Aguero on the bench as Sterling and Sane start on the flanks for City

Manchester City take on Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening in the final match of Gameweek 22, with kick-off at the Etihad at 20:00 GMT.

Sergio Aguero has recovered from the illness that forced him to miss the 7-0 and 9-0 wins over Rotherham United and Burton Albion respectively but the Argentinean striker is only named among the substitutes this evening, as Gabriel Jesus gets the nod to lead the line.

Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane will be flanking the Brazilian tonight, while City’s midfield three of Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Fernandinho remains unchanged from the victory over Liverpool – meaning Kevin De Bruyne has to be content with a place on the bench.

Danilo gets the nod at left-back despite Fabian Delph‘s return from a three-match ban.

Nuno Espirito Santo has made two changes from the strong starting XI that defeated Liverpool in the FA Cup last Monday, with Matt Doherty and Rui Patricio replacing Ruben Vinagre and John Ruddy.

Diogo Jota is once again paired with Raul Jimenez in attack, with Joao Moutinho being deployed as the “number ten” behind Wolves’ strike pair.

Leander Dendoncker gets only his second league start of the season in central midfield.

The reverse fixture of this match ended 1-1, with Aymeric Laporte‘s header cancelling out a controversial opening goal from Willy Boly back in August.

Aguero was the fifth-most-captained FPL asset of Gameweek 22, while four Wolves’ players – Doherty, Patricio, Jimenez and Ryan Bennett – are among the nine most-benched Fantasy assets of this round of fixtures.

Sterling hasn’t scored more than six FPL points in a single game since Gameweek 14 but his season-long average of 7.1 points per match is second only to Mohamed Salah among FPL midfielders.

City are the only Premier League club without a clean sheet since the start of December, while Wolves haven’t kept a shut-out on the road since Gameweek 8.

Manchester City XI (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Danilo; Fernandinho, Silva, Bernardo; Sane, Sterling, Jesus.

Wolverhampton Wanderers XI (3-4-1-2): Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Jonny, Dendoncker, Neves, Doherty; Moutinho; Jimenez, Jota.

Which teams likely to suffer rotation over the next few GWs because of CL, Europa, Milk cup and FA cup?

Any players particularly prone other than City mids & Aguero/Jesus?

Likes Salah, Hazzo, Poggy are pretty much nailed right?

      Auba, Firmino, Robertson?

City players only in general, a few like Robbo may get a rest though

It’s the potential double gameweek in 25 that will stir things up 😉

    I'm considering a bold-ish move.
    Kane > Rondon. 1 FT.
The idea is, Rondon will play GW 23 (CAR) and GW 27 (HUD) for me, and sleep through his tough fixtures in between. I have Jimenez and Rashford.

GW 27 is a small blank GW so Rondon will come in handy.

This means I will have £7+ not used for GW 23. But using it on Hazard/Sane/Sterling for -4 all could backfire for various reasons. So maybe just keep the money and see.

5.7 on the bench most weeks though. May as well make a transfer or two if you need to for GW27?

Get Pogbaaaa. I'm gonna try and bench Sterling and Sane that week probably. Was toying with the idea of buying KDB and benching all three. No point avoiding them if you can bench them imo, but bear in mind the other teams that might blank. We'll find out for sure after this GW

Hazard should be doing well against Arsenal. Arsenal wont be just sitting deep and defend which is better for Hazard though in this case it wont be much of a problem if Arsenal drops deep. + Kane injury affecting also.

Haz was a goner for me [captained him the last two weeks 🙁 ]

But Kane injury has changed that.

Kane out now instead to Salah. And may as well keep Haz as he'll still score well but I won't be captaining him anytime soon, so he can't troll me anymore

Already done Kane>Rash, as if Kane's ankle is too swollen to even have a scan, then he's out this weekend for sure. And in truth, we're likely talking one month minimum.

I'm committed to taking a -8 this week to get in Salah.

Got a few routes I might take, was wondering which one you think is best?

    A] Alonso > Shaw
    Martial > Salah
[Leaves me with 1.5mil in the bank]

    B] Alonso > VVD [0.1 short of Robbo & I own TAA]
    Siggy > Salah

    ---------------Fab
    ---Alonso - TAA - Digne
    Haz - Sane - Martial - Pog - Siggy
    ------Rash - Jiminez

Bench: Bennett - AWB - Kamara

    Case for Rashford.

    - Great form: 5 goals 6 assists in last 9 pl matches
    - Great fixtures: (BHA BUR lei ful) in next 4
    - Bargain Price of 7.4m
    - Playing as main striker for an attacking manutd side

Is there any reason not to get Rashford? (Yes i think he's better Kane replacement than Kun/Firmino/Auba)

People now going with a power 5 midfield will have to settle with a non playing 3rd striker if spending < 5m, else will have to spend 5m+ if looking to get a fodder who plays.

I still think a 5th midfielder being a fodder would help invest more money elsewhere.

    Thoughts?

Presuming Kane is going to miss a couple of GW's which is looking certain.

    a) Kane -> Rashford (-4)
    b) Kane -> Firmino (-4)
    C) Kane + Kamara -> Firmino + Rashford (-8). Leaves 0.7m to upgrade Holebas to TAA next GW.

    Fabianski.
    Doherty, Digne, Bednarek, Holebas.
    Salah, Pogba, Sane, Rich.
    Kane, Auba.
    Hamer, Camarasa, AWB, Kamara.

    Which is better? 1FT

    A) Kane>Kun
    B) Kane+Kenedy> Rashford+Sane (-4)

Jesus doing well and Aguero just back from injury, would it be wise to get Kun and Captain him? If I do B, I will have to bench one of Rondon/Deulofeu despite them having great fixtures.

I personally don't think gw27 will be much of an issue.

People with 3 of Richarlison/Sane/Sterling/Spurs attack/Hazard can be benched
      AND
Digne to Pereira / Alonso to Liverpool defense will be a very popular move anyway.

Free Hit could be well used in GW33 blank also.
3 Pool players are already a given for GW31. Most already own 2 and getting a 3rd right now isn’t a bad idea.

Even with three Liverpool players there's a very good chance that the teams playing that day will be dross FPL wise, you might be lucky to have 6/7/8 playing

I see here there's no interest for Llorente?

With Kane and Son out, I think he's pretty much nailed, also a handy cheap differential for the next few weeks.

Anyway there are hardly any good differentials left with almost every player being very highly owned by a certain part of the overall players.

Anyone fancying a punt on Aguero ? (yes really rare saying this)

If he starts was huddersfeild i think he could be massive captain differential.

He has returned points in all 3 starts in pl since returning from injury.he didnt play against wolves due to ilness

Surely Jesus now with 7g in 3 games will be an issue?

If you're getting Kun in just fir the next 2 games for captaincy, I think you'd rather captain Salah and fancy a punt on some other striker as a differential?
      Llorente? Firmino?

Have equally good fixtures and probably more nailed I'd say, playing gw27 as well(if Spurs lose to Chelsea).

Also if Salah goes mad (which he easily can with those home fixtures) and Kun blanks/comes on for a 1 pointer, it'll be the end.

Fair enough. But risk vs reward mate. Thats why he's considered a punt for the very brave.

Im looking at him as he's currently the only way for me to get a city attacker.
May as well follow the herd and play safe with rashford/firmino. But owning kun excites me due to explosive points potential 😉

Just minutes would be my concern. Even if Kun does start over Jesus, there’s the possibility of an early switch just ‘cos Pep is gonna Pep.

So we’re back to the discussion of whether 60 minutes of Aguero is enough to (C) - which I don’t like personally.

    Fab, Steele
    Alonso*, TAA, Digne, Doherty, AWB
    Hazard*, Son*, Pogba, Siggy*, FAnderson
    Kane Rashford Kamara

    A) Alonso + Son + Siggy > Bednarek + Salah + Punch (-4)
(Leaves me 2.5m ITB to do Kamara > Wilson if he goes Chelsea or FAnderson > Sane/KDB)

    B) Alonso + Son + Hazard > 5.0M Def + Salah + Sane (-4)

Morning dzz, assuming Kane is out, which option would you suggest? have 2ft, 2.7m and a long list of changes i want to make

      Fabianski -- Button
Digne Holebas Doherty -- Alonso (ars) schindler
      Son Hazard Anderson Pogba Rich
      Jimenez Kane -- Kamara

A: Son + Kane >> Salah + Rashford + 3m...can use that to upgrade Anderson >> Eriken/Mane/Sane/KDB/Alli in gw24. ideally would like one of auba/kun but not sure how sigh! Also, benching alonso is asking for trouble

      B: Alonso + Son + Kane >> TAA + Salah + Aguero (-4)....means no rashford but i get a big hitter in Augero. can look to do anderson/kamara >> puncheon/Rashford (-4) in gw24

      C: something else?
