Has Salah finally shaken off his bonus points repellant?

Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) might have finally shaken off his aversion to bonus points this season as his Fantasy Premier League form continues to impress.

The Egyptian has recorded ten additional points through bonus in the last seven matches, which is 83% of his total for this year. If he continues at this rate, he could eclipse his tally for last season.

In the 2017/18 campaign, Salah broke the all-time FPL total score for a season but still only managed to add 26 bonus points.

A high number of off-target shots and offsides, as well as the fact that he was tackled fairly often, were all contributing factors to Salah dropping down the bonus points charts.

However, Liverpool’s number one attacker seems to have made improvements in all of those areas in recent weeks, to the extent that he has been averaging 1.43 bonus points per match since Gameweek 16.

In fact, Salah’s 11-point haul against Brighton in Gameweek 22 was the first match in which he has produced only one goal and earned bonus.

It was, of course, a match-winning goal, which does raise bonus points, but he has scored in two 1-0 wins before the one at the Amex Stadium and earned no bonus in either of them.

Prior to that, Salah has had to score another or provide an assist to put himself into consideration for the extra points on offer.

So that means something must have changed in his underlying statistics to endear him to the bonus points system (BPS) more than last season. Fantasy Football Scout members can read on and see more of our analysis…

Already have -4 but consider doing wildcard to further make transfers (and remove hit)

    Peltier + Anderson + Aguero -> Lindelof + Sane + Wilson

    Team is:
    Alisson
    Robertson Keane Bennet (AWB Peltier)
    Salah Hazard Pogba Anderson Richarlison
    Aguero Rashford Jimenez

I dont think those moves are urgent. You have City cover w Kun...but, if youre feeling like a WC is necessary then....by all means.

    a) Jimenez > Auba
    b) TAA > VVD (bench Digne)
    c) Guaita > DDG
    d) Rich > Sterling
    e) TAA & Rich > VVD & Sane/KDB (-4)

Little bit of advice needed please,
    My Team is currently:

    Fab
    Digne Bennett TAA* (AWB, Schindler)

    Salah(C) Martial Eriksen Camarasa (Mili)

    Auba Firmino Rashford

I did Hazard to Salah before the Kane and TAA injuries
Then Did Kane to Firmino for a -4

I need to get TAA out but contemplating whether its worth doing it now for -8 (to Shaw or Robertson)

Or leaving it to next week and playing Schindler or AWB in def

I plan to get in Lamela, Moura or Mane (or 2 out of the 3 next week) for Martial, Mili or Camarasa I have 3.9m in the bank currently.

Is it worth doing the TAA deal this week for a -8 hit? It will be my first hits in over 4-5 weeks.

    Thanks

    1. how now brown cow
      • 9 Years

There's no such thing as cover.

Bench boost is overrated. You might get 20 points if really lucky.

      • 7 Years
      5 years, 3 months ago

well he's a city player. whether you think he is as explosive points-potential-wise as sane, sterling, kun is another question. I wouldn't be very comfortable if he was my only city attacker as he is far from nailed when all their players are fit, but if he's all you can afford he looks one of the best options at that price point, or if you're looking for a cheaper city attack double up

I'm sorry David, but almost every "paragraph" of this article is a facepalm moment. I don't know where to start, so I'm not going to bother (much to everybody' relief, I suspect 😆 ). You don't even answer the question you set yourself.

Can I suggest laying out a structure for the article first, and then filling in the details. Restructuring if you find out important new imformation as you go, rather than placing vaguely linked facts next to each other on a page.

Perhaps try the "PEE" method of Point, Evidence, Explanation, or variations of that.

I like the idea for the article, but it reads like it's all in the headline - the conclusion set before we start, and then the gaps are filled in with the minumal effort to actually build a cohesive story or develop any points. It's just "content"; it doesn't feel like we learn anything remotely useful.

From listening to David on the Scoutcast, I know that he's more than capable of rationale thought and building a good case. I just feel like he waters down the articles, and perhaps rushes them out due to time pressures.

FFS can take or leave my feedback, but I'm not shy to voice my opinion because I'm a customer, and David gets paid for this. Anyway, peace out.

That's an interesting point, Numb. I forgot all people paid to write are immune from criticism and have no room for improvement regarding style, statistical anaylsis, argumentation, errors, communicative ability, etc etc. As I said, FFS can take or leave my feedback. (Probably won't even see it anyway)

I see where you're coming from, but I doubt that David is unaware that he can do better. I feel a little insulted by this content being published in the first place.

It's clear nowadays that the most important thing for FFS is the clicks, comments a refreshes, rather than the community and quality of the content.

I typically only skim through articles now, if I even read them at all, because I no longer believe in the FFS brand when it comes to the writing (which is the "core" of company, according to Mark).

To publicly voice my opinion is a way to try to communicate that disappointment effectively. If I write a personal letter to the Prime Minister, she is unlikely to aqueous to my request to change her ways. Public is best, but sure I could be more sensitive about it.

I said sorry when I started, and I'll apologise to David again for being so curt. It's only because I believe FFS and he can do better that I say anything in the first place. That style of journalism really doesn't sit well with me, and I personally thing it doesn't suit the goals of the site (or my goals in visiting it). And the actual substance, in my opinion, is lacking to the point that I'm annoyed I had faith in the article to begin with.

You won't get any more time out of me with your one liners, Numb 😉 Cheers

3300 overall. Was planning on rolling a FT up until Kanes injury. What to do now?

    Alisson
    Digne - Robertson - Doherty
    Salah - Richarlison - Pogba - Hazard
    Kane - Jimenez - Rashford

    Bench: Button, Camarasa, Bissaka, Yoshida.

    1FT and 0.1M ITB.

Thinking Kane to Auba as the most realistic transfer here.. Surely some goals in Arsenal-Chelsea, and then they have Cardiff at home the week after.. Only thing is that it is a bit scary going without City-attack, but I guess I just can't have them all..

      Kane to Auba

problem with City is hard to tell which striker will start

I can see Auba scoring anyway and then we has Cardiff as you say so saves you a tranny for GW24

I can't see anything else as you have 3 Pool so Bobby is out

Did Kamara+Kane -> to Rashford+Firmino with my two free transfers and got myself some benching problems. Hate to bench Ings and Digne but what can I do..? Bench Anderson/Richarlison instead?

    Fabianski
Shaw - Doherty - Robertson (Digne - AWB)
    Salah - Haz - Pogba - Anderson - Richarlison
    Firmino - Rashford (Ings)

Just that Digne has a weakend Southampton attack to face that were in extra time last night.

Bench AWB - dont fancy him getting much points vs Liverpool.

Digne has a plum of a fixture vs Southampton

    G2G?

    Guaita*
    Alonso TAA* Doherty Digne
    Salah Hazard Sane
    Kane* Rashford Jimenez

    Hamer Kiko Gunnarson Hojbjerg

Sound good to do Kane, Hojbjerg to Pogba, Wilson for free today? Leaves money itb to do either TAA to Robbo or Guaita to Alisson depending if the latter is fit.

    Cheers

Auba - does the plus of Cardiff game outweigh the minus of Chelsea and city in the next 3?

Of Salah, Hazard, Sterling, Aubameyang, I prefer the first 3.

I guess I just don't trust Arsenal minus Ramsey and Ozil. If Ozil starts playing games then it's another matter.
