Captains

Vote in the Captain Poll for Gameweek 22

Mohamed Salah (£13.3m), Eden Hazard (£11.1m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.4m) could be set to do battle for the Gameweek 22 captaincy this week.

You can now vote in the poll below, or in the sidebar, as well as watch our latest captain video on YouTube.

Liverpool travel to Brighton in the hope of getting their title challenge back to winning ways after losing to Manchester City last time out.

In spite of a blank at the Etihad Stadium, only Son Heung-min (£8.8m) has better form than Salah right now, according to the official FPL site.

The Egyptian has three double-figure hauls in his last four Premier League outings, four goals and two assists in his last four away matches.

With Liverpool still in exciting goal-scoring form, Salah’s colleague Roberto Firmino (£9.2m) may also be looked at, with four goals in his last two matches.

However, Hazard should provide stronger competition for Salah, as Chelsea host a Newcastle side still allowing plenty of chances to their opponents.

The Belgian may have blanked in his last two matches and be without a league goal at Stamford Bridge since Gameweek 7, but his underlying data still looks promising, as Fantasy Football Scout members found out recently.

Also providing a compelling case for the captaincy is Arsenal striker Aubameyang, with goals in three of his last four matches.

Meanwhile, West Ham are still without a clean sheet at home since Gameweek 6, when they frustrated Chelsea in a 0-0 draw. Since then, they have conceded 1.88 goals per match at the London Stadium.

Elsewhere, recent high-performing assets at Spurs and Manchester United may be discounted based on the fact that the two sides go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City options have underwhelmed in recent weeks and they may end up going under the radar once again in Gameweek 22 as Wolves come to the Etihad Stadium.

The newly-promoted side has already frustrated Pep Guardiola’s men once this season, in the 1-1 draw at Molineux back in Gameweek 3. Wolves are also building a reputation for being more defensively sound away from home than in front of their own fans. The only sides to have conceded fewer goals on the road than Wolves this season are Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City themselves.

You can downgrade your 8th attacker IMO to put more cash in starting 11.

Congrats Marlen Rattiner in overtaking me in the live Hall of Fame in the latest update!
After being 1st in the Hall of Fame over Christmas I am now down to 3rd, also well played Sean Tobin.

This is a really competitive field of players and a lot of good managers are chasing, but I will do my very best to get back up top.

Thanks to FFS for a lot of good articles over the years and an excellent members area.
Both new and old moderators and contributors deserve big thanks from me, you have helped a lot!

I am not the most active person on this forum, and have just started using Twitter, but I will try to become more active in the FPL community.

He just doesn't seem as involved as rashford re the eye test and the stats back that up too. True re Jiminez and im sure he'll be good value, so could look at juggling premiums around and ditching auba, martial for haz and rash too.

i would cut martial but keep jimenez, fixtures are good after this week, rashford's starting minutes might get reduced and fraser does not have good fixture until march, as 1314 said pereyra for martial might be all needed (or richarlison if you can get him).
really like the back line, good 2gk combo and solid back 5 players for rotating with fixtures

    Would you rather have:

    A) Salah and Richarlison

    Or

    B) Hazard and Sane?

Keeping Kane and Auba up front. Initial thoughts are B may be better but scared to go without Salah any longer.

Hmm, but then you’re getting a major prize without actually winning anything. I’m not sure a mediocre team that gets lucky draws and then gets massacred in the final should be representing the country in the Champions League.

Lets be honest, VVD isn't injured. Seems a bit too much of a coincidence that after playing every game, he suddenly misses the Wolves game with an injury. He was rested. Pretty sure of that.

1ft, save and get Salah for Son next week a good idea, or do you have any other ideas?
Who should leave for Salah? Hazard or Auba or Kane?
    Worried about Ings aswell....

    Fabianski
    AWB Digne Robby TAA
    Hazard (C) Son Sane Martial
    Kane Auba
    ...Button Ings* Gunnarsson Bennett

Best Lovren replacement? With a hammy injury, I assume he's going to be out for a couple of weeks.
    A) Shaw
    B) Lindelof
    C) Cheeky punt on Morrison
    D) Other?

Only got 4.9 to spend & rest of defense looks like this:
    TAA - D. Luiz - Digne - Bednarek

Palace have decent fixtures, not the worst getting AWB for rotation and allows funds to be used elsewhere

Wolves the better team, but really, if you play the Trinity of Mignolet, Lovren and Moreno, there could only be one result.

On a wildcard but realised probably was a week too early to do it as some players i want in my Longer Term team have better fixtures or will be fitter as of next week...doherty, rash, pog, Kdb, Kane

    Do i:
    a) go with the best long term team including these players who are imo who i want for the following 5-6 gameweeks and hope they do well this gw
    b) find a few alternatives with great fixtures this gameweek and then try to get the above players i want in as of next week and so forth.

Ur making long term assumptions that such players will be in form or not injured. Pogba coudlnlaoe his form and is kdb back for sure? Set up your team for now not what u hope might work

im not thinking about form, im thinking about fixtures, united and spurs fixtures become good as of next week so should i just bring them in now since i've wildcarded?

If you’re on WC it should set you up for at least the next 5/6 weeks otherwise wrong time to use it

I think you're better off not planning transfers so you can be more flexible with them in the next few weeks. Of the 5 you mentioned, you can just get Sane over KDB (I'd even say this long term) and the other 4 are good enough for this week easily

      1. joeydelucchi
        • 7 Years
        5 years, 3 months ago

so go with spurs and utd players i want, as well as doherty instead of pereira (if thats who i think will be better over the next 5-6 weeks)

    4. Eze Really?
      • 9 Years

      DON"T do a 1 week WC punt.
Pick your team for a little bit of future at least.
I have all the players bar KDB and he is firmly on my watchlist.
Beacuse Mn U are playing Spurs maybe use next week to get in a Man U player instead of now.

thanks that was what i originally had...then i convinced myself becasue auba will probably do better this week and hazard that i lost kane and pogba...but i wanted kane and Pogba tbh...thats when i confused myself which way i should be looking at this...choose my faves vs best fixtures long term vs best fixtures next 2-3 etc ...this is soo hard! haha

I have him and I am keeping him. He will be fit next GW apparently (not in time for this weekend). I think he will be great once fit again, especially as they are selling Gab according to the BBC rumours site. Even though he is not the main competition for that spot, Charlie is, it will mean less competition overall. Fixtures and form before injury plus an attack minded manager. I think he will be great

Point taken but you get what you pay for. He is 5.6m. If he doesn't make returns in a few weeks I will elsewhere. Transfers should have happened by then. Barnes is another option at that price point too in a Burnley team refinding form and with a not bad set of fixtures coming up

      I may capt Auba.

BRI have conceded 17 shots on target and only two big chances over the last four, while WHU have conceded 21 shots on target and conceded the third most big chances (14) over the last four. WHU opposition from the last four were not exactly known for their attack threat either which makes these stats even more worrisome for WHU's defense.

I agree and will change this about 50 times before the deadline. My current thinking is that after 2 big defeats, Klopp will want to bounce back with an emphatic win to keep the pressure on for the title.

Hazard is the last one I would captain of the big hitters. Not as effective on the wing, inconsistent and Morata drains the team of attacking threat
