Crucial Champions League action has huge FPL implications

Tonight’s Champions League matches could have a huge impact on the Fantasy Premier League 2018/19 landscape.

Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, whose assets have been popular this season, are in action in the European competition.

Qualification to the knockout stages is on the line, with neither club assured of their fate.

Liverpool must beat Napoli to stand any chance of progressing, and may also have to rely on results elsewhere.

If Red Star Belgrade beat PSG then a victory of any sort will suffice, but if the French side are victorious then Liverpool must either win 1-0 or by two clear goals.

A one-goal margin of victory will not be enough if Napoli score.

Meanwhile, Spurs need to match Inter Milan’s result against PSV to secure passage to the next round.

That is not something to be assured of given that Mauricio Pochettino’s men are facing Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

At this stage, either one of Liverpool or Tottenham could end up in the Europa League or be eliminated from continental competitions altogether.

Either scenario would have a big impact on Fantasy. Europa League fixtures would mean a greater concentration of Sunday matches, especially pertinent for those playing the Sky Sports game.

Furthermore, either one of those clubs being knocked out altogether would potentially heighten the appeal of their Fantasy options with fewer fixtures to fulfil in 2019.

      He was dropping deep to get the ball. Didnt have a lot of chances and services. Seems reminiscent of majority of his performances this season. I know this is Barca, but his movement still feels lagged and heavy.

    Earlier in the season 1/2 of all Salah owners sold their position...NO CHANGE...until a temporary dip to 12.9

    I want my 0.1 back for Martial, this is rubbish

      Couple of options imo, although could also depend if you’re scrambling to try to jam salah back in or not (I’m not yet personally)

      I would like both.
      And make a double up of both with Alonso and Robbo. Have 3 finding it hard to afford Luiz too. Pool fixtures might be difficult but they keep getting CS I am happy to hold both TAA and Robbo. I like the Luiz option but don't think I would lose TAA to get him.

                I don't NEED any of that. If it doesn't fit into my team without taking hits, I'm fine. Lukaku out to a cheaper FWD this week means I can grab a more expensive mid next week.

            Not trying to stir the pot, but just looking at your season so far it feels from the outside like you might have been delaying and delaying the WC when you could have been a bit more proactive to try and shoot up the rankings. You're not in a bad place, but not using WC and not taking any hits tends to let most teams become a bit stale.

            That said, you're coming off 95 points so I completely understand why you're reluctant to use it this GW. I would just suggest being open to using it in the next one or two GW though as there are a lot of fixture swings happening and you should be able to take advantage.
