Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur options are likely to be the first port of call for the captaincy in Gameweek 17.

Both sides have favourable home fixtures to look forward to, with the defending champions hosting an Everton side with just one clean sheet on the road this season.

Predicting the Pep Guardiola roulette will as ever complicate matters with Raheem Sterling (£11.5m) and Leroy Sané (£9.5m) perhaps the most likely to start.

Riyad Mahrez (£8.5m), who has three goals and two assists in his last five starts, stands an outside chance of inclusion, while a return to full fitness of Sergio Aguero (£11.2m) would make him a strong candidate too.

No player has had more shots in the box in home matches this season than the Argentinian striker.

Spurs options are sure to be considered this week as they host a Burnley side that has been defensively troubled this season.

The Clarets remain bottom of the league for goal attempts and shots in the box allowed meaning that Harry Kane (£12.5m) will have plenty of opportunities to score at Wembley.

With his Gameweek 16 rest out of the way, the talismanic striker should be in line to start against Burnley, although Fantasy managers were fairly assured he would feature from the beginning at Leicester.

In his place at the King Power Stadium was Son Heung-min (£8.5m), whose 14-point haul took his average since Gameweek 13 to 8.75 points per game.

Christian Eriksen (£9.3m) may also get a look in if he looks as if he will return to the starting line-up. The injury problems for Kieran Trippier continue to play into the Danish international’s hands as he looks to have reclaimed set-piece responsibilities.

It will be interesting to see if Mohamed Salah‘s (£13.0m) hat-trick against Bournemouth will influence his backing this week. Liverpool host Manchester United, who typically try a defensive style of play when they visit Anfield with Jose Mourinho in charge, but the Red Devils have just two clean sheets this season.

That defensive vulnerability could lead to owners of Sadio Mané (£9.7m), Xherdan Shaqiri (£7.1m) or Roberto Firmino (£9.2m) considering them for the captaincy too.

Those who have still held onto Eden Hazard (£10.9m) may also be looking at him for Chelsea’s trip to Brighton. The Belgian has consistently returned points in the last three Gameweeks, a total of 20 in his last three matches from four assists.

Arsenal’s trip to Southampton could also yield some options with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.5m) and Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m) the most likely to take advantage of the Saints.

    With D.Silva out for 2 weeks, that's B.Silva nailed right? Richarlison to B.Silva for 2GW's? For 1FT

      Good move.
I was Also contemplating it but already have sane+Sterling so not keen on it.

I'd have the triple up of Sterling/Sane/B.Silva, hoping they want to prove a point after loosing vs Chelsea

Ooo that definitely gives you better squad depth, I also own Laca and am willing to give him 2 more GW's but in the long-run those moves look wise, like the look of Chica

nobody seems to think so, they will be surprised. Dilva is their genius, the one who makes them tick. They will still win but they will struggle a little bit more. Not sure double up is wise, but time will tell

I've gone for Bilva in a triple up with Sterling and Sane. Despite their loss I just have more confidence in them to maintain their goalscoring through the punishing Christmas and new year schedule. I'm not sure if I would switch from Rich to Bilva but I think he should be a reliable option

Silva out makes Sterling, Sane and Mahrez all options right? Likely start Mahrez in the Silva role with Sterling and Sane wide?

I currently have Sane and I can do Salah > Sterling this week. Very tempting if we know Sterling will be starting...

IMO, no one else worth downgrading with a mid-field of Sterling, Sane, Hazard, Richarilson, and J. Murphy.

        J. Murphy to Snodgrass may be my best move with exact funds.

    Wilson --> Aguero

Any suggestions for a decent replacement for Stephens?

Also considering maybe Sterling or Eriksen for Sane. Thoughts?

So in the last two weeks I've had Arnautovic, Mane, Dilva, Gomez and now Zaha and Yedlin suspended.

    This is *not* going well...

    GKP: Foster (Patrício)
DEF: Laporte, Doherty, Robertson, Wan-Bissaka (Balbuena)
MID: Schürrle, Sigurdsson, Hazard (Kenedy) (Martial)
FWD: Wilson, Aubameyang (V), Kane (C)

    1FT, 1.2 IDb

If no other issues, Siggy to Anderson is a no-brainer?
