Salah benched as Mane and Robertson miss out altogether

Six Premier League matches take place this evening to bring Gameweek 15 to a swift close, with many Fantasy Premier League captains – and vice-captains, following Sergio Aguero (£11.0m) and Raheem Sterling‘s (£11.5m) no-shows at Watford – set to be in action.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m), Harry Kane (£12.4m) and Eden Hazard (£11.0m) are the second, third and fourth-most popular captaincy options of this midweek round of matches – but just two of these in-demand players start for their respective clubs tonight.

Salah is only among the substitutes for Liverpool tonight as Jurgen Klopp rings the changes at Turf Moor, with injured pair Sadio Mane (£9.8m) and Andrew Robertson (£6.5m) not in the match-day squad and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£5.3m) and Roberto Firmino (£9.2m) also dropping to the bench.

Xherdan Shaqiri (£7.0m) lines up in a front three with Divock Origi (£5.0m) and Daniel Sturridge (£5.8m).

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.2m), who has experienced price rises in three consecutive days having been transferred in by over 525,000 FPL managers ahead of last night’s deadline, also lines up for Arsenal as the Gunners head to Old Trafford.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m) is named as a substitute for the third match running as Unai Emery perseveres with a 3-4-2-1, while Jose Mourinho has dropped Romelu Lukaku (£10.7m) and Paul Pogba (£7.9m) to the bench as he matches the Gunners with a three-man backline.

Hazard is named in Chelsea’s starting XI along with Marcos Alonso (£7.1m) as the Blues head to Molineux, though there are five changes elsewhere in Maurizio Sarri’s starting XI.

Morgan Gibbs-White (£4.3m) replaces the suspended Ruben Neves (£5.0m) for Wolves, while Ryan Bennett (£4.2m) is recalled to Nuno Espirito Santo’s line-up.

Dele Alli (£8.9m) is among five players dropping out of Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI for the visit of Southampton, with Kieran Trippier (£6.1m) fit to play at right-back.

Kane and Christian Eriksen (£9.2m) retain their starts after Sunday’s north London derby defeat.

Kelvin Davis has made four changes to the Saints side in what will be his only match in charge, with the south coast club reverting to a flat-back four.

Richarlison (£7.0m) is back on the left wing for Everton as Cenk Tosun (£6.6m) returns up front, with Rafael Benitez going ultra-defensive with a 5-4-1 at Goodison Park.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) is absent through injury as Leicester head to Craven Cottage, with Tom Cairney (£4.8m) dropping to the bench for the hosts.

Back to the fixture where we started this round-up, Sean Dyche has made five changes to his Burnley starting XI as James Tarkowski (£4.7m) returns in defence.

Burnley XI: Hart, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Gudmundsson, Cork, Westwood, Brady, Barnes, Wood.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Gomez, Van Dijk, Matip, Moreno, Henderson, Milner, Keita, Shaqiri, Sturridge, Origi.

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Zouma, Mina, Digne, Gueye, Gomes, Lookman, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Tosun.

Newcastle United XI: Dubravka, Yedlin, Fernandez, Schar, Lascelles, Manquillo, Ki, Diame, Atsu, Rondon, Murphy.

Fulham XI: Rico, Christie, Odoi, Mawson, Le Marchand, Kamara, Chambers, Seri, Sessegnon, Vietto, Mitrovic.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan, Soyuncu, Chilwell, Mendy, Ndidi, Albrighton, Maddison, Diabete, Iheanacho.

Wolverhampton Wanderers XI: Rui Patricio, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Doherty, Moutinho, Saiss, Vinagre, Gibbs-White, Jota, Jimenez.

Chelsea XI: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Christensen, Alonso, Kante, Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek, Willian, Morata, Hazard.

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Dalot, Bailly, Rojo, Smalling, Darmian, Herrera, Matic, Lingard, Martial, Rashford.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Bellerin, Sokratis, Holding, Mustafi, Kolasinac, Guendouzi, Torreira, Ramsey, Iwobi, Aubameyang.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Foyth, Rose, Dier, Winks, Eriksen, Son, Lucas, Kane.

    Let’s talk Forwards

Lots are now looking to get 2 big hitters up front (primarily Kane and Auba).

However Wilson and Jimenez are providing incredible value and appear fixture and rotation proof. I know some people (not me) like other budget options like Mitro and Ings too.

Is it time to move to 2 premium strikers or is 1 premium and a stronger midfield still the best approach.

    1. fenixri
      • 7 Years
      5 years, 3 months ago

I am always for midfield but fixtures and form suggest that Auba + Kane is the way to go.

But Auba can be also replaced with Lacca and you can use that money to upgrade mid. Now for me Auba is much better pick.

For me it boils down to sterling or Kane. I don't have Wilson. I d keep if he was in my team. However now I feel I have missed the train as fixtures are getting trickier . Jimenez fixtures also get harder. Also Kane and auba offer great captaincy options. I wouldn't be so keen to captain sterling with rotation risks ....but what do. I know 🙂

      1. TheDragon
        • 5 Years

That is the big plus point fit having Kane and Auba, their vaktaincy rotation over next 6 or so weeks is incredible.

How much of a rotation risk is Auba compared to Sterling though

It has to be Kane. He is only striker for Spurs in form, he will get much more game time then Sterling and honestly I believe Sane can cover Sterling atleast for december

Yes agree. Was looking to get Laca for a hit with selling Robbo, but getting Mitro in for free seems the better move. He is smashing Laca for goal threat accordibg to stats too

I'm sticking to 2 budget + Kane. Got money tied up in every slot. Would have to downgrade a few players to get Auba for instance.

      Eder (Hamer)
      Robb Laporte Alonso (Dohrty Awb)
      Salah Rich Anderson Son (Billing)
      Kane Wilson Mitro

Wildcard active, and this seems to be my defining dilemma...

Auba or Kane (perhaps even a rotation of the two) gives a nice degree of flexibility, and maintains a strong defensive line that has served so well this season.

Auba/Sterling captaincy rotation is also quite nice..

But there’s a feeling of security, going with both...

      1. TheDragon

Ye I just can’t decide. Before gameweek 15 my plan was:

GW15; Aguero and Hazard > Kane & Sane (which worked)

GW16: Kane -> Auba (and captain).

But now Im torn. Keep Kane, make the switch or wildcard for both?!

It’s even more complicated this week as I do think there is a risk Auba’s minutes are managed.

PS: this is my first ‘green post’ and also today is my first day of the season in the top 1k. It’s going to be a good day!

The main question for me comes down to do you play an extra cheap midfielder or an extra cheap striker. For me there is nobody I want in midfield under 7m. Fraser is an option but not for me with those fixtures. You can pick up Mitrovic and Jimenez for 0.5m-1.0m less. Auba is 0.5m more than Hazard (or he is for me). On conclusion is Auba worth 1m+ more than Hazard. I am not convinced. You can never tell when Hazard will haul and Auba's season stats are impossible to maintain given his XG. They also have similar scores this time round.

I have thought long about it. But ultimately I will go with Mitro+Hazard over Auba+Budget Mid.

Alonso and TAA at the back - so it is easily possible to have 2 heavy hitters up front and a balanced squad.

I have Kane-Wilson-Jimenez and wants to bring Laca or Auba in but I can not decide who to drop from Wilson and Jimenez. It is one of the toughest decisions of the season. On the other hand premium mids are not performing well (other than City ones). I brought in Snodgrass yesterday to fund Kane-Laca/Auba but not comfortable with that at all. Maybe optimum solution is dropping Wilson and covering him with Fraser as he is the only viable one in his price bracket.

I'm now on Kane, Auba and Jiminez. Midfield is fine with Sterling and Sane and you can fit 2 good mid priced mids, I currently have Richarlison and Martial. The trade off is in defence so looking to capitalise on some smart picks as I can't afford Robertson, Alonso etc.

People say sterling should be first name in WC team in theory I agree but practically it is not that easy ...I have hazard and don't want to lose him. Would also like Kane up front. Straight away loads of funds are taken...aarrgghhh 🙂

The issue there is that you’ve made Hazard the first name in your wildcard team.

Martial injury doesn't look good, who to swap out for 9.1ITB ? Need to do for a -4 as I've been stupid and not sorted a proper Xmas bench.
Other MFs: Sterling, Mane, Richarlison, (Diangana)
      Good old Xmas ay!

Maureen says it wasn't an injury but that he felt a tightness and was just taken off as a precaution, and might be OK for Fulham. Definitely worth keeping imo.

      Fabianski Hamer
      TAA Doherty Dunk AWB Schindler
      Sterling Son Fraser Anderson Richarlison
      Kane Aubameyang Wilson

      0.1 ITB

I have Rondon instead of Wilson and Sane instead of Sterling to upgrade a couple of defenders to Spurs and Arsenal, otherwise is identical to mine.

Yeah nice... defence is obviously the weak link but the fixtures seem to rotate really well throughout the squad

        I’d lose sterling for sane.

Do you have money invested in Wilson and Fraser both? I’d choose just one, unless you bought both cheap.

Beef up defence with the spare funds

      Bournemouth don’t have bad fixtures

Come Saturday they will have wol, BRI, WAT, WHM in their next 7 games

The game on Saturday - Liverpool have Napoli 3days later

Seems really odd people criticising... they’re not West Ham/spurs/arsenal/Tottenham level, fixtures.... but they’re certainly not bad imo, and certainly not bad enough to warrant overlooking a good attack.

        LIV (H) - hard
        wol (a) - hard
        BRI (H) - easy
        spurs (A) - hard
        united (A) - hard

Will be getting Fraser and Wilson when this is over

Need to look deeper than “easy/hard”

LIV (H) - Napoli must win 3 days later - key defenders unavailable, just conceded to Burnley
wol (a) - conceded 8 goals in last 4 home games, including Huddersfield
BRI (H) - brighton usually solid, but nice home game
spurs (A) - only kept one CS at home this season (Cardiff)
united (A) - absolute circus of a team

If you asked this a week ago I would say Wilson but after switching to 2 premium forwards (Kane+Laca/Auba), it makes sense to fill the 3rd FWD spot with a cheaper option like Jimenez, Rondon, Chica but there is no alternative to Fraser at that price bracket.

        A)

I’ve activated mine, because Arnie > Auba would’ve been a hit for me which seemed nonsensical if planning a GW17 WC. Also, few price rises twisted my arm last night...
