Scoutcast Episode 277 – Surviving

Two Gameweeks in the space of just a few days meant there were plenty of team sheet surprises for Fantasy managers this week.

Despite the likes of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah missing out on a starting berth for one match, the Scoutcast crew just about survived Gameweeks 14 and 15.

Harry Kane was the hero for Az, Luke and Joe, who handed the Spurs man the armband for a 24-point haul against Southampton on Wednesday.

But it was a mixed set of fixtures for Andy. He captained Sterling for an 18-point return against Bournemouth but was left heartbroken when the winger failed to take to the pitch against Watford on Tuesday.

The crew take stock of this week’s line-ups when weighing up their Gameweek 16 transfer and captaincy plans.

They also find time to consider an overhaul of their forward line ups, after it emerged that well-owned West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic is set for a spell on the sidelines through injury.

Bargain hunting among the ranks of Fulham, who have strong fixtures on the horizon, is also on the bill.

In addition, the crew ponder the lessons they’ve learned this season. A failure to invest more heavily in Manchester City’s potent attack haunts Joe, who had his own survival mission this edition as he battled through a cold.

Not worth thinking about. I'm giving him the armband.

He could be. Played a lot of mins latetly but they do have a week off next week so I think Laca and Aubam will both play.
For the record i'm bringing in Laca over Aubam

Who do we think are the most essential players to own over the festive period? I'm going to play my wildcard and I'm seeing City players in a lot of teams. Are people not worried about rotation?

City history, he was usually always the one to be benched or subbed earlier. Maybe that's changed.

Matching sterling for 2.2 mil less when he has played and with Mendy out can't see much difference bw the rotation of sane and sterling

Listen to the ScoutCast. Sterling is prone to rotation, but is the top leading scorer in the game. Rotation means nothing nowadays.

      Essentials: Sterling, Sane, Auba/Kane

there's something great about Sterling it's that he is very prone to cameos. he either play the full 90 or 0 min and this is very important for armband matters imo

flawed argument .In the 3 matches he had 0 mins hudders and burnley were smashings not needed and watford they were leading so didnt come on and laporte came on for defensive surity. It all depends on match situation. If city were down 2-1 in 65mins sterling would ofc come on .Its flawed

Enjoyed it. I think this is the best scoutcast we've had for a while though it was a bit short.

Joe's always a great host, the 'hindsight' discussion between Az and Andy was interesting and Luke's a breeze to have.

Alexis Sanchez has been paid over £12,000,000 since Lukaku last scored at OT. That said, if he doesn't score vs Fulham, he shouldn't be playing in the PL.

      1. Martial with a knock
      2. Rashford played a full 90
      3. Not sure Auba starts as my other captain choice
      4. Lukaku historically scores vs poor defenses.
      5. I know Man U's form has been pretty poor, but they will take care of business home vs Fulham.

PS. I am fully aware that this is risky and can make or break my GW, possibly my season.

Just finished watching the Scoutcast and am in the Az camp

Alonso & Arnie -->> Kolasinac & Lacazette (C) for my first -4 hit of the season.

Missing out on all the Aubam rises was a killer and am currently 2344 OR so should Aubameyang not play I think I can propel myself into the top 1k 🙂

Next week I can address Salah

Been a shocking week but the armband on Kane rescued some dignity. Have this set up for the weekend - any suggestions? would be for a hit......or just grin and bare....

    Cedric - Laporte - Bennett

Ive been thinking about Arnie + Alonso -> Trent and Laca (-4). Feels like it will instantly pay off this gameweek. Long term a bit more iffy given that it includes dropping Alonso, but Trent seems just as essential as him from a value point of view.

I think Alonso is another Chelsea thrashing away from getting dropped. As much as I love him as an FPL asset, he's looked horrendous recently.

Luiz is a soft target but he hasn't been as bad as Alonso from a defensive POV.

Heung Min Son left him and Jorginho for the dogs the other day but there wasn't much he could have done about it anyway.

Agreed. Sometimes you have to differentiate from reality and FPL. Alonso is actually quite poor defensively. Emerson waiting for his chance I guess.

So, the Arnie injury has put a spanner in my plans. My 1 FT was going to be Kane > Aubamayang and then Rich > Dilva the following week.
Should I still do this for a hit? Or leave Kane in?

I'm 0.1 short of doing the following for a (-8):

Arnie, Hazard, Alonso -> Kane, Fraser, VanDijk

Is it madness anyways or other suggestions for Alonso/Hazard downgrade possibilities?

I'd rather get Laca and Sterling with a cheap def or TAA.

Perez. Chica and Carroll to rotate, Perez ideal for second striker role

I am taking a 4 game punt on mitrovic after the utd game. Fulham aren't going to be relegated under ranieri and mitro goals are going to make that happen.

Idea is to have both in couple of weeks by downgrading Salah and Alonso but for this week who would be your pick?

Kane for the unpredictable hattricks & hauls

    Fraser & Wilson.

Avoid because of fixtures or too good to ignore because of form.

Or may be take the middle route and get 1 of them.

Don't have any assets from Bournemouth, city & Liverpool. Still surviving somehow in top 75k

      currently got 1

      think i'll stick with fraser

would rather have both but can't

I would get City/Spurs assets first

Fraser is great enabler but not needed at all

Wilson is another monster though, but I'm not convinced I'm getting too hurt by not owning him, plan to get him in GW21 when fixtures are better

I have auba+ Kane. For getting city assets I will have to sacrifice hazard which doesn't feel right.

1.Arnautovic and Alonso out for Lacazette and a 5.3 def

    2. Arnautovic and Robertson out for Lacazette and a 4.7 def

My def is Robertson Alonso Wan-Bissaka Dunk Doherty

    1. Alexis Nonsense
      • 8 Years
      5 years, 3 months ago

I would say get rid of Alonso in that case

But Alonso fixtures sre superb after City, and Robbo is best defender to keep long term imo

What about Arnie to Pea ? Got Salah ?

      1. Henning
        • 9 Years
        5 years, 3 months ago

        Fabianski Hamer

        Alonso Robertson Dunk Wan-Bissaka Doherty

        Sane Sterling Sigurdsson Fraser Felipe

        Kane Arnautovic Jimenez

Is it essential to own Kane this weekend? My situation finds me unable to buy him. I want to keep Salah for the Bournemouth game, so owning Kane this week is impossible, so if all goes well with price rises i’ll have 0.3 spare for Salah, Arnie > Sane, Kane next week.

Would you consider making these moves this GW for a -8 ? Or hold and make a -4 next GW?

I think we can get away with avoiding Kane. Other players will match is output for far cheaper
