Has Salah finally shaken off his bonus points repellant?

Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) might have finally shaken off his aversion to bonus points this season as his Fantasy Premier League form continues to impress.

The Egyptian has recorded ten additional points through bonus in the last seven matches, which is 83% of his total for this year. If he continues at this rate, he could eclipse his tally for last season.

In the 2017/18 campaign, Salah broke the all-time FPL total score for a season but still only managed to add 26 bonus points.

A high number of off-target shots and offsides, as well as the fact that he was tackled fairly often, were all contributing factors to Salah dropping down the bonus points charts.

However, Liverpool’s number one attacker seems to have made improvements in all of those areas in recent weeks, to the extent that he has been averaging 1.43 bonus points per match since Gameweek 16.

In fact, Salah’s 11-point haul against Brighton in Gameweek 22 was the first match in which he has produced only one goal and earned bonus.

It was, of course, a match-winning goal, which does raise bonus points, but he has scored in two 1-0 wins before the one at the Amex Stadium and earned no bonus in either of them.

Prior to that, Salah has had to score another or provide an assist to put himself into consideration for the extra points on offer.

So that means something must have changed in his underlying statistics to endear him to the bonus points system (BPS) more than last season. Fantasy Football Scout members can read on and see more of our analysis…

Alonso's next 4 fixtures and his scores against those teams in the first half of the season:

    ars - 13
    bou - 9
    HUD - 11
    mci - 6

After the recent spate of injuries, surely people have more fires to put out than shipping this guy?

after the first four games he was instructed by Sarri to keep his position and tbf a lot of those attacking returns were at best lucky, deflections and pens and bouncing off a foot and you name it. Nothing in the performances of Chelsea of late suggests he will suddenly gets a lot of attacking returns. That said, if you own i would be hesitant to leave now, as most will have another issue or two to deal with-)

Hitting the post recently doesn't suggest attacking return?

          read my post again

one shot hitting the post does not suggest a lot of attacking returns does it? ONE cannot become a LOT can it?

While he's one of the best attacking defenders we can pick, he's playing in a back 4, so regardless of his attacking instincts, he isn't the marauding wingback we had last season.

He started the season that way, but I think it's clear that he's been asked to curb his forward runs a bit.

So having gone early for first time this season doing Alonso to TAA what do I do?

A - Hold and rely on Doherty/Digne/Laporte with WB on bench. Make transfer next week

B - Switch to Robbo for -4 have exact funds and long term plan was defensive double up with Allison.

If long term and this won´t trouble you later (future transfer plans) i would actually tend to B, but it also depends what you´re going to do, bench Digne or Doherty or a cheap mid/striker? If that´the case and you already have Allison, wait till after dealine and get Robbo then?

    3. Twisted Saltergater
      • 14 Years

A if you don't have another transfer planned next week. There's no point in keeping and avoiding the -4 this week if you go and do it next week or the week after for a hit.

Can you take a TAA drop without losing any selling value? If yes then definitely A as Robbo doesn't look like rising before deadline...

Alternatively, just hold TAA as the rest of your defence is solid and can easily cover him till he's back

Got to get rid of Kane and feel like it's Salah time:

    Fabianski

    Digne / Robertson / Luiz

    Richarlison / Hazard / Brooks / Pogba

    Aubameyang / Kane / Mitrovic

    Steele, Camarasa, Wan-B, Bednarek

    Which option? I have 2FT, £2.9m ITB.
    a) Kane + Brooks > Salah + Jimenez
    b) Kane + Brooks + Mitro > Salah + Rashford + Ings (-4)
    c) Kane + Richarlison > Salah + Rashford
    d) something else? Alli? Firmino? No Salah?

I prefer A to because I like Jimenez + Richarlison more than Brooks + Rashford. It's close though

About Salah, i dont think that there is any chance he will be classed as a mid next season and he shouldn't have been this season either but that water has passed under the bridge now.

Or is there still people out there that think that he should not be classed as a forward for 19/20?

And Digne, Doherty and Pereira always capable of attacking returns, saving around £1.5m

got this team currently for a -8. Which I hate as never take -8s!
Would you hit the wildcard and tweak other areas or roll with the -8?

    Pat
    Robbo Digne Doherty
    Salah Sterling Hazard Pogba Anderson
    Rashford Jiminez
    Hamer Zaba AWB long

You don't have much else to tweak so I'd stick with the -8.

thanks all. -8 really was my limit but TAA to Robbo seemed worth it for the final move

    Gtg?

    Fabs
    Robbo Digne Bennett
    Salah Hazard Pogba Richarlison
    Auba Rash Jimmy

    Hamer Camarasa Bednarek TAA

    On -8.
Worth doing another hit for -12, and bring VVD for TAA or play Bennett?

It’s a -4, TAA for VVD. You have to look at it as a single hit.

I wouldn’t get rid of Auba.

Last match between Chelsea and Arsenal was high scoring game, 3-2.

TAA replacement. Can't afford Trippier by 0.1. Is Alderweireld a decent pick?
