun.. hm, Luiz first on bench and then Jimenez was my initial thinking but made me uncertain. Almost inevitable tat one of my bench comes in, as Mané, Sane/Silva could be rested.

Luiz, Jimenez and Doherty, most likely one comes in, maybe two if Pep rests Sané or Digne gets rotated. Worst case scenario i´ll need all three, Mané also, but most likely one of Sané or Mané comes in for a cameo. If all three in then it´s not the worst hopefully.

This week could be one for the history if Sterling, Robertson, Mané, Digne, Alonso, Aguero among the benched ones, plus there will be the odd benching here and there from lower teams, Balbuna, Camarasa, players one might have as bench fodders. But tye probability of that to happen is rather small in the end i guess.

If money is no issue, which one of the players would you rather have (I'm wildcarding)?

    a) Eriksen
    b) Son
    c) Siggy
    d) Dilva

I have 2 Spurs and 2 City players, no Everton so far. Currently I'm on Son, because even if he plays only 70 minutes a game that's fine. Occasionally not playing is fine too, but obviously I'd like my expensive players to play more often than not ;-). Siggy seems the most nailed of those (+ it seems he wont get any cheaper), right?

    Ryan

    Alonso/Doherty/Digne

    Haz/Rich/Salah(c)/Anderson

    Auba/Wilson/Arnie

    (AWB/Hughes/Balbuena)

Used my 2fts to get Auba and Anderson for Kun and Martial.

I know iv no city but given rotation fears I may get away with it for this week.

Hazard out for Sterling if he doesn't cop on..

Surely in due a 70+ pt week??

How's my team looking for tomorrow:

    Lloris
    Balbuena Alonso TAA
    Son Shaqiri Sane Siggy
    Mitro Arnie Kane (c)

Cant see any major problems but a bit worried about Shaqiri playing...any Liverpool fans able to offers some thoughts on his chances of starting?

I would be slighlty concerned about Balbuena, Sane, Shaw and Son being rested. Potentially Alonso aswell.

Really want to get rid of Martial first actually. Big mistake by buying him Mourinho is such a clown

I got him 2 weeks ago. So frustrating to own. Wanted him to run riot against Soton. Think we'll see something midweek for real

Mane strong rumours are he's not playing. Didn't train today and still has injury from that cut on his foot. Aguero it's all just reading between the lines with Pep. I wouldn't be confident, personally.

Playing a back four this week and putting Doherty as 3rd sub.

Then if both Robbo and Balbuena are out he’ll come on because my 3rd sub always scores well.

    How’s that for a tactic!
