Has Salah finally shaken off his bonus points repellant?

Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) might have finally shaken off his aversion to bonus points this season as his Fantasy Premier League form continues to impress.

The Egyptian has recorded ten additional points through bonus in the last seven matches, which is 83% of his total for this year. If he continues at this rate, he could eclipse his tally for last season.

In the 2017/18 campaign, Salah broke the all-time FPL total score for a season but still only managed to add 26 bonus points.

A high number of off-target shots and offsides, as well as the fact that he was tackled fairly often, were all contributing factors to Salah dropping down the bonus points charts.

However, Liverpool’s number one attacker seems to have made improvements in all of those areas in recent weeks, to the extent that he has been averaging 1.43 bonus points per match since Gameweek 16.

In fact, Salah’s 11-point haul against Brighton in Gameweek 22 was the first match in which he has produced only one goal and earned bonus.

It was, of course, a match-winning goal, which does raise bonus points, but he has scored in two 1-0 wins before the one at the Amex Stadium and earned no bonus in either of them.

Prior to that, Salah has had to score another or provide an assist to put himself into consideration for the extra points on offer.

So that means something must have changed in his underlying statistics to endear him to the bonus points system (BPS) more than last season. Fantasy Football Scout members can read on and see more of our analysis…

Nice team. You're good to go. I'm happy in a way mine isn't so strong so that i don't have to consider benching Alonso!

I've been on it since last summer. It takes some time to get used to (it's definitely not as similar to FPL as one might imagine) so I'd recommend starting out by investing an amount that you can afford to lose & playing around with that to learn the game & its basic principles. Personally I started out with a £100 deposit in June, portfolio is currently worth £160 (it's really just a bit of fun for me, but others have tens of thousands invested). The forums on the site are the best place for picking up useful info I feel.

So I assume that it works like the stockmarket. So if you have experience in stocks and fantasy it shouldn't be too bad to master?

I think a lot of the more successful traders on there also play the stock market, and a hell of a lot play FPL. I have zero stock market experience, funnily enough one of the reasons I signed up was to try and teach myself something about trading in an area I feel fairly comfortable with in case I ever decide to look at the stock market.

Thanks for the information, sounds like something I could be interested in.
Could start with funds if you want to invest in the markets without requiring loads of knowledge/research and less risk.

Interesting. It's basically a long term goal though right? Invest in young up and coming players and hope they turn into stars?

I've a huge interest in football in general, along with FPL + i enjoy an odd bet as well so seems like i would enjoy Football Index.

It would just be fun for me as well, but with a hope of making some money obviously. But if I lose, I lose. The people investing tens of thousands are mad. The site could go bust or anything and then they would be in bother.

Yeah, there are various ways to make money. One is obviously through the long-term strategy you've mentioned (for instance Sancho has skyrocketed even in the short time I've been on there). But also there are dividend payouts on performance (a bit like opta stats for any given matchday) and media buzz - the dividends are pennies, but if you have several shares in a winner it adds up. Performance winners are hard to predict, media much less so - the likes of Pogba, Salah, Ronaldo, Neymar are usually the winners most of the time.

Already done Son to Moura & DCL to Rashford for a hit (-4)

With no Liverpool defence, is Kepa to Allison worth a further hit? (- 8)

I’ve dropped 300th before Xmas to 32k now. So maybe not in the best form myself 😉

I just see city destroying Huddersfield and the scoutcast post made about Wagners pressing made me even more confident.

I got Salah this week purely to stop the rot, but think he’s overperforming thanks to penalties.

              Last 4 (h) games

Goals Scored: Firmino 3 Salah 2

Total Shots: Firmino 18 Salah 8

Shots In the Box: Firmino 14 Salah 4

Shots on Target: Firmino 8 Salah 3

              xG: Firmino 2.98 Salah 1.97

But like I said I’m still (c) Salah of course!

Go for it - I really think he will outscore Salah this GW. Of course this sounds hypocritical from a guy who just bought Salah and ignored City mids after the Kane injury, but I made the move for more than this GW of course.

He's played well and has passed the eye test of late... Plus the fact he hasn't scored means he's due.

Plus palace are much better defensively than huddersfield.

Huddersfield game has mauling written all over it.

Liverpool haven't looked as Gung ho this season (other than west ham how many games this season have they scored 4) Salah has had PK to fall on also lately.

Agreed. However, HUD over the last four has conceded 18 chances on their right flank vs 7 chances conceded on their left flank. Sane is your man for the arm band this week for MCI.

With City a chance created on the left side means a Sane cut back to Sterling. Get in!!

Is Moura and Lamela double up insane?

I'm not sure if I've completely lost the plot, or it could be gold.

Having both seems no riskier than having one, especially if you have a full playing bench? (Ings first sub)

Doing Alonso to Robbo for -4.
Think he’ll easily repay and even score more points over the next 4 weeks.

He’s hurt me enough and I can’t go without a Pool def for those fixtures.

      No.

Chelsea fixtures also nice. Arsenal, Bournemouth and Hudds.

LFC defence is somewhat depleted and may not live up to seasons standard thus far.

I don’t think so. Although Chelsea haven’t had the cutting edge going forward, they’ve been a rock defensively.

Arsenal looked as lacklustre v WHU.

Also Bournemouth?? They aren’t half the side they were at the start of he season. Whipping boys these days.

Arsenal haven't blanked at home since GW1.
Bournemouth always carry a goal threat no matter how many they concede.

Pool have 3 (CRY, LEI, BOU) home games in the next 4.
They keep clean sheets for fun this season and Robbo creates more chances than Alonso and he’s also way better for bonus.

Chelsea’s defence has been exposed many times this season agreed they have been good also but not consistent. With 3 away games in the next 4against attacking sides like Arsenal, Bou & City im not sure about clean sheets.

What do you think about this WC team? My thinking is to have a strong player first on bench due to owning both Sané and Sterling, since one or the other could be benched every other week. 0.0 ITB

    Lloris
Doherty - Robertson - van Dijk - Shaw
    Salah - Sterling - Sané - Pogba - Lamela
    Rashford

    (Button, Jiménez, Jonny, Long)
