Scoutcast Episode 277 – Surviving

Two Gameweeks in the space of just a few days meant there were plenty of team sheet surprises for Fantasy managers this week.

Despite the likes of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah missing out on a starting berth for one match, the Scoutcast crew just about survived Gameweeks 14 and 15.

Harry Kane was the hero for Az, Luke and Joe, who handed the Spurs man the armband for a 24-point haul against Southampton on Wednesday.

But it was a mixed set of fixtures for Andy. He captained Sterling for an 18-point return against Bournemouth but was left heartbroken when the winger failed to take to the pitch against Watford on Tuesday.

The crew take stock of this week’s line-ups when weighing up their Gameweek 16 transfer and captaincy plans.

They also find time to consider an overhaul of their forward line ups, after it emerged that well-owned West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic is set for a spell on the sidelines through injury.

Bargain hunting among the ranks of Fulham, who have strong fixtures on the horizon, is also on the bill.

In addition, the crew ponder the lessons they’ve learned this season. A failure to invest more heavily in Manchester City’s potent attack haunts Joe, who had his own survival mission this edition as he battled through a cold.

GTG? Son on the bench might be the risk but I do think he has a high chance of being benched this week before the Barcelona game.

      Ryan
      Alonso Robertson Balbuena
      Sterling Sane Richarlison Fraser
      Kane (c) Wilson Mitrovic

      Hamer Son Doherty AWB

Came back from injury, il make u a list:

        1) 1.6m cheaper
        2) on penalties
        3) favoured as a #9 when played together (forces auba outwide)
        4) was first choice until his injury in which hes just recovered
        5) auba played lots, laca doesnt need a rest
        6) scored twice from coming off the bench

        1. RustyBz
          • 9 Years
          5 years, 3 months ago

          1) true
          2) is he? pretty sure Auba takes them when both on the pitch
          3) true
          4) that was before Auba started smashing them in
          5) true
          6) one. the other was an OG

Just think it's a huge punt to take him as (C)

          1. KingOllie
            • 8 Years
            5 years, 3 months ago

They share the penalties, theres no first choice taker.

If you watched the game vs Utd.. Auba looked more threatening after Laca came on. Lacas movement makes space for Auba. Which is why we will see Laca #9 and Auba as LW

To clarify the penalty situation - both Lacazette and Aubameyang have taken a penalty last season when both were on the pitch. I'd say we can't be sure who is no. 1, and I wouldn't even be surprised if they share spot-kick duties at times.

I’d be on 851pts if I’d stuck with my starting 11 and just flipped the armband between salah and Kun. All the tinkering and weekly change headache and I’m only on 899 anyway!!

Luck with captaincy choices is one of the most important factors in fpl success. I have captained hazard 4 times but he hasn't delivered double digit returns in 3 of them. He scored 20 and 14 point hauls when I didn't make him the captain.

So just concentrate more on the captaincy side and leave the rest to luck. You aren't doing too shabbily.

        A) Salah & Arnie --> Eriksen & Aubameyang (C)

If I do Arnir to Laca I only have 5.2 for a DF so Kolasinac seems the best punt presently. Can always bring Alonso back in a couple of GW's once I downgrade Salah

He really is. If i go Aubam in for Arnie I need to free up 3.5m so Salah is the only one I can downgrade and have no way of getting Sterling in.
At least I don't really need Sterling this week away to Che so can play Salah v Bou before parting ways

Is anyone considering taking out Kane this week for Auba who will be the popular captain choice and then bringing in Kane back at home to Burnley? then repeating the process again. I know it wastes a transfer but could pay off handsomely over the next few weeks. Its handy for those who cant afford both at the moment.

My 2 other strikers are Wilson and Jimenez so dont really want to lose them especially for a hit

Yeah, I'll be seeing what Emery has to say in his presser 1st but will also have Salah as VC if I decide to bring him in.

Keep a misfiring Alonso or free up a bit of cash on my wildcard and go with Laporte for Man City Coverage

3 of Chelsea's next 4 games are away from home after City and Alonso has been awful the last 2 weeks hence the consideration to cash in

7.1million for 3rd highest scoring player in the game.
Are you sure this is sound advice? I'm not.

Don't reckon he's essential even when he's fit again to be honest

Initial indications suggest the 21-year-old is facing a spell of up to six weeks out of action, though this is dependent on how his treatment and rehabilitation programmes progress.
